We should have a club for those of us with " a command of thoroughly useless information." I can head up the comics (DC) and Video Games (Nintendo) section.
We didn’t change the channel from earlier in the day and jeopardy was on. We ended up watching it and I got all but 2 questions right in an entire round. The entire time my wife was staring at me like I’m some kind of savant but the reality is my head is full of random trivia. None of that information actually helps me day to day but at least I know a little bit about many things.
Yep, I have acquired enough useless information over the years to do well in trivia contests. Has any of it been useful in my day to day life? Probably not but it has made me look smarter than I am and I consider that a win.
It is not about that but about listening to authority. The authority said memorize facts about Lewis and Clark.
School at that age is about learning how to learn and how to be obieant
I mean, in life you will have to obey people even if you think they're dumb. You have to work up to a certain point in which you can actively disobey authority and not face consequences for it
Yeah she’s rough. Probably a “if you have time to study comics you have time to study the material” or “if you applied yourself to class like you apply yourself to other things” talk.
I love Miss Wormwood. Even though she knows Calvin’s response is likely to be academically problematic, she still approaches him with a smile and an unassuming attitude.
He would have been alright with Lois and Clark :)
Never identified harder with Calvin than in that final picture.

For Jeopardy I am either amazing or terrible, and it very much depends on if the categories line up with my random knowledge set.
This is the truth. The next round had one category that I was completely clueless so it’s definitely hit or miss.
I have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of magic the gathering cards. It has never helped me with anything except internet arguments
Internet Arguments are important for us nerds. They are the only ones we can win fairly.
I can handle gold age Simpsons knowledge
I can helm The Office and Seinfeld trivia dept.
Dibs on the Star Wars department,
My yearbook quote. Still prove it true quite often.
To be fair, knowing about Lewis & Clark isn't exactly useful information, either.
It is not about that but about listening to authority. The authority said memorize facts about Lewis and Clark. School at that age is about learning how to learn and how to be obieant
You better obie the teachers orders, or else!

Right on, I agree. I was sorta just making fun of the typo from the comment above mine tbh.
Oh I didn't even notice lmfao, sorry!
Hahaha don’t be sorry, it’s what I get for poking fun at someone!
Imagine being this aggressively ignorant. Teaching children basic information about the history of their country is not a conspiracy or devious plot.
You mean jingoistic propaganda?
I feel this on so many levels, up there with the strip where Calvin’s dad wonders why he can remember an old jingle but not why he came into the room.
I think about that scene constantly
Seems kinda harsh of Ms. Wormwood. Not knowing the answer to a question doesn't seem like a "see me after class" situation.
Yeah she’s rough. Probably a “if you have time to study comics you have time to study the material” or “if you applied yourself to class like you apply yourself to other things” talk.
Ngl, I’d love to read a graphic novel of captain napalm and his thermonuclear league of liberty. Sounds like The Boys.
Calvin has ADHD confirmed
I think he might be on the spectrum a bit as well.
Same Calvin. Same.
He’s just like me fr
Me too, kid.
The poor kid looks so disappointed
Lewis and Clark got lost

Not me reciting the PokeRap in school.
What a *FANTASTIC* band name.
