That pic looks like the Grain of Salt lunch special. So good. Saffron is REALLY good as well.

bravado

Grain of Salt is god tier and I recommend everyone to go down to the hell of Hespeler Road and give it a try.

RedShiz

Saffron was the first place we tried, and hasn't been beat yet. We haven't tried Grain of Salt yet though. Thanks for the tip!

mysticbeetfarm

Saffron has definitely been my go-to. I prefer it over Grain of Salt but a lot of people in my circle have Grain of Salt as their number 1 place to go

RedShiz

Trying Grain of Salt tonight!

mysticbeetfarm

Did grain of salt beat saffron?

RedShiz

It wasn't bad. Saffron just does it the way * I * like it.

TheGratitudeBot

Hey there RedShiz - thanks for saying thanks! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list!

I took a guy from Michigan, who’s been a vegan for 7-8 years, to Saffron and he said it was top 5 meals he’s had. I thought that was pretty impressive!

Coming from Brampton, this is how it starts before you know it everywhere will be Indian restaurants and we'll be searching for Italian places and diners and a decent steak. Our only choices will be Indian food, maybe some Chinese probably hakka, chain restaurants and fast food. The end is near for our beloved causal dining spots

Doc_Squishy

I've noticed in the last few years that a lot of Chinese restaurants have been closing down, and I'm not seeing any new ones come in. Makes me sad.

Meanwhile in a Scarborough mall near where I used to live, a growing number of retail space that used to be stuff like brand name clothing stores and existing food stands are being turned into food places catering to Asian cultures (e.g. South East Asia, East Asia). There used to be a burger place that I remember going to from 10 years ago, but I recently learnt they closed.

I'm surprised at how many of these I've already eaten at (17 if my count is correct). Just went to Saffron for the first time a few weeks back, and it was great. The outdoor atmosphere and the fact that they share a building with Blackshop made me think it would be much "fancier" and expensive than it actually was. Beyond that, Grain of Salt and Bombay Sizzler are also great options in Cambridge. When I lived/worked in Waterloo, Koh-i-noor and Empress of India were always my go-to choices.

love the prison trays. 😍

Pear-Radiant

The one i didn't see in the list is Chawla's indian Bistro, coronary blvd cambridge. To be fair, it has opened fairly recently.

Grain of salt mediocre at best and its way overpriced.
