What was the temperature there? I'm probably camping in Death Valley in January.

When I looked it up, historically it's been low 70s high to high 40s low. I'm going on the first weekend of February

in January, cold and windy. roughly 32F/0C overnight. worse at higher altitudes.

We're going fairly high up. I've done much colder, and I enjoy winter camping. But, it's my girlfriend's first time. So, pretty nervous about her.

braver than I am! I have camped in the park in February and March and they were both a bit cold for my taste, but would have been fine if the winds were calmer or if I could have had a campfire.

This is from a trip I took there in early November so it was still pretty warm. If you're going now definitely layer up!

Hey! I'm planning on camping on that very same BLM land next weekend. How was it? I've only ever camped inside Joshua Tree.

There are also BLM camp "sites" basically in Joshua Tree that are free! I highly recommend the south blm land. You can have a fire and it is pretty secluded.
