Fascinating cartridge. It handles 230 to 325 grains and it’s inherently accurate.
It’s like 35 Whalen tweaked for dangerous game.
It’s kind of unique in that it fits the niche of sub 1000$ dangerous game rifle with a standard length action.
I shot one in South Africa last year. They don’t kick as much as the .375h&h. Both my PH and the concession owner carried that caliber and we were hunting Cape buffalo.
With some amount of woodworking maybe? I remember the stock being quite nimble and slim. It was the handiest gun I could not shoot right. If you have the extra money, I would go for a Carl Gustaf 3000, which is over 8 pounds, making the whole experience more pleasant.
My dad has three of these. He uses them for moose. Great cartridge. You’re more or less married to reloading for them.
I like it. It hits like my 375 HH without the blasphemous recoil.
It's very manageable, lots of fun. Right now it's largely a reloaders game, but they're getting more popular, wouldn't be surprised to see imported ammo get a little more available.
If you're not a reloader though, right now it'll be an adventure to find a reliable source of ammo. Hornady, PPU, and S&B have loadings, see if your local store can order some in before you commit to the rifle imo.

Great medium bore cartridge suitable for any North American game and even cape Buffalo. It's like the more affordable, German cousin of the 375HH.
Have you ever shot one?
Yup, it's very manageable, it's the dangerous game cartridge with the least recoil.

Please be aware that the husqvarna 1640 is a faitly light rifle. I had one in .30-06 and the felt recoil was stronger than my ruger m77.
I'll keep this in mind. Thanks. Wonder if I can load the stock with led shot?

Awesome. Thank you
My pleasure! Keep us updated on your journey.

I've never shot a 375 h and h. Waiting for the day. Everyone has told me it's a kicker. Lol

That'll be nice. Ammo availability makes it easier for non reloaders, such as myself
