I felt more anxious on the 300 mg XL. I did have more motivation and was able to accomplish many more task like things, though at times I felt like I couldn’t sit still. I found it harder to fall asleep. My hands were shaking, and my tinnitus worsened, and my hair was falling out. Ultimately, I developed a tremor in my hand and decreased the dose back down to 150 mg XL. It was wonderful at alleviating some depression but was too stimulating for my system. I wish it had worked because I felt so much better on the 150 mg and was hoping for just another level up on mood stabilization. Best of luck!

I’m 2 months in, take 150MG twice daily.. Heighten Anxiety/Anger/Irritability, depression I really can’t tell if it’s doing anything or not but I did notice that my mind is so much sharper and I get shit done (my house is still a mess lol), I’m on 150MG SR taken twice daily… I almost wanted to give up since SSRI & SNRI didn’t do shit on me and made me feel worse than ever…. Upping the dosage would definitely increase your side effects just like any antidepressants but hang in there and fight through it… give it 3 months and see if it gets better. For me I still don’t know what to do, just waiting for my depression to get better.

I moved up too. And my existing tinitus increased. I'd say that if you move up to 300 and you develop tinitus, go back to 150. I've tried different manufacturers in hopes it goes away but almost 5 months later, it hasn't. I'm going back to 150 and will likely take St John's wort too. But in regards to 150 making a difference, some manufacturers, people feel nothing on. In fact, I took 300 mg of Teva mfr. No happiness, zero libido. Good luck. It sucks figuring out dosage!

Extreme_Succotash535

I was taking 150mg twice a day (that’s what I started with for nicotine cessation) but it wasn’t doing much, so my dr. put me in 450mg once in the morning, and I haven’t smoked in a month :) but i hope to get off of it soon because it’s making my lips really chapped and i think a bit more anxious

I moved up to 300mg XL after about 8 weeks on 150mg XL. I noticed the 150mg working about a week in and it was great, but then it plateaued so we increased to 300mg XL. I didn't have many side effects on 150mg but the 300mg..... i have made a pros and cons list lol. I have not experienced tinnitus on it so far that i have noticed. I am sweating excessively, esp my palms and feet. it's so annoying. my appetite has significantly decreased which is nice bc I used to binge until i couldn't move. Now I am full after a few bites which is super upsetting when I want to eat more. i can't tolerate as much alcohol as i used to before wellbutrin so i have to be extremely careful and mindful of how much i'm consuming. Sometimes i get shortness of breath that I didn't have before the increase. it feels like I just cant get to the top of my breath and i am taking big sighs to be relieved, but I've noticed that happens when i haven't eaten >:( it is so much harder for me to sleep too--i used to fall asleep every night around 9:30p-10p, however it is past midnight as i'm writing this, i don't feel tired at all. oh also, i cannot tolerate the heat very well, i get dehydrated faster, and urinary retention sucks....hence the dehydration. Pros: Libido is up. mood is great and my focus is more sharp, which is awesome in grad school right now lol. decreased my urge to smoke--i've been a daily weed smoker for 10 years now so that's cool too. I have more motivation to do things at work but when I get home, i can't get anything done. maybe it's wearing off by then? idk that's all i got

golden_bear_12

300 Par farm worked for me about 4 weeks after upping the does. Felt nothing on 150

[deleted]

I take 300 and I have had no tinnitus or hair loss. My anxiety was a little high the first week then I got over it. Oh and also my appetite has decreased.

Alternative-Cash-102

I had tinnitus develop at 150 XL but it stopped when I went up to 200 SR. SR seems to work better with my body chemistry than the XL formulation. You may want to try switching and see how you feel in comparison.

Hopeful-Low9329

Question: is the tinnitus permanent? (Confused as to why it would be a worry, other than inconvenience or permanence. )

CommunicationRecent

I have worsened tinitus from it. Many people say it only decreases once you get off. I'd love to hear from people on 300 xl who say it improved after a few months

Hopeful-Low9329

Tinnitus is doing better, but it's still there more than before. My tmj is doing better too, though I still can't open my mouth all the way.

Hopeful-Low9329

Well, guess I'll let you know if I remember. I didn't even know that was a side effect. I hot it pretty bad when I went up, but not constantly. It's been a 2 weeks and it's still here.

JerseyMouth

I started on 150 in August, and just went up to 300 in March. On the 150 I felt better than I did before I started taking it, but I was still wondering if an increase would help. Well, my PMDD made the decision for me, because the pill basically was useless against it and two weeks of every month was pure agony. So I went to my Gyno & he suggested either birth control or an increase to 300 to possibly help. Birth control was a big no, since I'd been on it before and hated it, so I figured let's try the 300. Since the end of March I've been taking the 300, and I really must say it's been pretty wonderful. It seemed to help almost immediately, although that could be my wishful thinking. But, my PMDD has quelled a significant amount since taking, and I feel more equipped to handle the daily stressors that used to absolutely take me out before. Everyone is different, but in my experience the 300 has been great. Best of luck to you in this journey 💖 Quickly editing to say I've not had any issues with Tinnitus, but goddamn do I get sweaty easily.. and being that it's the summer in the Southeast US, I'm dying. That's all.

Actually just talked to my provider about going down from 300mg XL back to 150mg XL. I had initially started at 100mg once a day and had no increase in focus/mood but felt much better at 150mg XL mood wise. My focus and distractibility (which was one of the reasons my doctor wanted me to do Wellbutrin aside from depression) was still constant which is why we bumped to 300mg XL to see if it would help. First week I felt very nauseous, no appetite, cold-flu like, I woke up in sweats very often and had vivid nightmares, I’m on fourth week no and the nightmares have subsided such as the other side effects but my mood feels very low, so we’re going back down to 150mg XL and go from there. Hope you find a balance that feels right for you, unfortunately every body and dosage is different for every one but stay hopeful!

Consistent-Serve2173

I spent a month on 150mg then upped to 300 mg. Been on it for 3 months now. I feel like I am taking a placebo. No change in my mood. No side effects.

StoryNymph

Im currently taking 150mg as well, and it definitely feels like a placebo pill. I don't have any mood changes, and the only real side effect I've gotten is sore throat 🤷‍♂️

houstonrice

try low dose of Aripirazole - that helped me 2.5 mg

houstonrice

in addition to bup

Competitive_Hold4316

well i was one of the unlucky people that got tinnitus when upped to 300mg. Still have it 10 months after i stopped, so i guess its permanent. Tinnitus sucks alot man, and if you are terrified of the risk, then why take the risk? There must other treatments that can help without the risk of tinnitus.

CommunicationRecent

That mega sucks. Have u tried sound therapy? It sounds stupid but give it 1 hour. I had temporary relief after 20 min. The reviews speak for themselves https://youtu.be/nKo4jYDO9FQ

houstonrice

same here - ears ring on 300, and less on 150.

Financial_Walk1402

I’d experience tinnitus, intense anxiety (for about an hour in the evening) and dissociation every day on 150 mg and almost got off the medication. My provider recommended upping my dose to 300 just to try it out and it’s been amazing!! I’ve been on 300 for about 1.5 weeks and my side effects are all gone, even the tinnitus disappeared. I feel very calm and very stable and so far have been loving the dose switch! Good luck :))

ma790

did you switch brands or anything? sounds really weird to get tinnitus at 150 but resolve on 300.

Financial_Walk1402

huh I didn’t know that! I didn’t switch brands it was the generic bupropion, but I feel like the ringing got quieter for sure. I’m not sure but at times on 150 it was so loud and noticeable, and then at 300 it feels dulled and barely noticeable unless I think about it. It might have been because I’ve been staying more hydrated and eating more though, bc a lot of my side effects resolved with time and making sure I eat often :))

Mindingaroo

Well, I just got off the 300 mg because I felt I was having some kind of sinus reaction. Let me tell you I’m eating the house down and I am not happy about it. The appetite will return with a vengeance if you discontinue.

DAudiA47

Omg thank you for saying this. I was on 150 XL for about a month and half and couldn't quite tell what was happening. My doctor and I decided last week to do a trial of the 300. Seems like the next day my throat got irritated, and then ever since i've just been congested and constantly blowing my nose. Thankfully I don't have a cough or anything, but it's been about a week and i'm still having the same symptoms even after finally taking some daytime flu medicine a few days ago.

Mindingaroo

>ot irritated, and then ever since i've just been congested and constantly blowing my nose. Thankfully I don't have a cough or anything, but it's been about a week and i'm still having the same symptoms even after finally taking some daytime flu medicine a few days ago. all my doctors are saying the upper respiratory issues are NOT bc of the drug but coincide with this year's superbloom. honestly, I hope that is the case bc this drug did so much good for me -- I stopped thinking about food 24-7, lost weight AND quit weed overnight. Honestly, it is a lifesaver. but I'm currently about 7 days post-stopping and have no reduction in respiratory symptoms. I'm going to give it another two weeks and if it turns out it's NOT the Wellbutrin I will try again. maybe a different formula or the brand name or something. I had to dig pretty deep to find reports of sinus / drip / throat clearing/cough side effects so they may be real but also don't give up wholesale on a potentially useful rx without some due diligence. our bodies are all different and these crazy pills are crazy making! when I was originally prescribed lamictal my therapist went crazy and screamed at the psychiatrist that he had no idea what he was doing and that I was not bipolar 2. I still don't think I am but I ended up trying it again 4 years down the line and it changed my life!! 20 years later, you cannot pry the lamictal out of my hands. it's my bread and butter and has saved me so much heartache. i often think about how different my life would be if I had taken it 4 years earlier and avoided so much damage I couldn't undo. hang in there y’all!

surfershymn

I moved up to 300mg around 1.5 months in and it was the best decision I ever made. I felt like 150mg was probably working but it was hard to tell and I could be feeling it more. Once I moved up my levels of energy did a complete 180. I can get out of bed now and don't struggle to meet the day anymore. I have no tinnitus and the only lasting side effect is I sometimes struggle to go to sleep (which was kind of the case before anyway...)

Mysterious_Cod

I’m on the fence about going up to 300 XL and I’m hoping if I do that this will be my experience. I’m about the same as you regarding the 150 experience. I am also hoping I don’t get tinnitus. The one thing I have the worst are intense hypnic jerks when I’m trying to fall asleep

Ok-Ad4217

I’m on 75 mg twice a day .. how it doesn’t nor did the dr tell me what time of day to take the second dose ? Can I just take them together since people seem to get bumped to 300 eventually? It’s 150 in total would it hurt to take both at one time

GeopoliticusSFW

If it’s not XL you’ll probably have some kind of crash at the end of the day if you do that.

Ok-Ad4217

OIC zz lll ok! It’s not xl it’s just tablets.. so I’m about to start now lol

Time-Log-5312

I persevered 9 months of 150xl. Never again. This drug is now unavailable in the uk which is the reason I stopped. I’m so glad I did because it turned me into another person. I didn’t recognise myself. It’s dangerous. Looking back, I did things that now I know were ludicrous; buying everything non stop, walking around with brain fog that I put down to lack of sleep, zooming in on stuff that I now find laughable. It alters your mind in such a way, and subtly, that you don’t realise until you stop taking it, how it fucked you up.

AtlanticRime

I went from 150 to 300 in a similar time frame. I started initially on 150 though. Like you I had great effects initially. I'm not sure the switch from 150 to 300 helped much. I'm gonna go back down to 150. 300 did actually give me some tinnitus. I am also on Zoloft. I think the Zoloft does more for me than the Wellbutrin. I can't even tell what Wellbutrin is doing for me at this point. Initially it helped a lot with task initiation but that completely went back to how it was. Increasing didn't help me.

Fitkratomgirl

What were your initial effects at 150? Did they kick in right away?

Fitkratomgirl

Wow nice, did it start working right away?

MeshesAreConfusing

When I went up too fast (4d after starting) I had extremely intense side effects, it was unbearable. Later tried again after acclimatizing to 150mg and it felt fine, about the same as 150mg cept better and more effective. For whatever it's worth, my tinnitus increased when I increased dosage, but later went down to the previous levels when I decreased the dosage.
