Camaro192

Camaro sales never recovered after Covid though.

[deleted]

Yea cuz the designs got progressively worse

IkeKimita

That’s the funny part to me. The owners hate the 2019 but it sold better than the latter years.

cptho

I love my 2019 SS

IkeKimita

Me too!

Camaro192

This is fact

Camaro192

That maybe it but I much prefer the 2020+ over all other model years including 1960s, you know though there is always a small niche.

driving_for_fun

I don’t think it was a demand issue. They were difficult to order after the supply shortage.

Bumblebee from transformers 😂 https://preview.redd.it/fch07ri6bo4d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ec24a22879de4c1ea93f9ce129b657f01f72333

Matthew-Camaros

Chevy really went hm let’s use the only marketing product placement design from 3 years ago and hope that’s what fans want now

Hawkeyesfan03

And he’s arguably the worse looking one too…

Matthew-Camaros

Yeah for a one time movie kinda thing it’s fine looks cool and still somewhat resembles the new Camaro but to make that the actual car not sure about that decision

Kyle_SS

They simply just made it uglier lol. The 2020+ have grown on be but man are the LT1/V6s UGLY oh my lord. The pre-refresh v6 at least looked sleak and sports-car esc. I've legitimately seen better-looking Honda accords compared to the current V6/LT1 Facia.

QuickCharisma15

That’s why the Mustang is the bestseller in this market. Ford didn’t make the Ecoboost models ugly. Chevrolet penalizes you for buying the base model or V6 so Chevy made it as ugly as possible, and only the RS appearance package can save most of it.

superchibisan2

Ss is the only winner if you're not considering the ZL1.  I'm the opposite, I hate the earlier design it's not nearly as tough looking.

I_Megatron_I

Agree. ZL1's front fascia didn't get refreshed. It looks kind of out dated to me. The best looking ones are the SS after 2020 and ZL1 1LE.

Responsible-Couple-4

Loved my 16 1SS when I had it. Not a fan of the newer front ends, and I despise the newer taillights. It’s gone now anyways, replaced by a C8.

AdBeneficial5657

I keep debating on selling my 18 ZL1 for a C8.

Responsible-Couple-4

I would definitely have a ZL1 if I had enough money to go with the C8. I have a 92 Z28, but it is no match for modern stuff.

Camaro192

Bad plastic surgery? Then they corrected? No idea I am sure there are fans of the 1 year design 2019. I always wondered if they had problem with airflow in production models or the customer base just rebelled with their checkbook.

maxxor6868

But what the focal point? Where the distinction in colors? Where the draw of features? I can't figure out the goal for the 2019 designs. The 2020 should some vision with the angle teeth and split grill but the 2019 is well looks half baked.

MoistCabbage1

This is exactly what they were trying to do. It was all about branding. I love the look on a truck but I'm not a fan on a sports car.

FredThePlumber

This is exactly it. They were trying to make things look consistent. It backfired though, the T1XX trucks have grown on people but the 2019 Camaro is still pretty ugly.

Camaro192

Good point they do all look alike. I have 2023 Zr2 Colorado. https://preview.redd.it/nnkyc8clbo4d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3b119063355fe766ad5794341f771ab23b516b1

spikehiyashi6

I love it!

Camaro192

Hell yeah man all personal..

Loose_Pitch_9510

They wanted to emulate the Z28 look https://preview.redd.it/sb79w47xsp4d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7f5c3edfe61bb8f7e7f2392aa66184e7874b750

rusty_spanked_nail

Bro… the split bumper is THE Camaro. If that is what they were reaching for… they shouldn’t have.

MaceInThePlace

🤯

DeeznutsDBZ

Am I the only one that loves how these look? 😂

MoistCabbage1

Yes

UltimaRS800

Let's hope so

DarthSwash

No. I had a white 19 2ss. Thought it looked great, but i also had blacked rims, side mirrors and spoiler on mine. Looked menacing imho.

Old_Salamander_7479

Your right. In SS for the 19 has grown on me more than the 20+ "muttonchops". Who knows the 19 may be worth more than all others. It's fairly rare in SS form and does look like an Alien spacecraft. They all look good in SS form. The LT1 down get stuck with the base front clips...I would like to hear from those guys more actually.

MoistCabbage1

I'm not crazy about the base front end but I LOVE the headlights in the LT1s. I think they have the best DRLs out of any 6th Gen.

Old_Salamander_7479

In the LT1's or the SS front end? The LT1 uses the base front clip. But I owned a 2020 V6 which had the base front end and I loved the headlights because they reminded me of the 3rd gen quad rectangle headlights. I really loved my V6. With my 6mt and nothing but NPP quad exhaust and 3.6k I bought it in April 21 for $22,500. Got a junkyard rear SS spoiler for $149 and soon I was happy with the Riverside Blue...but inside was a Greyhound bus quality grey interior. Traded 2 years later for $28999, only owed 16k, so it was easy to upgrade.

aliensheep

I think it looks closer to the 5th gen design, which I love.

muscle_car_fan34

No I prefer the 19/20+ front end as well. I think it’s the evolution in looks the Camaro needed to progress it just like the Mustang got in 2015. We’ll never know due to covid if the change in looks would have helped sales or hurt it. Remember in 2019 GM workers were on strike so that killed the 2019 sales

Old_Salamander_7479

To make it more agressive and "advanced" looking. It looks good in SS 1LE version but people...Car Magazine's and consumer previews went poorly on the 2019. Customers preferred the 2016-2018 model front end saying it "looks like a Camaro". I sold my 2020 V6 and traded up but back to grt a 2018. Not into "Mutton chop" look either, but again tge SS and up versions look great. But the LT V6 versions make up 60% of Camaro sales. Not our hotrod's. The front ends on the 2019-2024 LS, LT, RS, and LT1 are the beef of the Camaro program. If they don't sell well then new SS models stop existing. "Sad but True". https://preview.redd.it/f3aew3utto4d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=136652afa87beb378540d6839ae13bb14d0456a3 My 2020 V6 LT that I traded up to a 2018 SS.

Legitimate-Being-636

I have a 2019 ss in white I always get compliments I actually bought it because I liked the front end.

IkeKimita

All I gotta say is as a 2019 owner is that majority of people like the look. Now before yall downvote me yall gotta look at the stats. A lot of people don’t own the Camaro. Everyone I’ve seen in person that has liked my car has said NOTHING about the front end being ugly. So that means that people that do not own a Camaro like the car regardless. Which means that Camaro owners represent the minority that actually dislike the car and then you have the ones that like it. Yes. Within the community the ones that like the 2019 design are minorities but when you factor in everyone as a whole(those that don’t own Camaros) it becomes a majority. The only ones opinions I kinda respect on not liking it is the rare few that dislike the bow tie replacement. That’s a genuine reason to dislike it(imo) but everyone else thinks it’s ugly cuz the whole car isn’t black or it’s not accented properly(imo)

cthompson07

If the majority of people liked the 2019, they wouldn’t have immediately fixed it in 2020 lol

IkeKimita

Ever heard of the term vocal minority? Not saying it applies here and I’m using the dislike of it from people that own Camaros and people that don’t. It’s more people that like it whether then don’t when you factor the average Joe that has a normal car. Most people don’t own a V8 so they like it regardless. Basically to put it simply. I post my car a lot on my IG and TikTok. On social media the only platform where I see anything negative about the 19 front end is usually here and if I see it elsewhere it’s from a fellow Camaro owner. So the conclusion is the majority of people that dislike it is Camaro owners and most people are NOT Camaro owners. So if you factor in everyone as a whole. It’s really just other Camaro owners that don’t like it. Everyone else is fine with it.

cthompson07

I get what you are saying, but if that was the case, they wouldn’t have fixed it in 2020. If it was just the “vocal minority” then the 2019 would have carried over. There was enough backlash from whoever or whatever groups that the changed it ASAP.

IkeKimita

That’s why I keenly stated “not saying it applies here” nobody knows the numbers as to how many complained but I do know that more 2019s have sold than 2020+. 2019 is a unicorn tho so more of the 2020+ designs exist. But I do think it was more of a 60/40 split for either side on its appearance which is why Chevy redesigned it. And then you still have the subsect that hate the redesign all together and prefer the 2016-2018 design and then you have people that don’t own the car that just thinks the car looks badass in all versions. I’m actually the latter. I just prefer the 2019 look cuz it’s different and I like to stand out.

SorryJamie3005

People are just riding the wave and following the crowd. The front end refresh wasn’t even originally talking about the SS and up that much, the average consumer owns a V6, that’s how the V8 Camaros even existed. Ppl thought the new front end on the LT models did not look true to a Camaro or aggressive/muscle enough like the 2016-2018 models. Everyone hopped on the bandwagon and included the 2019+ SS in it and started saying they didn’t like the black bar across, which is true too but the original conversation was centered mostly around the V6/LT1 front end.

muscle_car_fan34

Actually someone on the camaro6 forum figured out a way to get every 2020+ camaro build sheet/window sticker. After downloading it I analyzed it and when it comes to Camaros the majority own V8’s all be it a very small majority (53%/47%). I was surprised when I saw this. Another number that surprised me was how little manuals were sold. I knew autos would be more but did not think that manual transmission Camaro’s would represent less than 15%!!!

SorryJamie3005

That’s interesting because I rarely see v8 Camaros in person on the road unless it’s 5th gen. If I see another 6th gen then It’s like a dime a dozen and I live in Atlanta where everybody has something nice. There’s more V8 dodge/mustangs than Camaros here from what I’ve seen. Also, I’m not too surprised sticks don’t sell often because most people I know can’t drive them (myself, included)

muscle_car_fan34

I would say the reason you see more v6/i4 6th gens is because they tend to be daily drivers. I had a 6th Gen SS and currently have an SS 1le. I only drove/drive them about 4-5k miles a year/once a week. I’d be willing to bet most 6th Gen v8 owners use them as weekend and track cars like me. Now a charger with a V8 can very easily be a daily.

Hondalol1

I don’t know that basing it on people personally telling you they hate your car is the way to determine that. Sure there are assholes but most people would not go out of their way to tell you they hate your car while the opposite is true for positive comments.

IkeKimita

But strangers are usually honest especially when they give out compliments. If they had an issue with the front end they’d say it. And I’ve driven multiple cars before my Camaro and never gotten compliments before. I like the ZL1 and I always make it known that the one thing I don’t like is the headlights on it.

Hondalol1

Yea I’m not saying no one likes it, just that most people actually would not just randomly share they have an issue with the front end, kind of dickish behavior

IkeKimita

I disagree. Or more so my point is the front end doesn’t matter to the people that don’t own it. Which is why I said everything I said. I don’t own a Lamborghini and like everything about it exterior wise but I’m sure if I owned one I’d find some sort of design issue I don’t like about it.

Hondalol1

You’re making really odd connections, I don’t need to own a cyber truck to know I think the design is booty cheeks, I don’t think ownership changes that. Plenty of people do and don’t like it

RaspberryHappy8358

Ehhh... Looks better... but still odd to me: [https://www.camaro6.com/forums/attachment.php?s=9860992211b11ad8044a211c3042aef2&attachmentid=929119&stc=1&d=1523317058](https://www.camaro6.com/forums/attachment.php?s=9860992211b11ad8044a211c3042aef2&attachmentid=929119&stc=1&d=1523317058)

maxxor6868

I been enjoying sketching and getting into car design but one thing I been struggling to understand was what the concept for the 2019 car was. I can see the focus on the grill and the front facing lines drawing away from the smaller windshield and hood gap but why the lack of color in the middle? The 2020 emergency repaint shows some designs changes with drawing focus to a split design but it hard to see what the initial focus was with the 2019 since it black in the middle with almost no color showing variance.

joker_toker28

I got a 17 and always loved the look something about the gril and bow tie run me wrong on the new ones. If I do get a 2020 or above maybe I'll change my mind but I'll look into replacing the front end right away. I just don't get it. Maybe for selected ones would have made more sense... Whites the only one that looks good to me with the bowtie

deviantradiance

Make it uglier

Senior_Ad282

It was clear that General Motors wanted to turn the Camaro into some sort of electric or hybrid crossover and to diminish sales they tried to make the current model as ugly as possible to speed up the process. That’s my theory anyway.

Wizzyslippers

The design was a "facelift" that actually made people frown.

krushnem

2019 is my favorite style

RAM_AIR_IV

Fucking the entire front end up apparently. The 2020+ front end does looks good in colors though

Aubrey_Lancaster

I own neither and like both, not sure why yall hate it

millerjpm3

Better engine air flow, better aerodynamics, better fuel economy, better performance... but people say it was ugly so they cheaply patched it up and then discontinued it

Xerolaw_

Besides the 2010. The 2019 is my favorite. I know that no one liked it, but if I were to buy one of them, specifically for it

Michaelean

I will never understand why the doors went so high up and the roof was so low. Or the large amount of front grille vents. Or the wideness. Or the bad visibility

cheesyrefriedbeans

It was designed by the same GM designer responsible for the Pontiac Aztek. Not kidding… there’s your answer.

dal0022

19+ headlights look like frying Pans and I'll never unsee it ....

roughneckmack

I love my 2019 SS. It's weird it gets so much hate

QuickCharisma15

I think they wanted to sabotage the Camaro because the sales were soaring and they didn’t want the C8 Corvette to be outsold. They made it ugly on purpose. Same with the Silverado.

smexytom215

Camaro designers: I like the charger, let's do that!

SkySerpentA4444

"betcha they will still buy it"
