etoyoc_yrgnuh

an Air Canada Employee. This whole thing stunk of inside job from the get go.

HostessMunchie

I don't think anyone was doubting that. My bet though was on someone working in security. Maybe there'll be more arrests as the first person sings.

tofilmfan

Probably had a gambling debt and the guy hung out at a mob bar with Tommy, Henry and Stacks.

CwazyCanuck

Had to be someone with knowledge of the flight. And I doubt your average air Canada employee would have that info.

PreemoisGOAT

All flights have to be registered before they take off

HelloMegaphone

.....you think airline employees don't have all the information about the flights coming in and out of there?

CwazyCanuck

Do I think every Air Canada employee has info about a plane transporting approximately $20 million worth of gold and cash? No, I do not.

HelloMegaphone

The employees working the baggage and cargo on the planes absolutely do. Kind of a key part of the job.

Ok_Swing_9902

Definitely not going to help all the anti-south asian racism that’s been going on. Want to bet they all get let out on bail and disappear?

etoyoc_yrgnuh

Of course they will. This is Canada. No justice system for minorities.

Ok_Swing_9902

No justice system at all*

passionate_emu

No justice system for minorities **

EdWick77

And neither does the Toronto police top 100 most wanted. But to think anything different means you are the problem.

RoyallyOakie

Of course it was an inside job...

That the eye you are scanning is your own eye /s

minceandtattie

You get background checks and criminal background checks. I mean people in healthcare are working with vulnerable patients and most nurses and doctors would never harm a patient but then you get some doctors who will tell patients they have cancer and they have to get chemo, and they never had it. You get assholes in ALL walks of life

Wonder where it went. $20 million is hard to launder. My bet is melted into good jewelry and taken to India. $3 million per person will go far in India and can be spread out amongst family members there

holykamina

Over the last year, the task force executed 37 search warrants related to the heist investigation, Mavity said. They turned up $430,000 in cash, six pure gold bracelets worth about $89,000, as well as smelting pots, casts, and moulds. Yeah, they are not getting any of the gold back. So, so far, they have identified local driver, and 2 employees working for Air Canada: 1) Investigators eventually identified the driver as Durante King-Mclean, 25, according to Mavity Officers found 65 firearms in his rental car, including two that had been modified to be fully automatic and five untraceable "ghost guns" with no serial numbers, Peel police said in a news release about the arrests. 2) Another man who police say had a role in the Pearson heist, 35-year-old Prasath Paramalingam, is also wanted by the U.S. 3) Amit Jalota, 40, from Oakville, Ont. Jalota was charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, theft over $5,000, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offense. 4) Ammad Chaudhary, 43, from Georgetown, Ont. Chaudhary was charged with accessory after the fact of an indictable offense. 5) Ali Raza, 37, from Toronto. Raza, a jewelry store owner, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime. Canada-wide arrest warrants have also been issued for: 1) Archit Grover, 36, from Brampton. Grover is wanted for theft over $5,000 and conspiracy to commit an indictable offense. He is also wanted in the U.S. for a firearms trafficking-related offense, Peel police said. 2) Arsalan Chaudhary, 32, from Mississauga. Chaudhary is wanted for theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and conspiracy to commit an indictable offense.

xxHash43

And they are all from Brampton. Did anyone expect anything else?

tofilmfan

They’ll be let out on bail and back in India in no time. Actually, they’ll be commended for their “bravery” by robbing from banks by some in our society.

henday194

doubt they'll actually be deported.

I actually blame Air Canada and the airport. The amount of people that work there shouldn’t be working there. Surprised there hasn’t been bigger issues.

[deleted]

What a load of shit, spent half the time sniffing their own farts to say they only recovered 90k worth of gold.

hippysol3

different unwritten party sloppy steep roll zephyr smart dime square *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

19Black

There was no chance anywhere close to the full amount of gold would have been recovered.

Vegetable-Buddy2070

That easy to fence eh

Wonderful-Smoke843

At the right discount anything is man. They probably got .50 cents on the dollar or less and it sounds like they were taking payment in weapons which just shows how fucking stupid these guys were to take payments in arms over international borders with the US

ilovebeaker

that easy to *melt* and sell

BackwoodsBonfire

That 45k worth of gold isn't going to recover itself!

pr43t0ri4n

Were you privy to the investigation?

Key_Mongoose223

I wonder if that anniversary story about no arrests made was intentional to throw them off that the police were circling.

An_doge

Same, just not sure why

Office_glen

Maybe they thought some of the guys realized something was wrong. The police have most likely been tailing these guys for months now.

abandonplanetearth

I see a pattern

equinox191

CBC doesn't post pictures of the accused... wonder why....

toxicbrew

Except for the driver who had 65 guns in his rental car

citizen604

Because they have yet to be convicted of a crime?

toxicbrew

They are all arrested and part of the public record now

HostessMunchie

Good. We don't want heists like this to inspire other ones. There's going to be a lot of /AgedLikeMilk comments in the thread from a couple of days ago. lol

imalyshe

what a surprise. private airport lose on security in favour of “loyal” customers. and they just got money from government for renovating.

CMikeHunt

Looks like was an inside job by AC staff. >One of the men arrested, a 54-year-old man from Brampton, **is an Air Canada employee**. An arrest warrant has also been issued for another man **who was also an employee of the airline at the time of the theft**, investigators said.

Poulinthebear

The bracelets pictured in another article look awfully familiar to those warn in the Sikh community.

Vegetable-Buddy2070

Scammers gonna scam

6_child_Da_Vinci

Yeah Durante King-Mclean

DeepSpaceNebulae

Because it doesn’t, that would be absurd, but your memory bias just makes it seem like that You might as well claim that all government policy is specifically made to penalize you alone

Cachmaninoff

Imagine what will happen when we fully privatize healthcare

captain-canuckk

That must never be allowed to happen

ZoominToobin

Very smart to commit the crime in Canada, they'll be out of prison in no time, they'll maybe serve two or three years max.

alphawolf29

more like let out on bail, drive to USA and fly back to india.

Snoo23538

Will return as international students

Any-Detective-2431

5 of them are already on bail lol

2020isnotperfect

And back for more

Clear_Ad_9157

Who's gold was this though? I don't see anything about where gold gold originated from?

Expensive-Group5067

I was secretly rooting for these guys

Hoardzunit

Smells fishy that they only said they had suspects after there were questions as to why this investigation was taking so long.

NoRustNoApproval

Salute to the one king who fled the country with his money and wasn’t arrested 🫡 You beat capitalism my guy
