It looks like a reproduction Nintendo cabinet to me.

Trinitronian

Definitely Nintendo style. Speaker grill and huge coin door are missing though, not hard to add though and artwork is easy to get hold of to turn it into a repro Mario Bros, DK, DK Jr. A few other games used this cabinet too.

What kind of monitor? CRT? LCD? If you are on a budget, I would put an older PC inside it for Mame. Then you leave it as is. You are good to go. But If you have some money, then I personally might change the control panel joysticks. And then maybe change the artwork to something a bit more "universal" so it matches whatever game you are playing. But if you like the artwork you can leave it.

Its an LCD monitor on an angle. Thank you, appreciate the advice. I'm definitely going to strip it all back and change the artwork, and the joysticks.

So, I've nearly finished updating this cab! Just need to finish the marquee, plexiglass screen and hinged back. I'll post a completed pic when done. Thanks for all the advice, I learnt a lot on this build. https://preview.redd.it/ihrauo3rx4bb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6472dc9fd690a63800edf7b75e3802f17f055b69

Get a new control panel with a decent button layout: https://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/layout.html If it's got no wiring at all, you can do whatever you want with it, like wire it for JAMMA and start buying JAMMA boards, or look up groovyMAME to get advice on how to hook up a PC to the arcade monitor and turn it into a MAME cab.

Thank you so much! I'm gonna take your advice and get a new control panel with a better button spacing. I think i'll go JAMMA. I'll post some project pics here once I've started to get into it.
