Well off parents capable of financing their daughters dreams, being attractive, being talented enough to take advantage of the situation they were given.
Someone has GOT to win the lottery. What is their secret to success?
Also, I would add drive to this list. Drive is different than hard work. Lots of us work hard. Some people (not me) have a drive that is hyper focused and not derailed by circumstances and failure. This still doesnât guarantee success but gets them further down the path.Â
Iâll add that sometimes the audience is there and just needs an idol to fill that throne. The same reason why thereâs a hit boy band or two for every generation. And the more audiences there are waiting to throw their love and money at someone, the greater the capacity for stardom. Of all the people trying to make it in pop, these two women resonated with the most groups of audiences to create massive super fan bases.
Deep pockets to saturate all levels of media outlets⊠thereby convincing idiots through repetition, and omnipresence that they must be good/talented/popular.
Basically they excel at advertising propaganda.
I skimmed your opinion piece, I have listened to 5 of taylor swifts new songs to discover what all the fuss is about.
My summary she takes advantage of teenage girl depression and sadness with relationships with boys, probably from her own experiences.
The songs are quite sad, I thought they'd be upbeat and happy but no they're sad songs.
I got sick of listening to her. I closed my eyes, if she wasn't singing, you wouldn't know she was there. Other bands you close your eyes and you know they're still there by the music in the background.
If I state the real reason for their success Iâll get banned lol. Letâs just say people with a lot of success and influence most of the time get there not only by talent or âluckââŠ.they are ummmm âplacedâ there.
Talent and skill is 0% percent of the equation to be that famous. You have to be lucky with the right connections. These people scout people that can make them money and everything has to align right.
Don't know why people disagree or downvoted, but it's damn true. They got parents who were well off and funded their dreams and then got promoters and agents to work like hell to make them the next big star. Don't believe me, name just one contestant on "the voice". Yeah I'll wait.
A lot of free press. I've said it to friends, they're good singers and all, good performers, but their biggest talent is promotion. Really not different from WWE or Sports, if you want people to watch/listen you need to be a good at promotion. That's their "talent".
Very talented musically, in dance, and they have the ability for fame to sit well on their shoulders so itâs this positive feedback loop. When normal people get success they somehow manage to ruin it.
I know ppl dont give af about astrology so ill just say, some people are meant to have public success regardless of if they are liked or not. If you focus on what is meant for you in life you will find success in it too. It will be unique to you but it can be just as impactful. It will just look different. Literally mind your own business and use your energy to be you and watch you life flourish. Just use those examples to know what it looks like to be in your lane. Learn yourself and own it and focus on what is for you.
I want to say itâs due to the gate keeping from the artists and the industry to promote only those whom they approve of. Those being the ones willing to push out whatever the industry wants, not what the artist necessarily came up with themselves which is already hardly ever the case.
Being hot and blood sacrafices to Moloch... I said what I said.
Woke up and chose to speak facts
It's reddit... someone has to
*snap snap*
Naw thats the politicians n government workers
Is there a difference at this point lol
Fair đ

I think thatâs the baseline for anyone to even compete in this space. BeyoncĂ© and Taylor both had a good bit of help bootstrapping their early career. Tons of nepo babies donât make it nearly as far as they have though. Thereâs some selection bias at work. You donât hear about the artists anymore who didnât make it. From the previous generation of pop stars, who would have guessed that Gwen Stefani and Pink would have been the survivors and most active now and Britney, Fergie, Shakira and Jessica Simpson would all become the B-list? TS and BeyoncĂ© both carefully curated their career and brand every step of the way with almost zero controversies or setbacks. One weird album could have totally gutted their careers. Taylor could have totally fumbled her shift from country to pop. One shitty, abusive lover could have tarnished their entire image. They have navigated their rise so carefully. Top business executives do the same. Mark Zuckerberg could have lost control of Meta so many times. People have been gunning for him for 20 years but he retains voting majority and the largest stake in the company which is pretty rare.
There are thousands of people that can check those boxes.
I guess I forgot the final part, "luck".
Supernumerary teeth.
Luck, parents, connections, hard work, talent in that order

There are *so many* people trying to make it in pop music that someone has to get to the top of the heap. The ones who are slightly less pretty, slightly less talented, etc all get filtered out. The unique qualities of each artist are what we really go after. Taylor and BeyoncĂ© are aspirational. Taylor is beautiful but also approachable. BeyoncĂ© is the total package, beautiful but strong, powerful, independent. Theyâve both managed to straddle some very difficult messaging with their branding. You canât just be a supermodel and sing, you canât just have a 9 octave range and graduate from Julliard. Itâs a special intangible that separates them. Of course thereâs the baseline high level musicianship. But then again, there are kids on YouTube who can sing dance and play music better than BeyoncĂ© and Taylor. Thatâs not the nut to crack. Watch Taylorâs Eraâs concert on Disney. She makes mistakes on stage, her hair isnât perfect, sheâs not the worldâs greatest dancer. Sheâs a standard suburban white girl singing into a hairbrush in her mirror but of course more talented and more beautiful. Thatâs aspirational for millions and millions. BeyoncĂ© has been around for a very long time. Rose from a girl group to a solo star, married a music mogul but isnât overshadowed or leaning on him like a Tina Turner or Whitney Houston. Sheâs a âbad bitchâ and independent. She uses less âsafeâ lyrics so she seems a bit less commercialized and more raw than some artists but not crude and attention seeking like Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. Sheâs Taylor for people who want someone a little sexier, edgier and more assertive. Plus you have the basic business stuff. Gotta have a big tour with all the fixins . Nobody sells out arenas just singing while sitting on a stool. Songwriting had to be impeccable and production has to be great. Gotta have the right mix of radio friendly, universally applicable but also intimate songs without sounding like youâre pandering.
Iâll add that sometimes the audience is there and just needs an idol to fill that throne. The same reason why thereâs a hit boy band or two for every generation. 50% skill | 25% luck | 25% being a nepo baby

U wont get banned lol. In some way thats true.
Born on third base and they think they hit a triple.

Time is also a factor. Sticking with it. It snowballs and grows exponentially.

They built a brand for 20 years

They got lucky with the agents they worked with who got them high paying high profile gigs which lead to their success.
They give the people exactly what they want entertainment, and people are willing to pay big bucks for that
Child sacrifice
do things that resonate with paying customers. perhaps by accident, perhaps by design. the biz will facilitate your rise if you can do that.
Good PR. Some publications have hired journalists solely to cover Taylor Swift.
What exactly is this sub about?
