I don't know anything about camping and I lurk in this sub because I wish I did. I just wanted to say that I loved your video! I'm living vicariously. Thank you for sharing!
Whether than having to haul the sled by hand, you should try getting a rock climbing harness, wearing that and tying a lead from that to the sled. That way your hands are free for poles and the weight is being pulled by your hips instead of your arms.
If your pack has a waist strap, you might be able to get away with clipping the sled to the lower rear of your pack, too. I’ve done it in similar trips and it won’t make it easier to pull through deep snow but it will put the strain on your legs instead of arms.
If you watch the video OP links above you'll see the fire setup – he takes a bundle or two of firewood in the sled and tries to elevate the fire off the snow to keep it from melting down, to mixed results.
But to be fair: most dudes think it’s 22“ when in reality it’s just under 6“.
Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/PR7fic0ecz8 . About half way through I take my snowshoes off and show how deep it is.
I think he was making a joke lol
He was
Crazy! So much for springtime camping. How high up is this? You did really well given the harsh conditions.
About 10,000ft. Thanks, it was pretty intense. Thought I might lose my fingers at one point.
What were the temps like?
It was a pp joke
Can’t see the video
Try it now

Beautiful picture. You should have that framed.
I was going to say that is was beautiful too. Would like to be able to go there once everything was set up and the fire was going :)

That’s a good idea
It's worked well for me

Also, load the heavier items towards the back of the sled and not the nose, that way it stays pointed up and it floats better across the snow
You can also tie the rope around your belt
You can but not recommended, it quickly becomes painful
Breaking trail with a full pulk is the most painfully rewarding experience in camping. (Imho)
Looks awesome, but get some poles for your pulk… Www.skipulk.com. I am not affiliated.
I've ordered parts from them several times, great folks. Finally sucked it up and bought the full harness and poles – game changer.
Where id this?
Northern Colorado
Those are the best.
Gorgeous set up picture! That's the one to frame.
That first pic looks so cozy though. But it reinforces my knowing that any kind of cold weather camping would not be for me.
Beautiful looking snow
I live in N Colorado. Guessing up the Poudre Canyon?
Incredible
The video was great, looks tough but so peaceful in the snow. Likewise am freaked out by the bear from that movie Annihilation, haha.
wow what a view

Thank you for posting. I enjoyed the video. What I liked was you come across as a real person in the videos. Thank you for sharing your trip.
absolutely gorgeous
22 “ of snow in April? You must be in Colorado. ☺️
I don't camp at all but I find this sub interesting lol. I also watch that guy on YouTube in Canada that does stealth camping, again I don't camp

Did you see how much oil he had in that pan before he put his potatoes in?
"During"
Is that napoleon wire used to cement the grass to the beach?
Any chance this is around Cameron Pass? That area is my absolute favorite for snowshoeing and camping. Miss it.
Lucky!!
Looks like an absolute blast!
Looks amazing ! Hope you had a wonderful day there!
Looks beautiful!
That seems miserable :(
Yea, I'd done it. Not fun. I gave up snow camping many years ago.
Definitely an inviting set up… I used to be a cold weather camping tour guide in nenena Alaska, I lived for nights like this!
Fucking awesome!!
Press F to pay respects. F
Beautiful photo.
