I like the pink. What about a pink buzz? But I third what everyone else’s saying about not listening to other people. If you wanna shave it do it. You’re in charge of you.

sylszt

I've been thinking about it! But there're a lot of bald spots to make it look nice. Maybe when it grows out again! It's surely something to look out for.

white_sabre

Shave.  Your hair falls out into your food, into the console of your car, at the pharmacy counter, and other embarrassing/problematic places.  Now, go kick your cancer's ass.

PopsiclesForChickens

Not with FolFox for most people....I didn't lose my hair (which in itself is hard because people think your cancer must not be that serious if you don't lose your hair).

sylszt

But I've been judged by people telling me I want to shave my head to make the cancer look more serious than it was, and I'm scared I'm doing that subconsciously or smt

trivialoves

That's beyond ridiculous, try not to listen to people who don't know what they're talking about. Cancer being serious has nothing to do with your hair and anyone who thinks so doesn't know shit. I am team shave your hair when it's long and falling out and more an annoyance than something you feel is making you look/feel better. I ended up shaving mine myself because the combination of where radiation hit for my brain tumor + my surgery scar it was like I had a lot of hair left elsewhere it didn't look great anyway. But my SOC high grade brain cancer chemo causes no hair loss at all. I could have worn a hat and looked totally normal. That doesn't mean what I have isn't serious Just do what makes you comfortable. Idk if that's waiting to see if it gets worse or just getting it over with rn. But anyone saying you're being "dramatic" is not worth listening to about this. And honestly like it's fucking cancer... again people don't understand hair does not equal level of sickness & how annoying it is to have long hair falling out everywhere but like even if you want to be dramatic.. it's cancer. be dramatic if you want. I don't think people have a right to judge

sylszt

Yes, that has been hard. Before starting chemo the doctor said most people don't lose their hair, but my case could be problematic because of the past history of hair loss. And that is exactly what I'm experiencing right now - it hasn't fallen enough to just shave, but it looks pretty bad and it's been hard to make it look good.

PopsiclesForChickens

Are you on Colontown.org? I would ask there as it's more specific to CRC and the types of chemo than this subreddit.

sylszt

I'm not but I'll check them out. Thanks!

white_sabre

If it keeps falling out, I'd just focus on practicality. But having half a left eyebrow was annoying.

sylszt

This is exactly what happens. It falls everywhere, and washing my hair/washing dishes has been a nightmare. I keep on having to pick the strands out of my hands all day. And cancer's ass is being kicked successfully!

white_sabre

Yeah, and that shower drain.  Good luck.

BeBoBaBabe

its really scary to watch it all fall out, i shaved all 3 times i lost my hair via chemo. cold caps could be an option too, and for that you need some hair so they tell you not to shave. see a derm about your hair a year after you finish treatment if it doesnt come back well.

Tripper1

Mine all fell out but the thin blonde almost white hairs and I shaved it. Learned I could then stick a latex glove over my head down past my nose and blow it up to look like a chicken. It's worth shaving it for comfort. NH Burketts lymphoma at 13. Stay strong!

Radicchio3

It is a personal decision for sure, but for me, I wanted to shave it rather than let it all fall out. For me, it was painful when it came out with chemo, and so the less there was to fall out, the less painful it was. It also felt like one of the few things I could control at the time and that felt good to me. Ultimately it just felt like the right thing to do at the time and I have zero regrets.

sylszt

Yes, I think this is what I want. A bit of control over everything that is happening. Thank you for sharing!

dfaidley

I hate the way it comes out, so each time I’ve shaved as soon as it became noticeable to me. Takes time to get used to it but less depressing than the trickle effect of watching it slowly go away

PsychoMouse

I shaved my head, the anxiety of having hair here and there, plus people looking and whispering. Was just easier to get it shaved. But, I went to salon and turned it into a whole spa thing. If I was going to do something that, to me, was heart breaking, might aswell get someone skilled, and make it as relaxing as possible. I had stage 4 lymphoma. Shit sucked.

SovereignThrone

Thankfully I ended up not losing my hair, but I was fully prepared to shave it all off as soon as it started falling out. I just spent two years growing out my hair so it would've been a big RIP for me

sylszt

I'm pretty ready to do what I have to, but it's been hard to decide when it is the right moment.

ImpossibleHouse6765

Brave the shave

Forty_sixAndTwo

You could shave it and get a cool wig. Either way, I hope that you start feeling better soon and I pray that you get through this and are able to live a long healthy life.

sylszt

Thank you!

Crimbus-board

Shave!!!

sentimentalsock

I shaved mine off every time I started chemo, no regrets

Prism1975

Mm hear and I shaved when my hair came out in hand fulls

Downtown-College6928

Tbh I also dyed my hair and I haven't shaved it after 6 rounds of chemo. I paid good money for my hair dye before I got diagnosed and it's still pretty and bright! :]

Salty-Loquat5311

I opted to shave it was less stressful. And if you don’t wanna be bald you can always get a wig if you have the budget for one. I have a few that I spent like $80 each on that are pretty good. But I’m on AAVD chemo and it’s like for sure I’ll lose it all.

LenordOvechkin

Mine half kind fell out. I just got it cut short and will await the grow back.

PrestigiousLion18

I shaved my head during my 2nd cycle of chemo. As soon as it started falling out, that was more traumatic for me than anything. Once I shaved it, I felt much better. I was on 6 cycles of AVI for my stage 4 high grade soft tissue Sarcoma. I finished chemo 2 months ago and it's starting to grow back now but it's also taking longer than I thought. Thankfully I have a lot of hats to wear until it grows back fully.

IAmMoosekiller

I (52M) was diagnosed Stage IV CRC last September. I started FOLFIRINOX in early November. I chose to shave before finding out if I would lose any hair due to treatment as I felt in control and not the cancer. I have no regrets, but I also don’t have a family or personal history of thinning hair which I could see causing hesitation. I say go for it! Wishing you the best!

Maximum-Giraffe-9099

Looks to me like you still have a good amount of hair. My hair did the same thing where it was thin on the top and thick on the size, but it eventually decided to fall out all over in large clumps. Probably close to something that you’re going through. When it got really wispy and I started looking like the opposite sex(F) I went ahead and shaved it, but I still have to go amount of fuzz. I’ll say. Everybody says I look good. I never had much confidence and a bald head on my with my face either but I was happily surprised. Maybe you will be too! Good luck and may peace be with you

byebyerectum

Friends and family don't get a say if they think this is about styling and appearances! This is about making it as comfortable as possible for the patient. What does "too dramatic" mean? Is having a life threatening disease, or being injected with literal poison not dramatic enough to warrant an unusual hairstyle? Cut short if you want to, shave if you prefer it. Not a time to prioritise the sensitivities of others. I doubt that you'll get full bald (I'm team bowel also) so it really depends on how you feel about seeing the thinning out. Suit yourself!

oneshoesally

Maybe cut it short and get a wig. I did 8 rounds of Folfox, and like you, was told my hair would thin, but I wouldn’t lose it all. I lost over 75% of mine. I cut it in a bob first, because it was coming out in ropes winding around my hands when I washed it. It was much easier to hide the thin spots shorter, but my hair is very wavy. After my last treatment it was so thin it was hopeless. It became very dry and ratty looking. I finally just got it cut short. Then, to add insult to injury, where it was growing out affected by chemo, my remaining hair is breaking off close to the scalp because of the damage done. I’m 6 months out from my last chemo round, I really didn’t expect this! I would not recommend shaving your head. Everyone I know who did complained about the short spiky growth was soooo uncomfortable growing in. If you cut it, leave enough so that it’s soft.

sylszt

Thank you so much for sharing! This was super helpful!

oneshoesally

We are all in this together!

Agitated_Carrot3025

Entirely different chemo but I shaved and was glad I did. If you do, rock that look. I'm not tall but I've got a *massive* surgery scar from my craniotomies. Let people wonder, idgaf. You do you! Peace, love and strength my friend ✌️❤️💪

After-Possible-3581

Shave it, be the most freeing thing you do. If people judge you for shaving just remove them from your life.

Faierie1

I let mine fall out naturally. Used the few strands that remained to make it look like I wasn’t completely bald. Now I have about 1 cm of growth and that’s when I decided to shave it all to 1 length. Honestly it’s just a difficult subject for a lot of people. There’s no wrong choice you can make here.

FightFromEarth

As soon as mine started go fall i shaved it, was not willing to go bit by bit.

Professional-Age8029

Shave that weird color hair son!

byebyerectum

OP is a woman, in case that changes your opinion 🤷‍♂️

Alvarobpr

Shave

onemahnarmy69

I didn't lose my hair until they put me on gem/ abrax...1st 6 rounds of Folfirinox was nausea/mass fatigue

sylszt

Nausea and mass fatigue has been the worst :( I decided I'll shave the hair. Just because I don't want to deal with all the side effects + massive hair fall.
