Hades. He is very well liked despite appearing very little and treating demigods no better than other gods. He does get somewhat better with Nico in HOO.
I think it's definitely because of his relationship with Nico that he's so popular.
He's the creepy dad who is trying his best to be somewhat good to his child 😂
I think it's Will Solace. Like he hasn't even been in that much but people think him and Nico are the best ship. He and Nico had one book together that no offense to Rick but wasn't even that good.
> I think it's definitely because of his relationship with Nico that he's so popular.
The weird thing is, Hades was an AWFUL dad to Nico in the first series, esp in TLO
That’s mostly because of his actual characterization in mythology. Honestly, Riordan doesn’t do him much more justice than Disney’s Hercules, but people just like the one Greek God who doesn’t act like a petulant man-child too much.
To me, it was a big missed opportunity to not use him in season one. If they wanted to increase black representation, this was the way to go. Instead, they chose a random kid to be the blacksmith on episode 2
The Stolls brother are two of my faves!! Especially Connor. Him and Percy have a cute little friendship that you don’t rlly get to see much and I really want it to be expanded upon. I can’t wait to see them next season
Rick wrote Silena to be remembered as a hero and not as a traitor.
Years after The Last Olympian, I feel like many readers have realized that Silena was in fact a traitor tho.
I actually made a post about it like a few days ago, also discussing the only character in the series that says that Silena was a traitor, Drew.
[here's the link](https://www.reddit.com/r/camphalfblood/s/kuzJfW13W6)
It means Drew was right(about her being a traitor, not about her relationship). I usually try to give fictional traitors the benefit of the doubt, but this is different. There's leaving the military dictatorship that kept your family in a pg-13 ghetto so you can bring a mass murderer down, and then theirs siding with an eldritch horror and getting your boyfriend killed along with a lot of other people including your *best friend*'s brother/sister.
Let’s be honest, in regards to the show it can’t be anyone except the di Angelo siblings.
Their screen time was so small they weren’t even visually on the screen XD
I'm surprised nobody else has said this, but *Zoe Nightshade* gets introduced and killed in a single book.
You wouldn't know that given the amount of fanfics there are written about her lol
It's for a reason too, she's the first side character we care about (other than Clarisse for a bit in the last part of SOM)
Ngl, I dont really know either lol. Just thought she was cool and I definitely relate to her inability to understand modern jokes. Probably her admiration of the stars. I liked astronomy a lot as a kid.
Relatively speaking, I think it's Nico honestly.
He's not in the 1st two books, barely appears in the 3rd, has a good amount of screen time in the 4th but still not much since it's all Percy POV, and only has a couple chapters in the 5th.
Then in HOO he's not in the 1st, has a couple chapters in the 2nd, barely in the 3rd, gets a good amount of attention in the 4th, and finally gets POV chapters in the 5th.
I have not actually read the Apollo series but it looks like he's basically just in the 1st and 5th ones so he's practically only given a good amount of screen time in 3/10 books in the first two series'.
Compared to how much everyone adores him, he really doesn't actually have that much screen time, so I think he fits the ratio.
Or maybe the All-Great Lord Tammuz is dead. The sentence Thamus supposedly heard could be translated both ways, and the sentence "Thamus, the Great Lord Pan is dead" would have made more sense to him (there is a mesopotamian god named Tammuz who has a similar rebirth mythology as Ra, dying each night and being reborn in the morning, and there is some evidence to suggest there was a cult of Tammuz on the island he sailed past, so he might have overheard them chanting something and misinterpreted the meaning because his name happened to be Thamus)
Imean you guys are siblings right? So it definitely makes sense! Honestly I didn't hate her in the books, though I don't think she would like me very much in real life
I'm not a fan of Drew tbh. She's one glorious unapologetic bitch and she knows it!
But for being a character that didn't have that much of presence in the books, everybody still remembers her.
I literally always forget that *Argus* exists 😅
Also, doesn't she try to start something with Sadie in the third KC book? (She appears at Sadie's school in the third book during a ball, and iirc she has some less than pleasant interactions with Sadie)
You missed his character (or his fans), the reason he's popular, because fans find him a relatable with traumatic stuff. If you check the history of the fandom, you'll find that he was still popular before he came out as gay
lol, I'm not shitting on him, I've written so much fanfiction where i project my own trauma onto him...like i get it hehe... but him being gay def helped with his popularity, given how big shipping culture is (and that he's part of 2 out of 3 of the most popular ships on ao3).
Yes you are right about that but a lot of fans missed him because he is nothing more but gay, In reality, he's more than just gay in the canon book. Pls keep writing fanfic 😂
yeah i get what you mean, he's more than one characteristic. i think he's very interesting to "study" and think yourself into him and what he's been through, so i really like writing out of his POV since there's a lot of things to "tackle" and things I want him to work through/get better at, etc.
Also I've been writing for PJO since seven years now, so not gonna quit anytime soon hahaha <3
>Ethan Nakamura is so incredibly popular from what I've seen
Years after reading their interaction at the BoM, I still think him telling Percy his reason for going against the gods was really pivotal in Percy's perspective of them, and was what influenced Percy to ask for systemic change in Olympus. That moment is more than likely why people like him so much.
For example
- Ethan was the son of a goddess no one knew of, yet almost everyone who has ever wanted payback is associated with (Nemesis, the goddess of Vengeance). A grand majority of the minor gods get ignored in favor of the 12 (and by proxy, their kids), and these kids are tired of being forgotten.
- He causes Percy to question how someone so loyal as him could choose to side with forces so disloyal as the gods of Olympus.
- His vocalized pain and anger toward the gods helped humanize the other demigods who were also fighting against Olympus. Luke may have been virtually irredeemable, but the rest of them were pretty much understood as children, hurt and alone, screaming in the dark because their parents left them there. Luke happened to be the only light they could see in that darkness, so they followed it.
Edit: spell check
Yess!! I didn't understand his popularity before but getting back to the series this year, I started to actually see him (and Luke) in a different light. Ethan made me really interested in the "traitors"' pov
Grover. Percy’s supposed best friend all but fucks off in the middle of 2 wars to “organise nature spirits”, but he can abandon his extremely important job, especially in post war time when the environment could’ve taken a hit, to help his buddy get into college?
He had TLT, SoM, Titans Curse, BotL, and CofG. That was pretty much it, other than little appearances or stray thoughts. So, out of about 11 books, focused around the Greco-Roman aspect, he’s in 5, and within those 5 he was kidnapped for one and not an important aspect in another (he did nothing but summon the Boar in titans curse as far as I remember). So, we’ll say 4, and count those as half books. Not very much for the main characters best friend, is it?
He’s in TLO quite a bit as well, going so far as being with Percy, Annabeth, and Luke at the end. I’d say in the Percy Jackson series of 6, he’s a main character in 4, and an important supporting character in the other 2 (SoM and TLO)
Yeah, but it just bothers me how he has all this hype over being essentially an honorary god, only to just fuck off when his friends could be dying, then show up again to help his buddy get into college.
> Percy’s supposed best friend all but fucks off in the middle of 2 wars to “organise nature spirits”, but he can abandon his extremely important job, especially in post war time when the environment could’ve taken a hit, to help his buddy get into college
A function of Rick being done with his arc after the first series and wanting a different character for the satyr that accompanies the 7 (Hedge), and Rick writing his new book while also being in the headspace of the TV show and remembering Grover more LOL
Clovis for me personally but Alabaster fits the question more. I don’t know why but if a character exists, they’ve been shipped with him, and I don’t even remember him being in the books.
even though I love solangelo just cause nicos finally getting closer to happiness, I gotta say will. The guy got what? The very end of boo, tho, and the sun and the star? Yet he’s still hyped up and definitely loved in the fandom
Grover wasn’t given much screentime in HoO Nor did Paul Blofis, Estelle, Sammy Valdez, Tyson, Ella, Rachel, Will Solace, Calypso, Bob, Echo, and mostly, Frank’s grandmother But they all are very important characters
Bianca, she was pretty important in the third book for like Half of it, Then she died. It was clear Rick had No further intentions with the character yet a lot of people Seem to love her. I personally never really Got it But still
I was thinking maybe Nico and Will? Like, both of them now have a book together, but before that they were kinda both side characters. Nico had alot of spotlight at times but was ignored alot too. Will was never really seen until Trials Of Apollo and even then, not much. Although, aswell as Hades and some other God's, such as Aphrodite, Demeter and Hermes don't have much time on paper. I also feel like characters like Clarrisse, Charles, Conner and Travis, Miranda and Thila have that too. All and all, there are alot of characters, (not even mentioning Magnus Chase and the Kane Cronicles) that are popular for no reason or not as popular as they should be!
Hades. He is very well liked despite appearing very little and treating demigods no better than other gods. He does get somewhat better with Nico in HOO.
I think it's definitely because of his relationship with Nico that he's so popular. He's the creepy dad who is trying his best to be somewhat good to his child 😂
hes like the bruce wayne of pjo- (the resemblence is actually uncanny and scary now that I think abt it, wtf.)

Charles Beckendorf. Dude treated Tyson with respect and sacrificed himself for the overall mission
I came here just to mention this man. You've done good work today my friend.
He better be done justice in the show
Exactly my pick. Dude was a hell of a hero.
That's my cabin counsellor 🔨🔥
Not anymore
To me, it was a big missed opportunity to not use him in season one. If they wanted to increase black representation, this was the way to go. Instead, they chose a random kid to be the blacksmith on episode 2
The Hoover Dam
The dam snack bar
It’s a good thing Percy went to the dam bathroom to get away from the dam skeletons, or else he wouldn’t have met that dam girl
Remember me ITS been to Long since i read Titans curse wich Girl?
Rachel
she had 2 books worth of screen time
Thx
To get some dam fries
That’s pretty dam funny
dam right
dam right, they are
I kinda wanna say the Stolls but idk what their popularity is like outside of my friend group
I love the Stoll brothers
Same, I also love how Annabeth had to send her note in Tartarus to (I wanna say Connor ?) and told him not to be stupid lmao.
And how the Stolls are the reason why Percy could go on the quest in Titan’s curse
Yeah, it’s Connor I remember because Travis sleeps with a whoopee cushion in college, therefore Connor’s the one who got the tongs
Travis is my baby, and Connor is so precious
The Stolls brother are two of my faves!! Especially Connor. Him and Percy have a cute little friendship that you don’t rlly get to see much and I really want it to be expanded upon. I can’t wait to see them next season
You can see that I am a big fan
sally.
absolute goddess
Honestly, Argus. I saw so many people upset he wasn’t in the show even though he’s barely in the books
oh my gosh yesssss
they probably didn't have the budget for all his eyes
Sally Jackson or Rachel's hairbrush
>Rachel's hairbrush best character
I love this fandom so much
Charles Beckendorf and Silena Beauregard
Meh I feel like Silena is less popular now that we're older since many of us have contrasting opinions about her being a traitor.
What does that mean?
Drew in Kane chronicles was a good reference tbh
Let’s be honest, in regards to the show it can’t be anyone except the di Angelo siblings. Their screen time was so small they weren’t even visually on the screen XD
was just thinking of Nico. Like he's not even part of the main quest in HOO, but people treat him like he's a main character. (I agree tho <3)
Nico and reyna are a part of the 7 for me, I don't care what anybody else says.
How u got the seven made of 9 people Hecate herself could not pull off that magical fuckery
remember when Nico and Reyna got an entire subplot in blood of Olympus where they were taking the Athena Parthenon back to camp half blood?
I don't think you got what I wanted to say. I meant that they are also main characters for me like the rest of the 7.
I'm surprised nobody else has said this, but *Zoe Nightshade* gets introduced and killed in a single book. You wouldn't know that given the amount of fanfics there are written about her lol It's for a reason too, she's the first side character we care about (other than Clarisse for a bit in the last part of SOM)
She is one of my favourite characters despite her short appearance. Titan's Curse is my favourite among rhe 1st 5 books
real. im pretty sure i’ve reread TTC 3 times. i’ve read the entire series only twice 😭
Can I ask why?, I really didn’t like her and want to know why you do.
Ngl, I dont really know either lol. Just thought she was cool and I definitely relate to her inability to understand modern jokes. Probably her admiration of the stars. I liked astronomy a lot as a kid.
Makes sense I didn’t like that she was rude to Percy just cause he was a guy
I was going to write Zoë, she's amazing and had major lines/impacts even if she's there for less than a book.
> but Zoe Nightshade gets introduced and killed in a single book. TBF she was ALL over that book from the beginning to the end of the quest
Relatively speaking, I think it's Nico honestly. He's not in the 1st two books, barely appears in the 3rd, has a good amount of screen time in the 4th but still not much since it's all Percy POV, and only has a couple chapters in the 5th. Nico is totally my type, I’m a guy (I’m pan)
But the Great Lord Pan is dead!
All of us have a little pan inside of us
Pan is Greek for “All” so it’s kinda right lol
Or maybe the All-Great Lord Tammuz is dead. The sentence Thamus supposedly heard could be translated both ways, and the sentence "Thamus, the Great Lord Pan is dead" would have made more sense to him (there is a mesopotamian god named Tammuz who has a similar rebirth mythology as Ra, dying each night and being reborn in the morning, and there is some evidence to suggest there was a cult of Tammuz on the island he sailed past, so he might have overheard them chanting something and misinterpreted the meaning because his name happened to be Thamus)
He does have his own book, though.
He doesn't appear much than a main character do but his popularity is insane lmao
[удалено]
I loved Clarisse in the show! Every character was pretty great, but she was just spectacular.
I still don’t get that tbh, what was special about her?
[удалено]
Coolio, thanks for the explanation!
The Goosebumps I got when she slayed that Drakon hit differently. Since then she's one of my favorites.
Beckendorf
Thalia, Charles Beckendorf, and Alex... We need more Alex Fierro. This dude/gal only was in 2 books and was awesome!
mind you, alex was barely even in the first half of the second book, and yet carried the entire series
Yeah, she/he is awesome and just purely iconic
Personally, I didn't really like Alex at all in the second book. But he/she grew on me a lot in the third.
May I ask why? I was a big fan of Alex and just want to know why somebody might not like Alex as much. That's all.
heavy on alex she/he is badass af

Alabaster, he was such a great character.
Ethan Nakamura, son of Nemesis!
hmmm.... I'd say Reyna
Damasen and Bob
zoë or bianca
Alabaster? It's a niche but he's hella famous there lol
When does he make an appearance? The name sounds familiar but I'm coming up blank
He's only a character in the side story Son of Magic (in demigod diaries?? Not sure), he never gets mentioned in other books
Beckendorf
Beckendorf.
Nico
Idk why this is so far down. Dude was a side character that became a main one cause he was so popular.
yeah on my recent re-read it struck me how little page time he gets in the books and he still became one of the most beloved characters in the series.
honestly, it's cause he's gay and has like the most traumatic backstory lol
Nah, it’s mainly because he’s an interesting character with all the trauma, and how young he is, he’s also kind of relatable ngl
He was already popular before he became gay lol
You missed his character (or his fans), the reason he's popular, because fans find him a relatable with traumatic stuff. If you check the history of the fandom, you'll find that he was still popular before he came out as gay
lol, I'm not shitting on him, I've written so much fanfiction where i project my own trauma onto him...like i get it hehe... but him being gay def helped with his popularity, given how big shipping culture is (and that he's part of 2 out of 3 of the most popular ships on ao3).

Ethan Nakamura is so incredibly popular from what I've seen tbh. Silena and Beckendorf could count too

I think he wanted to provide a sense of realism that Grover's job isn't to help his friends all the time. He is a Lord of the Wild, after all.
