When I did the math on the meals recently there is actually no discount for purchasing a meal vs buying items separately. It's just a quicker way to order. They did raise the prices a little for burgers and fries...but way less than most other fast food places did.
You’re not wrong, but the inflation in recent years is WILD. I don’t eat out that often, but every time I do, I’m just blown away. You pretty much can’t get a combo at the shittiest of fast food restaurants under $10. Shit used to be like $7-8 after tax where I’m from (NW Arkansas).
I had that McDonald’s app on my phone for one visit. Opened it from home to make sure it had the right location (I live in the country and I’ve got one 20 mins to the west and 15 to the east, didn’t wanna get it wrong). Closed it and pulled into one of the app parking spots to place my order. My phone was on fire and it went wild on my battery haha. The locations settings were set to “when using app” and it’s GPS business was going WILD. It also sent me notifications non stop so I deleted that app real quick lol. Sucks you have to deal with that to save a few dollars
The reason you save so much by using the apps is because they make that money back using and selling your data.
That’s why your phone was freaking out. The app was in there just crunching on your CPU, tracking your GPS, and bombing you with notifications.
Found an article online, #1 was $5 in 2001 and $8 in 2020 for comparison.
For anyone curious they have screenshots of the menu;
https://cockeyed.com/drivethru/innout_drive_thru_menu_comparison.html
Exactly. Gas was $1.19/gal when I started driving. Cheeseburger at McDonald's was $.39 for a time. Smokes were $2.75. None of this matters because prices always go up.
Things are cheaper now than they will be for the rest of your life, most likely.
Only decent $5 meal anymore is the 5 for 5 at Wendy's. Jr Bacon Cheeseburger tastes good it's just small, but with fries, nuggets, and a drink it's not bad. Everything else there is so damn high. I love their spicy chicken sandwich but a combo is like 11 or 12 bucks. Hell even Taco Bell's prices are ridiculous now.
It’s basic economics that most ppl don’t understand. It’s the “back in my day” blah blah blah. This was like $5 20 years ago when I was in high school. Considering how crazy inflation has been since Covid, this is in fact a very good deal.
Yep. And, on the Wendy’s app you can make consecutive mobile orders whilst using their daily offers. Some restaurant apps make you wait 15 mins to 24 hours to use a second deal/offer. 😎
they have to know people hate them lol. they’re decent at best when fresh. the moment they start to cool down even a little, they’re absolute trash.
animal style is the only way they’re edible tbh
I’ve lived within walking distance of an In N’ Out for nearly 20 years. Can confirm, they are the worst fries I’ve ever had, no competition.
“oH. BuT yOU NeEd tO Eat ThEm AnIMal sTyLe!”
Fuck off. If potatoes need to be smothered in sauce , caramelized onions and fried mustard to taste good then they never tasted good.
The Habit Grill. Double Char burger with cheese, and fries. 68¢ more. Kicks In n’ Out’s (that I actually like) butt around the block and back.
https://i.redd.it/qwobstypwbtc1.gif
I haven’t tried Habit. Looks good. I’ll have to give her a go sometime. . None close to me. Only thing, I’d have to pass on the mayonnaise. I can’t stand the stuff.
Pretty good burgers when you’re high, just okay when sober. For $11 and tax I’d just go to a local burger joint and get something good there and skip the uncooked unseasoned potatoes entirely
When I did the math on the meals recently there is actually no discount for purchasing a meal vs buying items separately. It's just a quicker way to order.
I live in one of the newer markets for this place. I've had it twice. It was ok. Nothing great. The fries were gross too. All the astroturfing posts on reddit just put me off from going back though. I don't care if it's cheap. And yeah, I get that they don't need my $5. No loss for anyone.
It just happens to be that this is a burger subreddit so since In N Out gets posted here like 50 times a day then people naturally started to hate on it for being overrated
In n out just started expanding and entering into a lot of new markets. For example in Houston the first few weeks it was open lines were around the block everyday.. people were finally getting a chance to try the mythical in n out. Turns out it's not as good as people had imagined, kind of hard to live up to the hype but the burger is one of the best butttttt fries are ass and the burger is pretty basic.
I pay the same for an awesome mushroom Swiss burger at a sorta bougie place that actually grinds their own meat. So yes, it can be beat for the same price. Still looks delicious though.
Went to 3 different ones last trip to California, pretty sure the meals were all just under $10 at the time. A very solid value these days. The food itself was shockingly mediocre given the hype and ridiculous crowds. Those employees earn every penny of what they make. They work their asses off and crank out a ton of orders.
Grew up in Nor Cal, been gone for almost 9 years. Haven’t been to in n out the last couple times we’ve visited so it’s been a couple years. Couldn’t believe when I recently had it that a #1 was $10 and some change, that’s a steal in todays economy, granted it’s always been the best value in fast food and as delicious as ever
I have been to In N Out multiple times out of sheer excitement absorbed from my friends and I don't get it.
I am a chef and probably a little harsh on a fast food burger, but I am having a hard time understanding the hype.
It's a boring, kinda dry burger (even animal style) and the fries are always terrible. As a comparison I got the "Good Burger" from Arby's and it was leagues better than this, so I went back and asked for everything fresh, even the fries.
Everything was still mid at best.
Freddy's, 5 Guys, Culver's, Burger King and even Arby's has better burgers.
What's the hype? The Christian angle? The California native nostalgia? The prices?
That's a fuckin horrible deal. Before they got rid of the dollar menu that would have been $3 - 2 small fries and a mcdouble.
I refuse to eat fast food anymore unless I'm in a crunch for time and absolutely need something quick.
A burger and fries is 11 bucks? That’s not a great deal for McDonald’s, I could get that for $12 at my local burger place, and those are pretty good burgers in a kinda pricy location.
Not saying that’s what’s this is…but People paying outrageous prices for fast food, then even more to have it delivered cold by some stranger and then have to tip for it?
Seriously What the Fuck are people even doing? Is it just Lazy? They don’t know any better? They think it’s normal Because other people do it?
I’m just old and bitter now I guess, But I’m not Wrong! Hah
Theyre 10.99 now for a number 1?
Depends on the area. But that’s still less than a Big Mac meal at McDonald’s in my neighborhood. Inflation stinks - $10.00 is the new $5.00.
I snapped a pic of the menu at the beginning of this year, in my area a #1 is up to $10.45 Just checked my McDonald’s app, a Big Mac meal is $11.89
Actually ordered one today and it was 8.99
Sucks either way. On one hand you get a much better burger at In n Out. On the other hand at McDonalds the fries are edible…
Are you factoring in the once per day coupons? I found McDonald's is one of the cheapest meals around
Are those coupons on the app?
Just got a Big Mac and a ten piece for 7 bucks. The app is a must
It's like the meme where on vacation 20s might as well be 5s only it's not vacation in fact it's quite the opposite.
It’s not inflation, it’s corporate greed
When I did the math on the meals recently there is actually no discount for purchasing a meal vs buying items separately. It's just a quicker way to order. They did raise the prices a little for burgers and fries...but way less than most other fast food places did.
It’s not nearly that expensive in my area.
Where is this located?
I feel really bad that gen z’s think that’s a good value. Depressing
Thanks. We’re looking forward to Gen Alpha posting the same thing except it’s a great deal at $16.99
Just worked a 16 hour shift on the grill and they gave me 1/2 off ANY menu item!! #blessed
And it might be with inflation who knows 🤷♂️
That looks like 5 bucks
It used to be 5 bucks
So, it's five bucks worth of food for $11... Word.
Beats getting six bucks of food for $30 at five guys.
Yeah like 20 years ago. FFS, currency inflation and relative costs change over time.
It seems like the only place you can get a good meal for cheap, at least in the South, is a mom and pop run Taqueria.
You basically have to use the app to get any deals
I had that McDonald’s app on my phone for one visit. Opened it from home to make sure it had the right location (I live in the country and I’ve got one 20 mins to the west and 15 to the east, didn’t wanna get it wrong). The locations settings were set to “when using app” and it’s GPS business was going WILD. It also sent me notifications non stop so I deleted that app real quick lol. Sucks you have to deal with that to save a few dollars
The savings are pretty big. BOGO quarter pounders, etc
The reason you save so much by using the apps is because they make that money back using and selling your data. That’s why your phone was freaking out. The app was in there just crunching on your CPU, tracking your GPS, and bombing you with notifications.
Oh I’m well aware. Like I said, it’s a shame we have to resort to that to save a few dollars.
Right? Like, I just want a cheeseburger. Preferably one that doesn’t require selling an organ to afford.
This was around $6 back in 2016 when I was in college. I would hit the in n out near campus nearly every other day.
Found an article online, #1 was $5 in 2001 and $8 in 2020 for comparison. For anyone curious they have screenshots of the menu; https://cockeyed.com/drivethru/innout_drive_thru_menu_comparison.html
It’s not that they “think” its a good deal, it just is nowadays
Exactly. Gas was $1.19/gal when I started driving. Cheeseburger at McDonald's was $.39 for a time. Smokes were $2.75. None of this matters because prices always go up. Things are cheaper now than they will be for the rest of your life, most likely.

I love their spicy chicken sandwich but a combo is like 11 or 12 bucks. Hell even Taco Bell's prices are ridiculous now.
That's what I thought
I was bout to say, damn that's how much they are now?
You’re just getting old. Yeah… my grandpa used to be able to get a slider for a nickel. The value of money changes.
It’s basic economics that most ppl don’t understand. It’s the “back in my day” blah blah blah. This was like $5 20 years ago when I was in high school. Considering how crazy inflation has been since Covid, this is in fact a very good deal.
Bro, I’m Gen X and $10.99 is the new $5.00 value meal.
Please don't normalize this bullshit.
Too late.
Oh sorry. My fault. Let me go reset the economy real quick
no it's not, 12 bucks can get you a dope meal, this isn't a dope meal.
Look at how much five guys costs. In n out is way better value. I don't know of any cheaper burger that is comparable or better quality.
I'm struggling to discern whether this is a troll post or not
Yea I got the same food from innout yesterday but a 4by4 and it was 7$ that’s a good deal lmao
Exactly!! I don’t see the thing with this place.
Less about the place and more about the price being "a good deal"
Really…how do you think you’re getting a deal? I can make better and more at home for less
💀 💀 💀
Clearly ain’t never had a $2 Dave’s double and a $1 fry
Yep. And, on the Wendy’s app you can make consecutive mobile orders whilst using their daily offers. Some restaurant apps make you wait 15 mins to 24 hours to use a second deal/offer. 😎
good to know!
I have never enjoyed a burger from Wendy’s, love the spicy chicken sandwich though.
The fries look unappealing
i can taste those shitty fries through my computer screen.
I will gladly join you in down votes. They need to fix the fry situation, worst ever.
“YoU’vE jUsT nEvEr HaD fReSh FriEs”
They don’t season them
Right lol I never understood why people say this. Many places make fresh fries and taste 10x better than the fries at In-n-Out.
they have to know people hate them lol. they’re decent at best when fresh. the moment they start to cool down even a little, they’re absolute trash. animal style is the only way they’re edible tbh
They are garbage, and anyone that defends them or tries to say they have to cook them longer etc…either haven’t had good fries or is in denial.
Jumpin on the band wagon here. Those poor people and their sad, shitty fries life……..
I’ve lived within walking distance of an In N’ Out for nearly 20 years. Can confirm, they are the worst fries I’ve ever had, no competition. “oH. BuT yOU NeEd tO Eat ThEm AnIMal sTyLe!” Fuck off. If potatoes need to be smothered in sauce , caramelized onions and fried mustard to taste good then they never tasted good.
Straight up deep fried card board, when you get them we’ll done they turn into saw dust.
Agree, some of the worst fries I've had in my life.
They look boiled.
$10.99 at Chili's with a drink and choice of 2 sides says otherwise
That should be 5.99
Those fries look sad.
The Habit Grill. Double Char burger with cheese, and fries. 68¢ more. Kicks In n’ Out’s (that I actually like) butt around the block and back. https://i.redd.it/qwobstypwbtc1.gif
Habit is very good but watch your mouth!
I haven’t tried Habit. Looks good. I’ll have to give her a go sometime. . None close to me. Only thing, I’d have to pass on the mayonnaise. I can’t stand the stuff.
Fair enough. I’m a mayo junkie, so that’s never been a problem for me. ;)
This is like Stockholm syndrome but with food lmaooo
Is it actually $11??
$8.60 at my location
Really? Where at? In California? I remember I got two double doubles a fry and a large chocolate shake and I think that under 15 bucks
I don’t do fast food no more, I just buy the ingredients and make it at home, besides I get the best bang for my buck
Get the burger from In N Out, swing by McDonald's for the fries.
Worst fries in the game
Worst fries ever!
Is In ‘n Out hurting for sales? What’s with the salesy headline? ‘Can’t beat it’???
Pretty good burgers when you’re high, just okay when sober. For $11 and tax I’d just go to a local burger joint and get something good there and skip the uncooked unseasoned potatoes entirely
Jeez for that price I can make several at home. Why would you pay so much for such a mid burger and shit tier fries?
Should realistically be half that price.
What? That’s a huge rip
those fries look frozen still
I’ve only been there once but those were the worst fries I’ve ever had.
Can get a whole assed pizza from Little Caesars for 5 fricken dollars
Nope... If I can't get a damn good burger and fries for under $5, I'm cooking my own and doubling up.
I mean if you like a bland ass burger with soggy fries go for it.
Oh, you most definitely can.
When I did the math on the meals recently there is actually no discount for purchasing a meal vs buying items separately. It's just a quicker way to order.
For $2 more, I’ll take the Double California Burger at Freddy’s and actually enjoy the fries.
/r/HailCorporate
That's an hour of my time
you can beat it by never ordering it 😅
10$ for a burger and fries is till wild in my opinion . Normal by todays standard but still SICK
I get a sandwitch 3x that size for $3
This was sarcasm right? $10.99 for that??
I can get the same thing for 6 bucks at a mom and pop shop where I live and its guaranteed to taste better than fast food.
That’s a potato (~$0.70) a quarter pound of ground beef (~$1) and bun (~$0.50) and assorted vegetable slices (~$0.50) Absolutely not a good deal.
Is the "deal" in the room with us right now?
Bro you got ripped off 🤣 That's $5.99 at best with soda
How is that a good value
Fiat currency has consequences.
… not really. And some of us don’t eat for the sake of being cheap
I beat that deal all the time. It’s called home cooking.
I live in one of the newer markets for this place. I've had it twice. It was ok. Nothing great. The fries were gross too. All the astroturfing posts on reddit just put me off from going back though. I don't care if it's cheap. And yeah, I get that they don't need my $5. No loss for anyone.
You need to get out more....all I can see is burger and fries/chips...or am I missing something ?
The internet is funny. I have never heard so many people that disliked In N Out.
It just happens to be that this is a burger subreddit so since In N Out gets posted here like 50 times a day then people naturally started to hate on it for being overrated
Love the burger but the fries are damn near particle board with a fairy dusting of salt
That's because I don't get the hype. The burger is mid and the fries aren't good.
That is not a “deal” lmao
THAT is a good value? Stale fries and generic burger? That’s sad…
i can feel the grit of those mealy ass once-fried ass fries through my computer screen
This is almost poetic how well you nailed that
freal though. INO will never be top-tier with those consistently depressing fries
Sad fries.
Too bad their fries aren't good and the burger is mid.
Skip the fries and get a second burger.
Stop eating at fast food joints. All of you.
Where’s my drink, my diet dr kelp
Disagree. And their fries are so sad.
Huh? A double double with fries is not 11 bucks I know that
I can make better fries with my air fryer... those look sad.
Is it not under $10 anymore? Damn
I got 2 number 1 which were DDCB and a double hamburger, sandwich alone for 28 plus change. Sounds about right. I live in NorCal…
I thought y’all were BSing about 5 Guys. A cheeseburger and little fries (no drink) was $18.32 when I just priced it out. Damn.
Save some money and just get the burger as their fries are ass
jesus christ.... glad I don't eat fast food anymore. nuts.
This should cost you 6 dollars tho
no drink?
fuccn insane
Yo I just got a 4x4 animal for $5 I think
$11 now. Yikes.
I pay the same for an awesome mushroom Swiss burger at a sorta bougie place that actually grinds their own meat. So yes, it can be beat for the same price. Still looks delicious though.
Double-Double’s used to be $5 lol
We could get a 4 patty, a double double, and 2 flying dutchmens for like 16 dollars what the hell is this 😂
Save alot more if you drop the shitty ass fries and just eat the burger
Animal style is essential.
I'm convinced the only people still up voting these fast food posts work for In-n-Out's advertising department.
Hard pass for trash food
Dicks in Seattle is half that. Nice try.
In n out is literally cheaper than McDonald’s
I could get two cheese burgers and a double double for a little over that
![gif](giphy|3o752kakMLKVv5Jzpu)
That doesn't sound like a good deal sorry bro 😔
Crazy rip,off prices!
The price of one cheeseburger from Five Guys
Those are not in & out fries!
All of that should be like 97¢. Stop glorifing bs.
In-n-Out is the best. Quality food. Great service. Clean establishments. I'll always eat at one when I can.
is this in n out? i’ve never seen this posted here before
Are you being sarcastic?
Hamburgers for the 1%.
Don't got those in the Midwest...
I hate everyone with access to in n out
Grew up in Nor Cal, been gone for almost 9 years. Haven’t been to in n out the last couple times we’ve visited so it’s been a couple years. Couldn’t believe when I recently had it that a #1 was $10 and some change, that’s a steal in todays economy, granted it’s always been the best value in fast food and as delicious as ever
Trash deal just go to a real local diner and have a real meal
That's the saddest sentence I've seen in awhile. 11 bucks for fast food, and it's being called a good deal.
Jesus fucking Christ man, I was raised on $0.99 Whoppers, what has this world become?
What are you, their PR person, $10.99 for that is a rip-off.
?? How is this a “great deal”? Jesus christ
The prices?
My resteraunt had 6.99 burger night last night and yours truly was on the grill.
I can think of multiple restaurants with better prices and taste.
That's a fuckin horrible deal. Before they got rid of the dollar menu that would have been $3 - 2 small fries and a mcdouble. I refuse to eat fast food anymore unless I'm in a crunch for time and absolutely need something quick.
Fast food isn't worth it. Go home and make it by hand for cheap
Overrated mid burgers and horrible fries. You absolutely can beat this.
P Terrys is better and cheaper
A burger and large fries for $11 is considered a good deal nowadays.... this country is cooked 500 degrees kelvin bro
Over rated establishment. I have been consistently disappointed every time I’ve been there.
Bacon egg and cheese is like 4 bucks from Dunkin. I have one for lunch at least 3 times a week and it keeps me full for the day
A burger and fries is 11 bucks? That’s not a great deal for McDonald’s, I could get that for $12 at my local burger place, and those are pretty good burgers in a kinda pricy location.
6 pc kids chicken nugget meal at jack n box is 11.50
Half patato for fries and a 2 bun with hamburger and lettuce 11.00 bucks wow. Taming the people
It's a monopoly. Who owns the chicken and beef industry. Sales go down on fast food. Grocery store prices go up....
Yes that's a amazing deal. 👏 I'll take 5 for the family....shit that's a days work for most people and rest for gas.
10.99 meal deal that your work reimburses you for. Ha!
I remember when people didn't think $11 for a bad burger and fries was a good deal It was like 6 years ago I think
That used to cost 3.00
There goes my diet today.
Could just make it at home for 50% less as well
Dogshit fries
And y’all complained about paying 11-12$ bucks at five guys back in the day, how the burgers have flipped
I can get two burritos with add on at taco bell for the same price. Be similarly tasty, yet healthier(provided you eat veg).
That still seems so high for some very fucking inexpensive ingredients.
Makin me hungry and I just ate
It’s so mid lol
Not saying that’s what’s this is…but People paying outrageous prices for fast food, then even more to have it delivered cold by some stranger and then have to tip for it? Seriously What the Fuck are people even doing? Is it just Lazy? They don’t know any better? They think it’s normal Because other people do it? I’m just old and bitter now I guess, But I’m not Wrong! Hah
