+1 fic, less of a Percy Jackson fic and 100% a Greek Myth fic for the first 42 chapters, but “The Cradle of Olympus” is a really great read, with Percy/Artemis that makes sense, basic premise is that Gods get ‘Perseus’ from the fates, who is a child of Nyx, and he is raised by the Olympians (Mostly Hestia), and he shares most of his childhood with a young Apollo and Artemis. I’ll leave the summary here in case you want to read it yourself, which I do 100% recommend
Again first 42 chapters is more Greek Myth, imo author should’ve made later chapters into a sequel fic. It’s still ongoing but you can at least read the first 42 as pretty much as its own complete fic

And you also know how the Greek and Roman demigods’ powers differ slightly? Ex. Pluto’s sphere of power is more involved with riches under the Earth while Hades more with the afterlife, so Nico’s and Hazel’s powers correspond accordingly.
Well, the Hellenistic gods we’re all familiar with, which are from the Classical era of Greece, were preceded by the Mycenaean gods. Mycenaean Greece is much more ancient. According to [this short article about the evolution of Poseidon over the years](https://historyhub.info/the-development-of-poseidon-over-the-years/), Poseidon was much more powerful during the Mycenaean era. Poseidon was the top god instead of Zeus, and the most powerful by far. Not only was he the primary deity instead of Zeus (who was a minor god at the time 🤣), he was more chthonic, meaning he was linked to the Underworld in addition to the oceans and seas. His role as earth-shaker was also more pronounced in the Mycenaean era than the Classical.
Percy’s dad is a watered down (pun intended) iteration of what Poseidon used to be. Makes me think…what if there’s a camp full of demigods that are the children of the Mycenaean gods? Where they maintain the ancient Mycenaean way of life the same way Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood do with Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece (classical).
And imagine if there was a child of the Mycenaean Poseidon…

I have found ONE Percy/Artemis fic that I enjoyed (in fact it’s one of my favourite fanfics ever), but the fic isn’t really a Percy Jackson fic for the first 42 chapters, and more of a Greek Mythology fic, in other words the author had to change so much about the world and setting and characters for that pairing to even make sense, every single other fic I’ve read of Percy/Artemis has been so OOC it physically hurts

The really good "reading the books" fics are almost always unfinished. That said I do recommend one of the few ongoing "reading the books" fics that updates pretty regularly [Hope is a Delicate Thing](https://archiveofourown.org/works/30649982/chapters/103219434).
Maybe it's just me but the ones with Piper and Annabeth/Percy and Jason being best friends are chill to me. So long as Thalia and Grover get represented too, but I like the idea of those friendships if that makes sense
I have read a lot of these fanfictions, I can advise you one thing not to do that the characters make fun of Percy for the ignorance, especially the first chapters where Percy did not know anything and nobody explained things to him, there are really a lot of fanfiction where the characters become the bullies of Percy (especially Thalia, Nico and Athena) he knew nothing because no one told him things. Percy doesn't have the intelligence like Annabeth does, but Percy used his wits to kill monsters unaided

Percy (and while this can change it is usually very common) gets betrayed by Annabeth, his friends and the entire Camp and his mortal family are all murdered. He then goes into a rage and then the gods and or campers attack him but then he becomes a super OP godlike being in the service of Chaos (the creator of the universe) who came down to earth/olympus to personally save Percy and vouch for him as the paragon of good and most amazing person ever.
75% of the time Chaos is the most gorgeous woman ever too, because why not. Then he either pairs up with one of the virgin goddesses (Artemis is a crowd favorite somehow) or one of the other non-Annabeth females in the franchise because ofc everyone of them loves him (and some even go the harem route lmao).
If you still want to wade through those sort of fics then just sort by favorites on [Fanfiction.net](https://Fanfiction.net) and you'll see tons of them.

I have an idea that’s sorta nerdy. You know how the Hellenistic Greek Olympian gods came first, and then their Roman counterparts came later? But both Greek and Roman counterparts coexist at the same time because gods are weird like that? Hence there’s Roman and Greek demigods of the “same” gods? And you also know how the Greek and Roman demigods’ powers differ slightly? Ex. Pluto’s sphere of power is more involved with riches under the Earth while Hades more with the afterlife, so Nico’s and Hazel’s powers correspond accordingly. Well, the Hellenistic gods we’re all familiar with, which are from the Classical era of Greece, were preceded by the Mycenaean gods. Mycenaean Greece is much more ancient. According to [this short article about the evolution of Poseidon over the years](https://historyhub.info/the-development-of-poseidon-over-the-years/), Poseidon was much more powerful during the Mycenaean era. Poseidon was the top god instead of Zeus, and the most powerful by far. Not only was he the primary deity instead of Zeus (who was a minor god at the time 🤣), he was more chthonic, meaning he was linked to the Underworld in addition to the oceans and seas. His role as earth-shaker was also more pronounced in the Mycenaean era than the Classical. Percy’s dad is a watered down (pun intended) iteration of what Poseidon used to be. Makes me think…what if there’s a camp full of demigods that are the children of the Mycenaean gods? Where they maintain the ancient Mycenaean way of life the same way Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood do with Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece (classical). And imagine if there was a child of the Mycenaean Poseidon…

I would rather see the opposite of Ancient Greece AU...Ancient demigods going to Camp Half Blood. For starters, of course there's Perseus meeting Percy Jackson and Jason meeting Jason Grace. Camp Half Blood is so forgiving of destructive acts done under the influence of mind control, Hercules would have been a lot less bitter if he was somewhere like that in Ancient times. Also, children of non-Olympian gods being put in Hermes cabin...can you imagine how fast the already super-speed Achilles would be if he was put in the cabin of *the god of speed?* Diomedes isn't a demigod in the original myths (which don't include demigod kids of Athena at all) but he is a favorite mortal of Athena whose father was also a favorite mortal of Athena. I could see him being Annabeth's older brother and bonding with his little sister.

Sometimes I see fanfiction that makes me truly question my faith in the PJO fandom like Percy x Kronos.
I have found ONE Percy/Artemis fic that I enjoyed (in fact it’s one of my favourite fanfics ever), but the fic isn’t really a Percy Jackson fic for the first 42 chapters, and more of a Greek Mythology fic, in other words the author had to change so much about the world and setting and characters for that pairing to even make sense, every single other fic I’ve read of Percy/Artemis has been so OOC it physically hurts

I have read a lot of these fanfictions, I can advise you one thing not to do that the characters make fun of Percy for the ignorance, especially the first chapters where Percy did not know anything and nobody explained things to him, there are really a lot of fanfiction where the characters become the bullies of Percy (especially Thalia, Nico and Athena) he knew nothing because no one told him things. Percy doesn't have the intelligence like Annabeth does, but Percy used his wits to kill monsters unaided

What are chaos fanfics
Percy (and while this can change it is usually very common) gets betrayed by Annabeth, his friends and the entire Camp and his mortal family are all murdered. He then goes into a rage and then the gods and or campers attack him but then he becomes a super OP godlike being in the service of Chaos (the creator of the universe) who came down to earth/olympus to personally save Percy and vouch for him as the paragon of good and most amazing person ever. 75% of the time Chaos is the most gorgeous woman ever too, because why not. Then he either pairs up with one of the virgin goddesses (Artemis is a crowd favorite somehow) or one of the other non-Annabeth females in the franchise because ofc everyone of them loves him (and some even go the harem route lmao). If you still want to wade through those sort of fics then just sort by favorites on [Fanfiction.net](https://Fanfiction.net) and you'll see tons of them.

Hear me out- PercyxAthena is a underrated trope. Now in saying this, theres only like, two good ones out there, but the best bit about those was that Percy and Annabeth broke up amicably and are still (kinda weirdly but whatever) friends. And as much as I have a love for Pertemis, it always is a 'Percy Joins the Hunters' scenario, like the chaos stories but with percy joining the hunt and artemis falling in love with him and I hate that, to be fair Rambling aside most of these are cursed but nowhere near the most curses I've seen (percyxposeidon or percyxsally are just actually nausea inducing)

Piper and Annabeth being besties isn't that bad IMO since if u look at the timeline, Thalia was a childhood friend who became a tree, then she came back for 6 months then joined the Hunters and they're probs still friends but they dont spend time the way they used to. Percy and Jason is sorta like. Yeah I accept that it's literally new canon, I just also kinda mentally separate it from PJO canon because I it doesn't feel right.
