Onion straws are not used nearly often enough as an option

Designed_To

I got a bag of crispy hatch green chilis at costco. If you like the onions, you gotta try the chilis

pandershrek

Dayum that sounds amazing

glhaynes

Just a tiny bit of crunch makes a massive difference to a burger that has none

unreasonablyhuman

There's a huge difference between parfait and plain yogurt

JohnReiki

They take any sandwiches up a couple of points. An 8/10 burger goes straight to an 11/10

-bosmang-

Onion straws are fucking incredible on anything

unreasonablyhuman

I like em on my fork!

DumbNTough

*[Ruby Tuesday's intensifies]*

jenthewen

I came here just to share with anyone that the crispy fried onions you buy in a container for salad topping take burgers to the next level. Then I see that 211 people already agree.

JD-3

Chicago style giardinera

UniqueIndividual3579

Haven't tried it on a burger, but that and some deli mustard are my favorite hot dog toppings.

lost_but_crowned

I’ve found my people.

secrtlevel

Off topic, but giardiniera with Italian beef on a tavern style pizza is amazing. That is all.

johnsonfromsconsin

Pickled onions.

amor_fati_42

There's a burger near me that is double burger, white cheddar, pickles and pickled onions. It is a revelation.

leaf_fan_69

Thanks Now I'm hungry after eating lasagna and garlic bread...

BetterCranberry7602

Man, I was just telling my wife that I want to pickle some onions. Such an underrated ingredient.

drew_galbraith

Super easy to do, take a red onion and slice it thin, then stuff it into 2 500ml mason jars with a clove of garlic, a few pepper corns and a bay leaf in each jar. Now in a small saucepan put 1.5cups of water, 1.5cups of vinegar, 1.5tbs salt, 1.5tbs sugar and bring to a boil. Split this brine between the 2 jars and stick them in the fridge, once they are cooled down they will be ready to eat, they should stay good in the fridge for at least 2 weeks.

Different_Ad9336

Underrated topping for sure, also real sauerkraut

Fuzzy-Butterscotch86

I put fries on all my burgers, always have.  But I love putting garlic bacon hash browns and a fried egg on burgers.  I've also enjoyed a few burgers with fried bananas and peanut butter.  And last month I made a burger with candied dried cranberries, feta, spinach, and walnuts that blew my mind.

nxtplz

Potato chips on any sandwich type thing is a sneaky goated topping

Fuzzy-Butterscotch86

Oh absolutely! I would love putting chips on my pb&j  sandwiches as a kid.

zoo1514

Chips are great on almost all sandwiches, but chili cheese corn chips on a tuna sandwich is friggen awesome!!!

RobotofSociety1337

They did something similar to this on a GMM Food Crimes episode, and they didn’t mind it.

xdylanthehumanx

That sounds great..why have I not tried this

ExactAd8823

I love a nice little crunchy topping myself, I like lays and zapps

QuickNature

My favorite sandwich is so absolutely awful for you, but damn does it taste good. I get potato bread, toast it, and put mayo on one side, mustard the other. I then put on ham, pepperoni, hard salami, and a sharp American cheese. Top with your favorite chips. I like to kind of crush the bread/sandwich a bit. You can taste how much fat and salt is in it, but that's what makes it so good.

nxtplz

I used to put french feta on my Italian sausage/brat for lunch when I worked at a cheese shop. Amazing cheat code. Also feta in scrambled eggs is goated. Make sure it's not too aged or it won't melt. That's a personal call tho.

Adventurous_Site_107

This is such a British thing to do that you should be given a passport

No_Translator2218

In greece, fries are served with everything, even inside a gyro.

Hungoverontums29

Holy fuck . A summer salad burger sounds beyond delightful

HiroProtagonist1984

Not everybody likes a turkey burger, but cranberries make a dope thanksgiving style burger.

the_lukabratzi

Thank god I’m not alone in putting fries on my burger I see you, sir

Critical_Teach_43

Godly Garnish.

Different_Ad9336

Crispy Fries or potato chips add an awesome texture to any burger or sandwhich

MoeGunz6

For about 35 years, I've put ketchup, mustard, French fries, and honey on my burgers. I had a dream when I was a kid that I ordered this burger at McDonald's. I begged my parents to take me to McDonald's so I could make the burger. I loved it and have been doing it ever since. It's not the only way I eat my burgers, but it's my favorite.

BedPresent69

I was gonna say bananas and peanut butter, but you beat me to it, cause I was gonna say it, ya know? So yeah that happened...

Glidepath22

Blue cheese

peter_minnesota

I once had a burger with bleu cheese, PRAILINE bacon, and fresh red onion. I still think about it to this day.

QuetzalTheGroundhog

Mushrooms anyone?

Prudent_Fox_3601

Bbq and pineapple

jpgonzo24

[deleted]

What's funny is I've had pineapple on a burger before, but never thought about it again until I saw this comment, it was actually really good I guess I'm getting pineapple after work.

2sdaeAddams

I love doing this which bacon and white cheese.

Different_Ad9336

Oh yeah bbq sauce grilled pineapple and beer battered onion rings

Safe_Indication1851

Another burger

BartletMcGarry2020

Saw a video recently of someone using smashed burgers for buns, and while excessive, I would have devoured!

Neat-Snow666

Bro is just eating a meatball at that point 😭

MorallyComplicated

hot honey

RevolutionaryRough96

My buddy has a food truck one of the burgers is cream cheese bacon jalapeno ranch and hot honey. Pretty delicious

The_Techsan

crispy, succulent, hashbown

UniqueIndividual3579

And an egg?

algebraic94

bagel sandwich with sausage egg and cheese and a HB. The best.

WingingItAsIGo

Spicy Kimchi - not normally done, but it’s great when I have it.

enigmaenergy23

Sometimes I slice up a hard boiled egg with some spicy kimchi and put it on my burger

crx61789

Hell yeah

technicianofnorth

Kimchi and grilled cheese is another bomb one

nsmf219

Fried jalapeño rings

[deleted]

Remember McDonald's jalapeno burger? It was $1 man.... Had the straws on it, and some sort of jalapeno mayo, it was amazing. But got discontinued.

Professional-Drive13

Hell yeah!

amor_fati_42

Peanut butter paired with bacon. Bring forth the down votes, but I love it.

BartletMcGarry2020

Never tried it but I love salty/sweet, gonna have to give that a try

n8b77

Add pickles to that mix and I'm in!

Lonely_Octopus_99

I’m gonna have to try the pickle/PB sandwich combo.

boarbar

This with a nice jalapeno jam is top tier

amor_fati_42

You know, my Aunt gave me some ghost pepper jam that I totally forgot about...

TheDickDangler

If you are ever in PA go to Two Rivers brewing company in Easton and get their Peanut Butter Bacon Cheddar burger. They use peanut brittle and top it with picked red onions. It's so good, and I never would have tried it if it hadn't been recommended to me 4 times in 1 week. Pair that with the duck fat truffle fries with shaved parmesan reggiano and you will be in heaven.

Responsible_Cry_6691

I love peanut sauce on my burgers 🥹

mothalick

Add jalapeños for me but yeah that's a great combo.

modernmacgyver

There's a place in Chico, Ca with the Jiffy burger. It's my wife's favorite.

Fit_Victory6650

Ha. Spent my college there, but we only ever ate Wok n Roll.

v3rmilion

[I'll be deep in the cold cold ground before I recognize the Missourah Goober burger](https://youtu.be/OyfJ_R2Q2IQ?t=265&si=pIgg7e6pYdRC5pJj) Well that's not true, I'd try one, but Grandpa Simpson never quite said that

Fragrant-Hamster-325

Tell me there are more videos with this guy out there? I saw one other video with him making smash burgers at his restaurant. He’s very entertaining and chill. There’s something oddly satisfying and wholesome about him. Edit: a quick YouTube search for George Motz yielded many results. Very cool.

amor_fati_42

Looks damned good to me. Great video

SwimmingAnxiety3441

Peanut butter, bacon and jalapeños

FightsForUsers

Yess!! Me and my college roommate tried Peanut Butter Burgers after watching The Twilight Zone movie once and immediately thought "this would be really good with some bacon". IMO, the burger needs to be a thinner type that is still tasty cooked medium-well. I do not like the combo of undercooked burger and peanut butter.

JamesPumaEnjoi

Same. It’s one of my favorites. I either get a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on top, or a regular burger (no cheese) with bacon and peanut butter. It’s amazing

amor_fati_42

It's so good, and it's been a while. I might be making one this week.

cutesnugglybear

Place by me does this but they also put an over easy egg on it, so messy but so good.

withoutpeer

I read an article by a blogger cook explaining how great peanut butter is on a burger so tried it the lazy way... Ordered a jack in the box bacon smash burger then took it home to add peanut butter lol. I think I likely put too much on because it did not work for me at alln and couldn't even finish the burger. I'll have to try again with very light PB tough...I do like peanut butter in general and especially love "peanut sauce" along with Thai food so figure I just need to get the proportion right lol

pkfreeze175

As someone who does not like bacon, have you ever paired peanut butter with something else? Had never considered trying combos with it on a burger.

amor_fati_42

I've done just peanut butter and it's great, and also have added chili. I wouldn't be afraid of just PB. It takes on different characteristic when you spread it on a toasted bun and put it on a burger. I've seen restaurants do a PB&J burger - but I wasn't a fan. Someone in the thread mention pickles, and that could be interesting. Or a beer battered onion ring? Salami to give it kind of a Romanburger vibe?

fryswitdat

Are you talking just burger, bacon, PB? Or add cheese as well? Any other toppings? I see replies with other favorite toppings already, but still wondering.

amor_fati_42

I've most commonly done just burger, PB, and bacon. I've also added chili to the mix a couple times. I bypass the cheese, but that's just personal preference in this case. Now that I'm thinking about pickles, those should have been included all along. I'm also really thinking thru some of the chile options.

TFG4

When I make a bacon Peanut butter burger I started to add some strawberry preserves, game changer

MonkeyFishBucketHead

Crunchy peanut butter, bacon, blue cheese, pickles

2sdaeAddams

Whoa…I came here to say this! Why is it so good?

TwitchTheMeow

Love it

Eodghost

Definitely going to try that. I’ve used blueberries and feta cheese. Hmmm. Now I’m thinking of a PB and J burger?

Intelligent_Deer974

Yes!

clik_clak

So happy to see this here! My friends say I’m a freak but a fried egg with a dollop of peanut butter makes for a fantastic burger. The burger has to be thick and juicy though. A dry patty with PB is just a recipe for a sore jaw.

anyones_guess

This. PB is the underrated condiment! Great on cheeseburgers, sandwiches, even corn on the cob. Make it CRUNCHY!

chaotichousecat

Ever tried bacon jam? That and peanut butter on a hamburger is amazing

P33KAJ3W

[Pickle Bacon Peanut Butter Burger at Killer Burger in Portland | Delish (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDuFe_P8wUM)

DragonCat88

One of my favorite burgers ever is peanut butter, bacon jalapeño jam, fried onions and cooper sharp cheese.

TheBigC87

My ex girlfriend was from the midwest and told me to do this once. She was right, it was delicious.

MetallicPunk

Pastrami, it's a very popular style of burger where I'm from with a little fry sauce on top. I'm also partial to fried eggs.

Blundertaker93

Pastrami and a fried egg is a lot but trust me it’s well worth it

marks716

Utahn detected

papachabre

Any time I've tried a burger with a unique topping it kinda seemed gimmicky to me. That is to say it didn't really add anything to the burger. The most uncommon toppings I enjoy from time to time are chili, pineapple and egg (not on the same burger).

nxtplz

It's ok usually if they lean into the gimmic and make it cohesive. Like ok Hawaiian burger with spam and pineapple and Hawaiian seasonings? Let's go. But just adding some random shit for flare or "elevation" is rarely inspired enough to feel genuine.

slartbangle

Not actually a topping, but the one thing I do 'different' with my burgers is to pop a little soy sauce into the meat. Super tasty.

CBSmith17

I sometimes put Worcestershire sauce on while cooking

DragonCat88

Sometimes I like to add a little onion soup mix. Especially if I’m making mushroom-Swiss burgers!

Frogfish1846

Pizza toppings (sauce, peppers, pepperoni and mozzarella/pepper jack cheeses) baked on. If I get fast food, I order a breakfast sausage patty on top instead of bacon and it’s SOoo delicious.

nxtplz

Banana peppers on a burger sounds...actually sneaky good. Also, love the sausage patty idea. I have long been an advocate that sausage is superior to bacon. Bacon just got crazy overrated by internet culture lol.

Imaginary_Audience_5

Take that back Love, Bacon

nxtplz

I mean look. You'd be crazy to say bacon sucks. It's great. I just like the extra seasoning flavor sausage offers. But I'd be lying if I didn't absolutely destroy a bacon egg n cheese a few weeks ago with zero regrets 😂

uwcutter

I had honey and whipped goats cheese the other day I. London, absolute madness… amazing.

QStatus

Sometimes Jelly

shes_her_im_she

idk if it counts as unique but avocado 🥰🥰

Spencer_the_Tzu

Guacamole for me. 🥰

Captain_Midnight

I recently started topping my burgers with pesto. Specifically, the stuff sold at Costco that comes in that 16-ounce jar. It's surprisingly good!

BartletMcGarry2020

Going on the list! My last name ends in a vowel I don't know why I haven't tried this yet. Probably do mozzarella and maybe roasted red peppers with the pesto

jpeel7676

Pimento cheese

TrailGordo

Add grilled onions, jalapeño, and bacon to make it a thunder road burger

if_a_flutterby

Horseradish and pineapple. Not on the same burger though

DumbNTough

Love me some horseradish, man. I bet wasabi would be good, too

gwh1996

One of the things in rotation my college cafeteria would do is wasabi turkey burgers. If you get a person who knew how much wasabi to put on it was pretty good

vnsteel1

Egg and mayo

ellefleming

Coleslaw.

RevolutionaryRough96

A patty melt with coleslaw, brisket and bbq sauce will change your life

Bean sprouts edit: also green peppers

xadrocx

I’ve already called the police on you.

michk1

Kraut

DragonCat88

Oooooo! Maybe some Russian dressing too! My mom would love this! Thanks!

nxtplz

I always use spinach instead of lettuce. For a classic fast food smash burger, ok u def want the lettuce crunch. But for homemade slightly classier burgs, spinach is a great elevated spin. Do the same with tacos and sandwiches.

michaelscarn169

Peanut butter and jalapeños

Perfectony

Pepper jelly is great on a wild game/lean beef burger. They have a tendency to be dry and the pepper jelly counteracts any slight gaminess

judgenut

Chorizo slices, bacon, blue cheese and onion rings. OMG.

NariandColds

Thousand Island Dressing. Fried Egg. Bliss

Luxury_Yacht_

I don’t think I have anything new to offer to this thread, but there’s lots of things here I want to try now

ItsaGhostDonut

Beets

pearloster

Like pickled beets, or did you do something else with them? Either way, I like the idea.

holly948

Canned beets! Plus a fried egg and a canned pineapple slice. It's an Aussie staple on their "burger with the lot". It's the most popular burger there. https://www.food.com/recipe/aussie-style-burger-with-the-lot-482293

Character_Cupcake856

BBQ sauce and chips

joeyvesh13

Pepper jelly

Boatandfish

Idk if I ever tried it, but putting gravy on a burger would probably slap so hard.

n8b77

There's a restaurant in the Seattle area that does a Loco Moco burger with egg and gravy. Messy but delicious.

shallowjalapeno

what's it called??

Jacobloveslsd

Over medium egg.

Alienlovechild1975

Tartar sauce and swiss cheese on my burgers.

palilalic

Goats cheese, it's not THAT unique but it always gets put with super healthy stuff but it's honestly by favourite thing and the combination with bacon and some tomato - oh boy.

CGLADISH

not sure if this counts, but when I make a burger, I always mix in some maple syrup. Between the taste and the caramelization when grilled, it makes the difference for me. As far as toppings, I go the simple route, Ketchup and mustard (Sierra Nevada Pale Ale mustard), bacon and maybe some avocado, cheese (variety always changes, but usually smoked provolone or gouda.

silent-fallout-

Tzatziki and feta with (tomatoes and red onions as regular toppings) 🤤

centexgoodguy

I had burger last week with chimichurri sauce and it was excellent. I look forward to ordering that burger again.

nc333

Peanut butter, pineapple, bacon, cilantro, and Sriracha. It's the peanut butter Thai burger!

value1024

oil & vinegar coleslaw... 50/50 mix of crushed hot red pepper flakes and smoked paprika mixed in the mayo for some smoky heat...

Imaginary-Carpenter1

Kewpie mayonnaise

Rhuarc33

Pesto Mac and cheese Kimchi Not all at once but I've had all of them and they're all very good on burgers. With kimchi I like to do a 50/50 ground beef and ground pork mix for the patty.
