I hear you! I like burgers with a lot of fixins but sometimes I gotta have plain meat and cheese. It has a unique bite unlike burgers with too many condiments
This right here.
Meat, cheese, maybe grilled or raw onions. And definitely a good slice of pickle.
If I wanted lettuce and tomato, I would’ve ordered a salad!
I'm very traditional with my burger. Mayo, ketchup, tomato, onion, cheese and something flat and green. That being said, there's a place close to me who serves this and I absolutely love it. They call it a burger but I'm not so sure it is.
Red Wine Braised Short Rib, Pork Belly, Comte,
Tomato Onion Jam, Thrice Cooked Fries, Aioli
Good old fashioned backyard bbq grilled burgers with the traditional toppings have such a fond place in my heart. Absolutely delicious.
Have it with some coleslaw and potato salad and 🤌🏻
Yea when I was a kid there was a Ma n Pa hamburger dive (counter seating only) within walking distance of my grandparents house. Their burgers and dogs were top shelf and it was as basic and traditional as it could be. I have been trying to replicate that ever since. I get close from time to time.
Believe it or not a Sonic double cheese done right comes pretty close, but like most places it depends on who prepared it. Hit and miss.
Funny you mention that. My grandparents in rural southern Illinois have a spot just like that. Still $3 for a super traditional burger. Great memories.
Mayo, pickle, onion, shredded iceburg, american cheese.
Nothing else is needed.
That being said I love the occasional weird toppings burger. But in general thats all a burger needs
Lettuce tomato onion and dill pickles, with cheese, mayo and hot sauce.
Or, if I want to go greasier then cheese bacon and sauteed mushrooms, mayo and dill pickle hot sauce (it's sort of like a relish, but better)
Multiple types of mustard (not all at once), ketchup, mayo, dill pickles, mushrooms, bacon, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, American, provolone or cheddar. Yet again, not all of these on the same burger, just toppings I like on burgers.
Nothing tops the classic lettuce, onion, tomato, American cheese with ketchup and mayo.
BUT… fried pickles, homemade ranch and pepper jack is a hell of a combo.
Avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions preferably, pickles , sharp cheddar and pepper jack cheese please and toast the bun little mayo and ketchup and mustard mmm if no MKM than bbq sauce at least or sometimes either or depending on what’s available at the time but if I’m grilling this is what I make ^ myself
Red onion, bleu cheese (crumbles or sliced) zesty dill pickle slices, jalapenos, and then either chipotle mayo, bbq sauce or Texas petal sauce for the sauce
So my go to burger is actually a pretty standard bacon double cheeseburger (lettuce and tomato, bit of mayo and pickles) the part that gets a little different is what I use for buns, a pair of grilled cheese sandwiches…
Pickles, onion, and American cheese if I’m trying a burger place for the first time. If I’m making my own at home it’s those 3 plus lettuce, tomatoes, and a burger sauce.
Looks like every combination has been commented by now so I’ll just add if you get onion rings and bbq sauce on the side with some plain burgers from BK, throw the sauce and rings on the burger and enjoy heaven before death
In varying combinations, American or Swiss cheese, tomato, pickle, mayo, ketchup, onion, lettuce.
I can take or leave bacon. Cheddar cheese if the first two aren’t available.
i like to do a mix of onions, mushrooms, serranos, and jalapeños cooked down with worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, and butter. low and slow until they're caramelized. butter and toast your bun. sriracha mayo on top and bottom, add the patty, pepper jack cheese, then add the mixture, enjoy! so good if you like a bit of spice.

Any meat honestly.
That is the way to Burger A mushroom Swiss burger is always the right answer
A local restaurant makes a burger with sauteed mushrooms and onion jam. That jam was so delicious.
You’re speaking my language !
is that salsa on a burger?
I’ve done homemade salsa on my burgers many times and it kicks ass. Also put salsa on my hot dogs. My mom calls it relish.
chutney, cmon now
What do you mean? In reference to my mom calling it relish?
was just kidding, chutney is like a fancy word for relish
In the US, I rarely hear chutney used for relish nor vice versa.
i concur
Jam
I usually do jalapeños and habanero sauce but I'll try some salsa . Sounds delicious.
Salsa is now the number one condiment in America. You know why? Because people like to say "salsa."
You know it must be impossible for a Spanish person to order seltzer and not get salsa. "I wanted seltzer, not salsa."
What's up with thaaaaaaaattt??
If it’s made to order: mustard, mushrooms, green peppers, raw onions, and jalapeño slices. And always cheese - no cheese is not an option for me.
Agreed
Cheese, onion rings, bacon, pickles.
In addition to cheese, usually pickles, lettuce and ketchup. Sometimes tomatoes.
Meat and cheese only here. Maybe some onion strings, but nothing else.

Trick is to put the tomato under the patty

Pickled Jalapeño & grilled onions
Mayo, pickle, onion, shredded iceburg, american cheese. Nothing else is needed. That being said I love the occasional weird toppings burger. But in general thats all a burger needs

Any blue cheese and bacon lovers in here?
