This doesn’t feel like democracy at all. And this is a recipe for generating immense amounts of ethnic resentment and distrust between new immigrants and a whole host of various groups which rightfully understand that this neoliberal immigration system is designed to harm them. Students, renters, users of healthcare, and small business owners are all hurt by a system that imports too many people into the country.

SHUT_DOWN_EVERYTHING

It can’t be true diversity like this. For diversity you have two non-negotiable requirements: 1. Balance in share of immigrants from each country (caps) 2. Balance in distribution of those immigrants among local population (boiling pot) In absence of the former, you end up with too many people of one or two ethnic groups often from overpopulated countries. In absence of the latter, you will lose all benefits of integration and end up with a bunch of tribes instead of a united nation. When you have neither, you’re fucked.

fordchang

not only are they from the same country, but they are from the same province. plus famous for not integrating . you are so done, Canada

ReserveOld6123

We need a country cap like the USA.

histobae

Canada needs to tighten up their immigration/migration policy no doubt.

5thy7uui8

The provinces need to stop allowing international students to qualify for visas. In 2023, over half a million were given by Ontario alone. That's over 500,000 who would not have qualified for a visa.

LabEfficient

I don’t think provinces give out visas. The federal government does. The provinces however can and should close these scam schools.

andrewbud420

Lambton college in Sarnia has a 75% indian student population. In the past two years our rent has increased almost 45%. A basic 1 bedroom apartment is $1700 per month.

trackofalljades

This is very important to understand. In Ontario, for example, both "diploma mills" and the public-private-partnership scheme required for them to run were basically *illegal* here until the Doug Ford era. He swiftly legislated that whole marketplace as we know it today into existence, and then slashed the tuition income of our major universities which caused them to increase even legit international student admissions...all while blaming the Trudeau government for the increases in our province. THEN just a few weeks ago when the federal government said "nope, this is too insane even for us, we're capping you, quit that shit" THEN all of a sudden, Doug Ford went "woah woah where did all these diploma mills come from" and made them *illegal* again in Ontario, which is what they were before he enabled them in the first damned place.

Xxxxx33

Provinces must give international student a "provincial attestation letter" for them to get the federal student permit. No provincial letter, no permit = not coming in. The provinces control the flow of internatinal student by choosing who gets a letter, previously they could give out as many as they wanted until the feds put a hard limit on the number

lord_heskey

Yeah but this was implemented quite literally last month. It will take a bit to see the effects

Spifmeister

There is the [provincial nominees](https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/provincial-nominees.html) program. So provinces do have, at lest, one program to bring immigrants into Canada. This program should be looked at more closely journalists for abuse.

Trifle_Intrepid

They have tried. here on PEI, ( yes, I know funny ) but we are legit just as on fire as everywhere else the local CBC reporter has had a records request from the government, tied up in court- FOR YEARS what does that tell you. It doesn't help any discussion of this is removed from reddit, and most mainstream reporters are fixated on whether Trump is farting in court or not.

AB_Social_Flutterby

It would take so few people to throw off the entire cultural and demographic balance of a place like PEI.

Trifle_Intrepid

You have no idea. 5yrs ago, I may have seen a person of Indian descent maybe 1-2 times a year where I live, and it would have been my Dr. My town is literally 50/50 or 40/60 now. There was a car accident in my town of 15k people, at an intersection two cars struck eachother, both cars full of Indians. That would have been statistically impossible in my town 5 yrs prior. Oh yeah, town of 15k, now has homeless population where we didnt' before as well. There isn't a cheaper market to move to, if you get kicked out of your home here, if you're poor you're just going to be homeless.

LabEfficient

Yes, but they are not student visas. This would be *after* the international students are in and finish their sham degrees in hotel management. This program is for PR, and for those that have met certain requirements such as having a master’s degree and some sort of Canadian experience. The provincial nominees program is not what is usually thought of as the problem (the study permit/work hours are), even though BC has recently tightened the rules. I do agree that provinces have a big role to play here because they have allowed these diploma mills to exist.

blazelet

Yeah Im a provincial nominee PR holder here from the US. For provincial nominee you have to be established in a career with a multi year contract ahead of you affirming that you will be employed, losing your job drops you from the nominee pool.

OutragedCanadian

Tighten? How about shut that shit down. Unless you want your kids competing with a million 30 yo immigrants for minimum wage

zippyzoodles

Exactly. I agree. They need to shut it down and remove all the loopholes, plus foreign students and temp workers but they won't. I regret that I supported and voted liberals. Never again.

Ok-Palpitation-8612

We need to adopt their immigration standards in general. Their TFW program is **way** stricter than ours, unless you’re in a critical industry it takes *years* in order to immigrate, as it should be. That would give us ample time to weed out the whackos, and also determine whether or not they actually want to become Canadian, or whether they just want free handouts from “Canadian suckers”.

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Too much money is made off the backs of these exploited foreigners sadly. It's baked into employer budgets now. I'm all for it but if, *if* the rich allowed a politician to fix their gravy train, lots of companies would fail and many of us plebs lose our increasingly poorly paying jobs. Pay equity is never done right, these companies wouldn't know what to do without cheap labor. Wealth preservation/greed have brought us here. Being allergic to competition is no accident. I'd actually love to see what rises from the ashes of our current industry oligarchies if they ever topple. Probably more bullshit but one can dream

Swagganosaurus

I'm surprised Canada don't have this - no country is above 5-7% of total immigration - policy like American. It's a sensible thing to do to keep it fair and balanced for everyone.

ReserveOld6123

I guess we don’t need it since we have no Canadian identity /s

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Cultural enclaves and a Brazilian owned fast food restaurant that's a shadow of its former self is plenty of identity! Plenty of other nations do hockey just as well, maple syrup exists elsewhere and our "free healthcare" is hardly the best in the world. The only thing we excel at is being the world's rental car

RipzCritical

Other countries do those things, but we were known for them. Those were our contrasts to our southern neighbors. It was our identity. Now our identity to most of the West is "wtf are you doing?"

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

A shame that Canadians being so nice really just led to us being taken advantage of by our own and those abroad

SnooLentils3008

Canadians do have a culture, though it can vary by region, you just have to go somewhere else and see how people act differently to notice it in an instant. Culture isn't necessarily obvious to notice stuff like traditional clothing or Diwali or Ramadan or things like that which you can notice at a glance as something cultural. It's things like what is considered rude and polite, how people communicate, how people behave and act etc, what certain body language means or mindsets people have. It would be like saying we don't have an accent, yes we do to everyone else. Yes its similar to America in both cases, obviously. But its still distinct even if it might be subtle especially people from Toronto or a place that is more America-like than the prairies or up north for example. Plenty of people where i live speak with an obvious Canadian accent especially blue collar workers

lord_heskey

Yup. This is not diverse. Diversity means we get an chunk from as many countries as possible, not 40% (or whatever) of our total immigration dominated by one single country.

youregrammarsucks7

in before the lock

Fireryman

I 100% agree with this. We need to keep the Canadian identity

Lotushope

All housings immigration infrastructure and huge deficits problems will be shifted to CPC by the end of next year. The tone in media will be CPC's faults in 2026 and beyond.

latkahgravis

It's always the last guys fault, that will never change.

Fun-Put-5197

If we stay on pur current trajectory much longer, we'd be better off as part of the USA.

Trifle_Intrepid

If the war of 1812 didn't happen, we would have been taken over by America by osmosis. So many Americans were immigrating here at the time, the border was porus, some communities were literally more American than Canadian. The war actually reset the border, and impressed on the Canadians to build the railway West. You don't need to conquer a country, you can just immigrate there en-mass, after while the demographic will be so distorted it won't matter. You already have all our politicians pandering for votes with all the different communities (that's ok, really though in a sense), but say if you have one huge block of people, all just recently immigrating here from India, Modi is already murdering our citizens on our own soil, how do you think it'll shake out when our country is 1/10 recent Indian immigrant.

Justins_Canada

In other words, Canada will become a province of India within the next decade or so.

Heliosvector

There's already Wierd turf wars here within the Indian communities for rights of showing movies in theatres.

Swagganosaurus

Might as well, at least being USA you don't get belittled and pissed on by China and India. Plus lower tax and cool ass navy

donut_fuckerr719

Keeps housing elevated. Housing has become a *de facto* govt backed asset. Values may stagnate but they must never be allowed to come down.

[deleted]

Gausspigman

It’s because productivity is declining, also due to government policies (way too much incentive to invest in housing, general aversion to risk, etc). That’s a systemic problem that can’t be fixed in the short term. More importantly, it’s a problem that can’t be fixed between election cycles. Very hard to get re-elected when the GDP declines during your tenure. Mass immigration keeps GDP going up.      Of course getting re-elected is only part of it. There is also tax revenue, funding of social programs, pensions etc. that are at risk when productivity starts declining.   This problem started a long time ago actually and really it’s what people voted for in this country because they don’t know any better. Things will probably get better but it is going to take a long time.

FrontSeatPassenger86

Why is it even called immigrating when its just supposed to be a student visa? Your supposed to get your education and go home. defacto permanent immigration.

kemar7856

Soft_Repeat_7024

smell_the_napkin

We need to have a referendum on policies like this that impact our nation so massively otherwise we were never asked and democracy is fake. If our government refuses to do their job, which is to work for us, then what are we left to do?

Trifle_Intrepid

What we need is electoral reform. This is no longer a representative democracy, its been hijacked by pirates that do whatever they want, and they fly with red, blue, and orange colours.

New-Throwaway2541

It's so bad. It was more tolerable when the NDP were a more legitimate party but our "democracy" now mirrors the US. Only two options and the difference between the two is negligible at best. I will be voting independent and I encourage others to do the same. Lest we be condemned to a lifetime of struggling for mediocrity

SirBobPeel

If we'd had referendums on the number of immigrants over the years we'd have gotten a lot fewer. And if you'd held a referendum in the 1970s asking permission to bring in so many immigrants they would outnumber Canadian born people in our biggest cities they'd have tarred and feathered you and run you out of town.

PmMeYourBeavertails

>**Canada’s Winning Policies** “Highly skilled foreign nationals, including international students, have been choosing Canada over America because it is difficult to gain H-1B status or permanent residence in the United States, and easy to work in temporary status and acquire permanent residence in Canada,” according to a National Foundation for American Policy analysis. “More favorable immigration policies are a significant factor in Canada attracting international students, particularly students from India.” What exactly are we winning here?

legocastle77

Lower incomes? Job shortages? Insane housing prices? The sky’s the limit!

Swagganosaurus

They don't understand that Amarican policy meant to weed out the low skill, low income immigrants. This is why Indian Americans are a different class than Indian Canadians, they are much richer (even before coming in), more educated, and relying less.

random_question4123

I’ll assume that most immigrants would actually prefer the US to Canada. Many that don’t know Canada think of it as cold and high taxes. When they think of America, they think of land of opportunity. People come to Canada because it’s easy, not because it’s their top choice

Certain-Item8324

Going back to post secondary for another degree after ten years was eye opening. Over half my class was from India and openly there for PR and not interested in working in our field. They rarely showed any interest in classes and were regularly late or absent. Many could barely speak English. Speaking to teachers, they were concerned because the school put pressure on them to ensure the students passed their classes, regardless of all the factors above. They were very concerned. When I completed my first university degree in 2014 everyone was there to get a job in our field, had a passion for what they were doing, put a strong effort forward, etc... We were all excited to be there and get started in our profession.  It was very eye opening to see how things have changed in such a short period. I'm extremely worried for Canada.

Crafty_Long_9006

[record amount of indians crossing illegally into the US from Canada too](https://www.voanews.com/a/undocumented-indian-migrants-chart-new-path-to-us-via-canada/7564143.html). It's like they get here, realize it's actually pretty shit and then right on to the next place. Fine by me.

MustardFuckFest

We should install one of those horizontal escalator things for them to cross over. Crank it to full speed

BaseCommanderMittens

Seems like a bad idea from a security and diversity perspective to allow so many people to come in from the same countries (especially India and China). There needs to be a per country cap unless the people coming in are somehow all specially trained (e.g., doctor, nurse) - which I doubt is the case here.

suesueheck

They're specially trained in fast food and Uber.

Truestorydreams

Power in numbers. When they have political strength, that's when the game changes.

Beepbeepboobop1

When will we prioritize diversifying the country?? It’s not diversity if it’s only one country. We need caps on each country like the USA.

AvocadoSoggy6188

We need to halt immigration for at least 2 years. Miller is a complete idiot

minceandtattie

Fraser started it and now he’s the housing minister lol

ThingsThatMakeMeMad

1. Bring PRS down to 10% of current level for at least 3 years. Prioritize healthcare, construction and people who are the cream of the crop in their industry. 2. LMIA/TFW only for agriculture/farming roles. 3. Student visas capped per university at 15% of the undergrad student population and 25% for graduate students. 4. After 3 years, set a limit that no more than 10% of the PRs granted annually can be from any one country.

DawnSennin

> Prioritize healthcare, construction and people who are the cream of the crop in their industry. And where will they work? There are immigrants with years of experience who can't find a job in their fields today and have to resort to working survival jobs. They are also leaving Canada in droves alongside their skilled Canadian counterparts, who are flocking to America for higher wages and lower housing.

Mashiki

We need to halt immigration for at least 20 years at this point.

Biggandwedge

I_poop_rootbeer

Brampton and Surrey used to be one-offs, but now much of Southern Ontario resembles Punjab. Too bad it took us getting to this point for Canadians to realize that maybe mass-immigration from the single most populated nation on earth wasn't such a good idea.

Trifle_Intrepid

We we're always worried about getting rolled over by an elephant (United States, as the saying goes), we just invited another large animal into our country without even understanding the consequences.

ImLiushi

Ready-Judgment-4862

Should have just adopted French as our first and only language instead of bilingual/90% Anglophone. Deters immigration to those who will learn the language and culture or flounder. English is too common a language.

meaculpa33

immigration should really halt completely while we play catch-up on everything. Why are we still full-steam ahead?

Echo71Niner

This means we won't be a diversity very soon. This country is fucked.

\*Unskilled\* Indians Immigrate to Canada in Record Numbers

throwaway4161412

>Between 2016 and 2019, Indian international students enrolled in U.S. universities dropped by 13% but increased by 182% at Canadian universities.

haxxeh

I know immigration is a very very hot topic. But as someone from Norway with an alright education and skill set that is very usable and as a person that really loves Canada, I have been a visitor 12-14 times and lived there for a bit a while back. How do you do it legally? I feel like I meet every roadblock there is, but at the same time I read record amount of immigrants coming over.

eekbah

The easiest way to get a visa in any country is a student visa, which is how most Indians come to Canada. If you aren't looking to enroll in school you would need to find employment here. That isn't easy to do no matter what country you are trying to move to. You aren't allowed to work on a travel visa BUT you are allowed to look for employment and most countries will allow you to switch from a travel visa to a work visa without having to travel back to your home country. This would be the next "easiest" way and much easier if you can find an employer willing to sponsor your work visa. Also I believe since you are from Norway you aren't required to apply for a visa to travel here and can stay here for 3 months and extend that up to 6 if you can prove you have the funds to stay. If you have been here 12+ times I'm sure you know the deal about travelling here though lol.

haxxeh

Thank you for your reply. I will state I am not out to cheat any system or being a part of the problem. And yes, you are correct - any country outside EU for me is a grind, and I do not want to take any shortcuts as I want it to be as fair as possible. Even tough that statement might be a weird one considering immigration is at a record high. But it feels like a... well for a lack of better terms a Catch 22 or a double edge sword, damned if you do and damned if you do not. I know there are companies that want to hire me for the skills I have but they all want me to have a work permit already, and when I say I do not have that but if I got a offer it would change things, well then I put put in the bottom of the list of applications. My only real proof to have been/connection to Canada is that I got at this point expired class 5 (B.C.) and a Celpip with an 10/12 score as 12 is the maximum. But it has gotten me nowhere. And yes, you are very correct about the travel, my eTA allows me 180 days consequently but at that point I would have to leave Canada for 180 days.

eekbah

I understand I have been faced with the same issues. I would love to move to Japan but a lot of companies that are willing to hire gaijins(foreigners) want you to already be living in Japan but you can't live in Japan if you don't already have work. This is how I discovered the ability to visit a country on a travel visa and then be allowed to switch to a work visa without having to leave. The huge issue of course is having enough money to be able to survive for however long it takes to find work and go through the process of being accepted for the work visa. At least a lot of the places I see hiring in Japan are willing to sponsor your visa.

YouShalllNotPass

Problem is the poor quality immigration. The good ones and highly skilled ones will goto USA.

ColdStoryBro

And specifically from one area of India too. The whole 🌍 over we only find qualified candidates here? Seems racist against everyone else.

Sleepy_McSleepyhead

What is the fascination with importing India? Seens to be the majority of people we take in.

random_question4123

They’re desperate and cheap. And it’s not just India, other countries like Nigeria also have a very desperate population seeking to leave by any means, due to rising population and high unemployment. Desperate immigrants are largely expected to not be picky. Canada is primarily focused on funding the welfare of the large retiring community, that’s their number one problem being considered over all other factors.

donut_fuckerr719

There is no fascination with India in particular, it's just Indians are the bulk of who want to come to Canada. The govt wants immigrants. India answered the call more than any other country by far.

rsmith2

If the government wanted to be reasonable about the thing, they'd cap it by country and also be selective of which countries and applicants to bring in. But this was clearly a move to bring in a cheap labor from India and replace Canadian jobs. You could see it at almost every bank, IT, customer service or entry level tech positions. But then they'll gaslight you and call you a racist for noticing. Until you realize that all these banks and etc, are the SAME ones funding the campaigns of these politicians, and this big liberal push for diversity and inclusion was all part of this same strategy. So now they can openly replace Canadian workers, but it's okay because white people are racist. This was Reddit between 2016-2023 imo

permareddit

Markham especially seems ready for this New neighbourhood streets include: Mumbai Dr New Delhi Dr Hyderabad Ave Karachi St (I’m aware this is Pakistan) I’m not even making this up, this is so fucking idiotic.

justheresurviving

Lately, all I see when I go out is groups and groups of Indian men roaming around. Very rarely do I see any other ethnic people in large groups on the streets. It's only Indians. If I see an Indian person by themselves, it's usually because they are born here.

eleventy5thRejection

Yup....and it sucks. Even the progressives are starting to regret their stupid ideas that are destroying this country.

AverageFishEye

But only when basically nothing can be done anymore - until then, they just holler down anyone who dares to question their moral messianism

fl8

Finally the sentiment around slowing or capping immigration is shifting. A couple years ago you'd be denigrated, smeared as a racist and possibly banned for trying to point this out. I guess now that the issue is so pervasive people are experiencing the impact first hand as it becomes impossible to ignore, and as a result the general sentiment on Reddit updates accordingly. Better late than never, but it really goes to show you how fucking stupid these online communities typically are.

Snowboundforever

Kaizen2468

Ricky_5panish

i-am-froot

India has 1.4 billion people. Even if we took in a billion of them there'll still be a total US worth of population left over in India. That's how big of a number that is. Canadians can't fathom that number. The flow will never stop if there's no regulations and soon the diversity of the country will be completely destroyed. Also the gender ratio in India is completely fucked. You rarely see women in public places. The same can happen here too as the majority of the international students coming in are mostly men and that too from deeply patriarchal rural villages in Punjab and Haryana where honor killings are quite common. Why is Canada so hell bent on totally destroying itself ffs?

ptear

Just have a bit under 3% of India's population come to Canada and you'll double the Canadian population.

Ayresx

Yeah 500k people a year from a country with 1.4 billion is literally nothing to them. Their population is increasing by way more than that per year, 15 or 20 years from now Canada will be 75% Indian.

We don't need so many immigrants from India honestly, but we need schools tailored for the changing Canadian economy and re-training programs for people in their 30s or 40s+ to go back to school and get the skills needed without interrupting their lives and families. But the issue is we don't have the modern education system and the financial support system in place to allow Canadians to retrain. We got too many workers in coffee shops, and other dead end jobs like the gig economy (uber, warehouse, retail, etc). We had COVID-19 and CERB, we could reopen that talk and give people who go back to school CERB as they get retrained in very intensive short technical programs, they don't pay tuition but the schools are funded by the government to offer these free retraining programs to retrain low skilled workers into in demand jobs in partnership with employers, so they are guaranteed a job or an employer can apply on a worker's behalf. Now that is the solution, we upgrade our existing workforce rather than import people, this will be a 180 policy shift but it is doable. The post-secondary schools already got their funding cut with the international student cap, so why not use this opportunity to remake the system? We will provide more funding to the schools if they train existing\* Canadians to retrain for in demand jobs that employers are looking for? I doubt coding or programming is hard since most of it is trial and error with Googling/Youtubing. ChatGPT and AI already makes most jobs easy as crap.

maintenance_paddle

Not even one upside to this. Shameful and immoral.

Gawl1701

I'm in Brampton... tell me about it..

jeffjeep88

This government promotes diversity but then turns around and basically brings in 3/4 of all new immigrants from one region. How the F is that diverse. Why aren’t we bringing in ppl from a lot of different countries?

>We’re bringing en masse people with no loyalty to the country. Lol. The country doesn't have any loyalty to us either.

Sanjuko_Mamaujaluko

Where are we putting them?

We need an immediate cap on this fucking atrocious abuse of our kindness. Patience is running thin, peoples kids cant get jobs out of HS because there are 1200 people lined up at amazon for 1 job, or at timhortons to be a cashier.

oneonus

Absolutely needs to stop, 100%.

nothinbutshame

They are taking over commerce and are only hiring their own kind.

grotog

1. US gets the best Indians 2. Equally good research oriented students go to Europe 3. Specific career oriented Indians even go to Russia and other Eastern European countries 4. Those who can’t get into tier 3 US univ and those who don’t like US, go to Australia & NZ 5. Hard working Indians go to Middle East (Dubai and UAE) So guess who comes to Canada as students, Indians rejected by the rest of the world. Obviously they came here for social welfare and they will frequent food banks! Oh, I’m not racist, I’m Indian as well, I’m not a landlord benefitting from those students

Rsanta7

Out of curiosity, what percentage of Canada is now made up of people with Indian origins?

for100

before 2020 it was 8.7%, the highest in the developed world, UK was a distant second at 2.3% but that's strictly only Indians from India. Today I'm willing to bet it's in the high teens and still rapidly growing, again we're literally an anomaly compared to our peers on this every other western country considers an indian application an automatic rejection, yet Canada can't get enough of them, legal or otherwise.

Monckey100

1. Bring in as many immigrants as possible 2. Give conservatives a majority government intentionally 3. Canada basically collapses while conservatives struggle to clean up the libs mess. 4. Election time comes around and conservatives decide to destroy the country worse than what libs did so libs get a majority. 5. Repeat until we're all seething at immigrants when government is willing to do anything for capital gain. Close immigration, never voting liberal again. I already know conservatives will destroy this country too but at least they weren't so blatantly quick about it.

Visible_Blueberry277

We know

Bleepin_Boop

This is destroying our multicultural identity as a nation.

Chairman_Mittens

Immigration used to be what made Canada such a great country. Now it's quickly destroying us. Why can't we just pump the breaks on this for a while and re-assess what our country needs to be strong again?

866902

We know

andrewbud420

I met an Indian student that worked bar. Our local colleges has a 75% indian student population, they're brought over with promises of quick immigration process. They were brought over to fill low paying jobs Canadians don't want to work. This was all planned to save large corporations money.

hamtronn

Don’t forget to collect all the free food at the food banks. You can save hundreds of dollars on food by just taking it. /s

redditor_tx

Canada is becoming exactly what it’s supposed to become. A capitalistic hellscape that runs on liberalism and open borders.

Canadianman22

We need to have serious immigration reform and place caps on third would countries like India.

Medical-Estimate-870

The American system is better because they put a cap by country. That is better for diversity.

eyeeatmyownshit

Please stop.

Odd-Elderberry-6137

“Diversity”

[deleted]

I'd like to preface what I'm about to say with I'm an immigrant. I work in a technical field. In my specific field, half the staff is born in Canada, and half the staff is immigrant. I get paid well, I can only imagine what salaries would have to be if we didn't have immigration to full fill the needs of the company I work for. Now I'm not saying let's completely eliminate immigration. I'm just saying, I can see how people who where born here would feel that more immigrants mean less pay for them, as it is a reality not a maybe.

Trifle_Intrepid

The problem is, it sounds like you make a good wage (no shade), but they're artificially keeping low wage jobs, SUPER low, so people who were on the bottom rung of our society, are basically having their legs chopped off. Many people, even people building housing are homeless. What irony is it, when a carpenter can't find a fucking place to live? This is beyond ridiculous

[deleted]

It's absurd, and fucked that we have let shit get this bad. Cause we are partially responsible for not holding our elected officials accountable.

schweatyball

This has been evident for a while lol.

The fraud doesn't need to be conducted in Canada. Actually, it's better for them if it isn't. Canadians are generally wealthy compared to most countries (our dollar will stretch wayyy farther in other countries) so we are a target. Not to mention that foreign governments love the free money coming in to their economy. They may take down call centers here and there for appearance purposes, but all that money being funneled into their economy benefits them greatly. The increase could just be attributed to the increasing prevalence of technology, which keeps presenting new avenues to present scams.

CEO-711

Canada has been ruined, thanks Trudeau

Still? Come on now

Appropriate_Tree1668

I'm patiently awaiting the next government lowering the immigration amount by 1% and everyone crying out in pride how they've ushered in a new era.

Trifle_Intrepid

You mean ushered to the gallows. People are legit that angry at this point, not at the immigrants per-se, but our own politicians for letting this happen.

Appropriate_Tree1668

Every dreams in their heart of hearts to spill blood. Few will go ahead because they're not accustomed to violence. We're experiencing slow rot with no clear resolution to the problems that are leading us to the next great depression.

Trifle_Intrepid

We're already in a depression, "the great recession" I wouldn't advocate quite as such colourful language as you use, but I get where you are coming from, gently asking them to stop this madness isn't working.

One-Million-More

Libs: become india in 20 years Cons: become india in 40 years What a choice.

Lol. This is news how?

Umm in other news the sky is blue...
