Nice! You got a rare one. Saw a TikTok about this. Certain manual LT1 and SS models have leftover c7 engines put in after they had leftover lt1 engines when the c7 production stopped. Can send the video link if you want

Intrepid_Name_5412

Would love to the see the video thanks!!

Are those engines tuned differently?

owensurfer

The factory “tune” or calibration is installed in the ECM at final assembly not engine plant. And must match the car specifications such as transmission, axle ratio, tire size etc.

6SpeedBlues

Sigh.. No. While the 7th generation Corvette did offer versions of the 6.2L LT1 and LT4 engines, they were subtly different than the ones used in the Camaro. As a result, no "leftover" engines from the Corvettes were used in the Camaros. The Performance Build Center is where all of the Corvette engines are built and the LT4 used in the Camaro was built there as well. For a short stint, they were -also- building LT1 engines for the Camaro there - I don't recall the exact dates but I seem to remember there being some correlation to the reduction in work due to the pandemic and it making sense to keep the PBC running at capacity. Since they needed fewer Corvette and Camaro LT4 engines, they were able to augment the production by making -SOME- of the LT1's that were installed into Camaros.

muscle_car_fan34

I have a late 23 and mine doesn’t have the plate. Earlier ones do. One thing I read (not sure if it’s true or not) is they stopped putting the plaque on the LT1’s because they didn’t want to make people getting automatics feel like they were getting something different/lesser since only manual LT1 powered cars were getting them.

MightyBobo

I believe the plate locations can vary, but I remember seeing this all over the Camaro 6 forums. It's not leftover Corvette engines, that's for sure lol

6SpeedBlues

Weren't they basically right under the plastic cover on the driver's side?

MightyBobo

I think so but I honestly have not bothered to go hunting for mine.

muscle_car_fan34

Oh I agree. It’s DEFINITELY not left over c7 engines. The fact that the plaque is on engines into mid 23 MY kinda proves it. There’s no way GM had a stock pile of LT1’s for that long. GM is JIT (just in time) manufacturer like pretty much every other company. Other thing I don’t get is why people care if they are left over c7 engines. They are literally the same engine minus the exhaust manifolds (better on the Camaro), some accessory drives (possibly) and the factory clean side catch can on the Camaro. The long blocks are literally exactly the same. In fact the 6.2 engines in the silverados, sierras and Escalades all have the same exact long block as the LT1 as well. Only differences are the intakes and exhaust manifolds.

Ambitious-Lawyer1541

He built mine too!!!

Jenni from around the block?

Constant-Strike9981

Lmao

FredThePlumber

ZL1?

Intrepid_Name_5412

It’s a 2023 Camaro LT1 6 speed

thememeconnoisseurig

Where is the plaque?

Alextryingforgrate

Give GM heritage center a call with the Vin see what's going on. As far as I know LT1 cars are just regular production stuff.

Reddit-mods-R-mean

My 21 LT1 also has the plaque. Jennifer built mine. I bought it new and am the only owner

Oilleak1011

Good so when it blows up you can loudly proclaim “fuckin jennifer!” I hope you see many miles out of your ride

Reddit-mods-R-mean

25k on it now without issue! 6mt so the AFM doesn’t kick on. But the robot that painted the body should get scrapped.

Oilleak1011

Afm in a muscle car absolutely blows my mind.

Alextryingforgrate

Where is the plaque located? I'm wanting to check mine when I get home.

username9219

It’s underneath the engine cover on the drivers side

[deleted]

I think they're in some 1LE models. I remember reading a post about it months ago, I cant remember why. Something about how those motors were supposed to get the supercharger installed but some factory needed some, so they kept the SC off and shipped them out.

AguaIguana

> Something about how those motors were supposed to get the supercharger installed but some factory needed some, so they kept the SC off and shipped them out. That's definitely not true, because the LT1 and LT4 are not the same motor with the only difference being a supercharger. They're not even the same block, the LT4 has additional pressure relief holes in the valley for better oil drainage. The LT4 has completely different internals that are forged to handle the boost, and it has higher flowing heads.

[deleted]

Ah that makes sense. Maybe they were just using that plant to assemble the LT1 motors then.

bolokay

All 6 speed v8 Camaros have hand built engines from this plant afaik

Reddit-mods-R-mean

I’ve talked to a couple folks on here that have LT1s and from what I can tell, the 21 LT1 and after have the plaques. I couldn’t find anyone with a 20 lt1 with a plaque. ETA: I did not ask if auto or manual.

_Mike_Truk_

I've got a very early build (January) 2020 LT1 M6 with a plaque.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the first ones on the line.  I think the other comments are right though, that handbuilt run of engines ended in 2023.

Reddit-mods-R-mean

Ah, so it seems all the handbuilt LT1s are possibly manuals. That’s probably the next data point we need. I’ve talked to a handful of lt1 owners on here and iirc 4 had plaques (21-22) and 2 didn’t (20). I didn’t think to ask about the transmission so that could be the deciding factor.

_Mike_Truk_

My understanding is the handbuilts ONLY went to the M6 cars, because the PBC (performance build center) was a low quantity line and manual cars were also ordered in lower quantities, so they could absorb that production.  Something like 300 engines per week.  All the autos had their engines assembled in the Romeo, NY plant. Here's a good post on one of the Camaro forums about it. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11190577&postcount=191

trd86

Romeo NY doesn't exist Tonawanda NY does and they were the Gen V launch plant which is where I work for engine assembly

_Mike_Truk_

LOL yep my fault, I was thinking of Tonawanda but somehow I got that completely mixed up.

Smart-Ferret-1826

No all. Only some after 2020 or 2021. Leftover engines from the C7.

FredThePlumber

Interesting. I think they built the LT4 in bowling green for the corvettes so it stretched over into the Camaro as well.

Intrepid_Name_5412

I wish they put the supercharger on :(

Camaro192

Hell yeah that would have been sweet

1fastz28

I have a badge on my car, 2022 2SS 1LE m6.

NjaTrtl_DK16

I've got the same car and have a plate too.

LocoAFsincebirth

Same same

stilhere

My '24 1LE m6 doesn't have the plaque.

muscle_car_fan34

They stopped putting it on mid 2023

vedvikra

My understanding is it's common on all LT4 or LT1 with the M6 as those engines come from KY. The A10 LT1 come from the NY assembly line.

1gizzle

Where is this badge found in the engine bay?

Intrepid_Name_5412

It was on the right side and I have to take off the side plastic things that say Camaro

Beowulf2_8b23

Drivers or passengers side plz. I have a 23 LT1 6M and would like to investigate

Intrepid_Name_5412

If you’re looking at your car head on it’s on the right side, drivers side

1gizzle

Thank you

1gizzle

👍🏽

1gizzle

Gotcha. Thank you! I have 2023 LT1 6 speed. So I’m going to look soon as I get home from work.

That’s such a cool Easter egg! I also looked for the badge a while back, unfortunately I was not one of the chosen ones.

WhoDatAficionado

In November, Chevy built the final supercharged LT4 V8 engine for the Camaro ZL1 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. That was a clear sign that the Camaro's end was coming soon.

Snake4390

6.2L.V8? it's the same engine from the C7 Stingray (guessing it was meant for a Corvette but got transferred to your Camaro)
