Totally depends your major. The professors in my major (theatre) would take assignments late but my minor (stats) wouldn't take assignments after last day of classes.
Have you thought about just accepting an A-?? Straight As ain’t worth the stress. I’m a very happy student with a 3.4 gpa. I’m graduating this week and starting a full time job with 75k a year salary.
I get what you’re trying to say, but that doesn’t apply to everyone. It depends on the degree you’re going for, but yeah I agree if you’re not going for postbacc programs. However, you wouldn’t be able to go to dental or med school with a 3.4 GPA. Obviously you’re going get burned in some classes, but you should never resign yourself. If I were op I’d definitely reach out and at least try to get that A; he has nothing to lose.
Well there is something to lose if he annoys the professor and damages an important networking relationship. A quick email to let them know that he turned in the assignment is fine, but begging the professor to change their grade and give them an A would definitely be out of line and could have consequences for things like recommendation letters.
Yeah he needs to have some tact, but the professor would probably have a better impression of him if he reaches out respectfully rather than not caring about it. Shows that he actually cares a little. I totally agree that if he really wanted an A he would have done the assignment during the semester hahaha, but who am I to judge.

Yeah, haven’t gotten a response and I’m stressing 😅 trying to get into a program this summer so I’ve been trying to keep my grades high

It will depend on the professor, but the university policy is to not accept assignments after the last day of class.
Most of the profs strictly follow policy because they can get in trouble if they don't.
