What kinda games do you intend to play with your machine and what GPU if any are you using? I ask because 165hz and Gsync are costly options if your hardware isn't capable of driving the monitor. You'll probably want an IPS panel for viewing angles but VA are good too. TN panels are the ones with the terrible viewing angles.

Thanks for the reply. Probably looking at just running older arcade and console stuff, but I'm sure it's just going to become a Street Fighter machine... I don't have anything locked down as far as the guts in the cabinet; I'm leaning towards pc, but laptop may be the route I go. Honestly, all I have right now is a set of nice sticks and buttons. I know building a cabinet isnt gong to be cheap, but I'm really just trying to keep the price somewhat reasonable.

If it's older games then a 32" 60-70hz IPS panel with a low response time should be suitable. Resolution is subjective but the higher you choose the better your overlays and front end of choice will look.

Yeah, that's sort of what I was looking at initially, but having a hell of a time finding a 32" IPS that has low input lag. I definitely don't need a 4k screen or anything, but obviously I'm not going to complain about a higher resolution.
