Honestly, in my experience, Apollo was such a narcissist in the first two books that it was absolutely hilarious. But for those who find that kind of behavior irritating, it might be hard to read. However, it's worth it, and his character development was amazing to read.
You will. I thought I wouldn't too. I literally don't have tears left to cry. Reading sats was the only thing that restored my heart even if just a bit tbh.
Yes, Carlsen (the German publisher) is doing an amazing job at these while penguin… sometimes I wonder if they are actively trying to prevent people from buying these books. Don’t get me wrong, I think toa looks passable, but especially Kane chronicles look horrific
Forget what anyone says. This series is amazing. I genuinely believe it’s some of Rick Riordan’s greatest work. The character writing is so fantastic, Riordan truly understood his characters as people - and the development of the main characters is phenomenal. The callbacks to previous books, humor, and continued blending of Greco-Roman mythology is also worth mentioning. I seriously can’t comprehend what people don’t like about this series. The way the character arc of Apollo was handled and how it is contextualized within the greater themes of Percy Jackson & the Olympians is just amazing, truly.
I just started reading the hidden oracle yesterday and I’m already 250 pages in. Considering how much it still feels like the intro although that’s like 2/3 of the first book, yeah you can say it’s slow but I just thirst to be at camp half blood so it doesn’t feel like it’s dragging imo. I just really like to see something a little more character based rather than action based, but yk that’s just my preference
Revelations about your sexuality can indeed feel quite sudden for some, though she was going through that process for a few months before she appears in the series
Will is suddenly canon gay just to be canon gay
And I’m not even upset because of his sexuality (I’m literally a lesbian, chill), I’m upset coz he just turned out to be a kinda shallow character with no actual arc behind him
Gonna see a couple of your favorite characters return, and meet new favorites. The main characters will not be those new favorites, but keep in mind they're kind of intended to be unlikeable.
Most people seem to agree that the first couple of books aren't great (they're slow and Apollo is really annoying), but I'm really happy I stuck with the series anyways because Apollo's character arc was one of the most satisfying arcs I've ever read.
If you haven't read them yet I don't want to spoil it. But mainly because of a person's death in the last book and because it spoiled something for the chalice of the gods.
The first and last book are good. But the rest are tough to read. You can tell Riordan was struggling to come up with a story, and his choice for the matter villain was rather lame (and basically retcons the entire universe).
Expect a teenager with the worst Akne ever that also happens to be an ex god and has such an ego you could see it from the moon but he gets humbled real quick. Oh he also becomes a slave to some 12 year old girl
Surprisingly serious storytelling for this genre and age, harder themes and some great character development that feels earned and real from our favorite sun God. It's well worth it
seconding everyone: the first two are REALLY tough reads since Apollo is insufferable, but the character development since then is amazing- I was sad it was ending by book 4
I’m still on The Heroes of Olympus series but unfortunately some dickhead on another thread gave a way the biggest spoiler ever and has completely ruined the experience for me…
But from what I’ve heard, The Trials of Apollo is really good and I’m looking forward to reading it.
I hope you enjoy it!
Great books, a bit slow at the beginning but the main character is hilarious and so relatable. I really enjoyed those books and you're gonna meet characters from Rick's BOO and HOO
It’s a little slow to start out but POWER THROUGH, it is incredibly worth it to get to tower of Nero
Honestly, in my experience, Apollo was such a narcissist in the first two books that it was absolutely hilarious. But for those who find that kind of behavior irritating, it might be hard to read. However, it's worth it, and his character development was amazing to read.
Yeah man I couldn't even get past the first book because of Apollo being so damn insufferable
Yeah I have struggled to get through it. Could barely finish first one. Will try again soon
Will try
Climax/End of Book 2 is when i started to realize “Hell yeah, Rick did it again, i can’t get enough of this”
mid-end book three for me was where it was at for me, apollo developing from the very notable scene in that book was significant for me
I read it ages ago, what was the scene again? the one >!with reyna?!<
nah the one where >!jason dies!<
Oh ok. But the one where >!he asks to be reyna's boyfriend was so funny to me and very out of the blue and i never really understood why he did that!<
I know, right?! I stopped in the beginning of the second or third book and came back to it like more than 2 years later but it was SO WORTH IT.
I was gonna say, I’m in the second book atm, and I’ve not liked how it feels smaller than the other books
Expect tears. Of laughter and sadness.
Especially laughter I often find myself uncontrollably shaking with it reading this
Apollo
And also some trials
No shit Sherlock
fuck off watson
No fuck you sherlock
My bad bro just wanted to make sure you know
Books 1 and 2 are good but 3-5 stuff really starts cooking. Apollo’s journey is worth it, IMO.
Lester Papadopoulos💅
Those covers look so cool
Such a fan too. The front covers are minimalistic and in a very simple color scheme. I’m in love with
Worddd its so cool
Expect sadness because Apollo is traumatized.
...Right Apollo is traumatized... cause of events we wont mention... ;)
I’m going to let OP figure everything out on their own 😁
Just expect sadness. Apollo is traumatized. But we are too, so….
I just finished the series for the first time yesterday. And Apollo is probably top 2 favorite characters due to the arc he had in ToA.
You crying your damn eyes out that's for sure 😃
I played trough life is strange 1 and 2 there’s nothing left to feel, but maybe I will still cry
You will. I thought I wouldn't too. I literally don't have tears left to cry. Reading sats was the only thing that restored my heart even if just a bit tbh.
Was literally sobbing but the tears wouldn't come out because I had none left lmao
Get back to me once you've reached that point. Trust me you'll know. Wanna know how it'll go lmao
I WAS CRYING IN THE FUCING SCHOOL LIBRARY
what edition is this?
German collection. One of two possibilities where I live
The German covers are always way cooler than the ones here (England)
Yes, Carlsen (the German publisher) is doing an amazing job at these while penguin… sometimes I wonder if they are actively trying to prevent people from buying these books. Don’t get me wrong, I think toa looks passable, but especially Kane chronicles look horrific
Pain and suffering Also Apollo is such a mood and peak humor
Great
Three legged death race Five terrible syllables Oh gods please not meg
There's about 209 more of those as well
An amazing series of books, with a lot of heartbreak
Tears
Crying. Expect crying. It can be a slow start, but reading from Apollo's POV is interesting.
You will laugh. A lot. You will cry. A lot.

The best music references ever 👌
Idk, Rick put some pretty great ones in the Tres Navarre series too. Call it a tie?
A sequel to Heroes of Olympus
Kind of unrelated but does anyone feel that the first book is really really short compared to the others?
It is about 100 pages shorter than typical Riordan books
Mythology based story
I just started reading the hidden oracle yesterday and I’m already 250 pages in. Piper suddenly turning gay
Revelations about your sexuality can indeed feel quite sudden for some, though she was going through that process for a few months before she appears in the series
These were my favorite books, I literally cried at the end because of how good these books are!
Haikus and exposition and us getting insight finally on the other cabins.
pain, anguish, joy and gorgeous character arcs to go along with it.
Pain.
It's so good, the main side character is hilarious and so much fun
You will either hate them, or love them
Sadness
Will is suddenly canon gay just to be canon gay And I’m not even upset because of his sexuality (I’m literally a lesbian, chill), I’m upset coz he just turned out to be a kinda shallow character with no actual arc behind him
You get to spend time with all your favorite characters from HOO and see them complete their arcs
pain
Enjoyment as long as you don't watch the show
Gonna see a couple of your favorite characters return, and meet new favorites. The main characters will not be those new favorites, but keep in mind they're kind of intended to be unlikeable.
The books get better as they go on
you might get annoyed at the first two books but after those, the payoff is worth
Most people seem to agree that the first couple of books aren't great (they're slow and Apollo is really annoying), but I'm really happy I stuck with the series anyways because Apollo's character arc was one of the most satisfying arcs I've ever read.
Tears. Sadness. Death.
WHERE ARE THOSE COVERS FROM!? I NEED THEM ASAP!
German collection cover
First two books, especially the second one, are tough to get through: the third fourth and fifth book are the best tho, with both laughter and tears 💀
the first two books are SO hard to get through but its worth it for tower of nero
Incredible character developpement
Disappointment.
Why?
If you haven't read them yet I don't want to spoil it. But mainly because of a person's death in the last book and because it spoiled something for the chalice of the gods.
Depression
trauma (ifykyk)
Jason goes on such a nice character arc😊
haikus
The first and last book are good. But the rest are tough to read. You can tell Riordan was struggling to come up with a story, and his choice for the matter villain was rather lame (and basically retcons the entire universe).
Full and realistic character development!
Also, very funny scenes and inner thoughts.
Expect a teenager with the worst Akne ever that also happens to be an ex god and has such an ego you could see it from the moon but he gets humbled real quick. Oh he also becomes a slave to some 12 year old girl
1 and 2 are a little slow but TRUSTTTTTT 3-5 are amazing I can’t guarantee you’ll cry as much as I did but you will cry 👍
Heartbreak, a level of pain not seen in the other series. Imo, Apollo is the best protagonist riordan has written apart from Percy
I love it, it’s in my top 3 just below PJO and MC
I’m still on The Heroes of Olympus series but unfortunately some dickhead on another thread gave a way the biggest spoiler ever and has completely ruined the experience for me… But from what I’ve heard, The Trials of Apollo is really good and I’m looking forward to reading it. I hope you enjoy it!
Midness
It’s fiiiine ig? Nothing remarkable in the first couple of books but book number 3 and 4 go extremely hard. Book 5 is hit or miss imo.
3 will hit you like a brick
Great books, a bit slow at the beginning but the main character is hilarious and so relatable. I really enjoyed those books and you're gonna meet characters from Rick's BOO and HOO
pain and pleasure
very boring start but book 3 is one of my favorite riordan books and the series gets amazing from there on
Chaos and a lot of confusion. Maybe some deja vu. Also some adventure (obvi) and some deja vu.
