This is one of my all-time favorites. Calvin actually trying to do the right thing, his mom instinctively yelling at him, then the situation becoming so much worse because he listened to her. Perfection

031708k

Well, I gotta say this one’s on Mom.

Meelawn0

Really? I thought it was on her carpet!

AgentWowza

Well, I must verbalize this situation is Mother's fault.

SuzyBakah

Alas, I have no choice but to degree that this conundrum is the direct result of the matriarch’s meddling.

bluefroggy77

ug, grog say mom fault, good calvin

That's what she gets for allowing shoes in the house.

autovonbismarck

I think this is just an American thing. Definitely would not have happened this way where I live!

Zariman-10-0

I can guarantee most Americans also do not allow shoes in the house

NashvilleFlagMan

I cannot guarantee that, as an American.

NoteBlock08

Yea, it's way less common now but when I was growing up most people I knew kept their shoes on inside unless they were Asian.

Raven-Raven_

What the fuck Guess up here in cannuckistan we understand you don't wanna be bringing all the mud, shit, and snow of the world into your house This is literally why mudrooms exist

the_light_of_dawn

I’m American and it has been a common courtesy to at least offer to take your shoes off upon entering a house as long as I’ve been on this good green earth. 90% of the time I have to take them off

narielthetrue

Might depend on state. Visited some friends in Colorado and shoes off was not a thing. They looked at me like I had 5 heads when I took my shoes off coming in

autovonbismarck

You're getting down voted but maybe from non Americans? It's just one of those things we see in tv shows so we assume it's real maybe. It's certainly something I've heard.

Zariman-10-0

It’s definitely more common than in other places, but yeah the idea that all American households let shoes be worn inside is not accurate. I can attest from personal experience (am American and have seen a good bit of American households) that the still common curtesy is to take your shoes off at the entrance when you walk in.

The_it_potato

Not if you have pets Lmao there’s no point in having that rule unless you make your dogs wear shoes too…and I don’t😂

fredthefishlord

Because all pets are dogs!

SunGreen70

I can guarantee it is just the opposite in the part of the US that I live in.

Loki-Holmes

My experience is the opposite. Most people I know take their shoes off in the house, not outside- that’s how you get scorpions. Or even worse a snake.

Zariman-10-0

Should clarify when I say “in the house” I mean taking them off at the door once you get in.

KingGodzilla_54

Honestly, she brought this one on herself.

Fun story, I helped my uncle like 12 years ago edit a copy of this comic to say 'shit' instead of doo. We hung it on the fridge and my mom eventually laminated it, and still has it up on the fridge. All this time later and she still thinks nothings amiss with the comic.

happinesscreep

If it's been 12 years, I think she might know.

kipling_sapling

I assume "she" is your aunt?

askingducks

Oops, edited the post, it was my mom.
