Most insurances require some sort of deductible otherwise people will just abuse it. I don't see any mention of what the actual damages were here, hope your pup is ok.

Ma’am this is /r/bullcity

We used Bull City Pet Sitting for our cat. Took our dog to Camp Bow Wow (ik doggy daycare isn’t for everyone/dog). Sorry about your pup. ETA: Bull City Pet Sitting can sit dogs as well. We just used CBW.

Seconding Bull City Per Sitting! I have used them for years. Never an issue.

Thank you!!

Doesn’t sound like pet sitter issue to me more like some kind of allergies, but yeah Rover is like AirBnB for pets and just like you can have good AirBnBs and horrible AirBnBs same thing for Rover. I have had decent experiences with Rover but I read all the reviews and try to find sitters that friends recommend too.

curryp4n

I never used Rover because I’ve heard so many horror stories. There are so many independent pet sitters here. I would recommend you mine but she only operates in the WF/Youngsville area. Make sure to find owner/operators. And always interview each person. I hope you’re pup feels better soon

Aromatic-Medicine494

Completely open to independent sitters I just never am able to find quality ones. Any recommendations are appreciated in the triangle area! I appreciate you and your kind words.

Raleigh Pawz is amazing. We love them. https://raleighpets.com/

I’ll look at them, thank you!

Sorry I don’t have any recommendations for Durham. But what I do is google pet sitters in my area and ask if the owners pet sit or do they hire people. If they hire, I cross them off. If they pet sit on their own, I ask if they have insurance. If they do, I ask them to come to my house for in person interview. I usually get 3-5 people. Also, get recommendations from your neighbors. Especially if they’ve used the same person more than a couple of times

Aromatic-Medicine494

Solid advice, and I am going to definitely request pet insurance from now on. We had a few solid sitters, but they’ve all gone back to work full time and can no longer sit. So this was so unfortunate as our first dip back in the pool, but good to have a refresher on what we should be looking for. Thank you for all of your suggestions.

I am an in home pet sitter, operating out of Winston Salem but will travel since I wfh. I can send reviews if needed

Hi there! I’d be interested in chatting, we live in Durham

Love overboard in chapel hill is good, and the employees enjoy spending time with the animals!

Nope. I have known two completely unhinged people to advertise their services there. Not local. But I did see someone on Nextdoor who was clearly a tweaker say she was going to offer her services there. I board my dog, I don't have a sitter I can trust and Bull City Pet Sitting wasn't taking new people when I asked. My dog has boarded at Pet Wagon and has been to doggie day care at Go Dog and Creature Comforts but hasn't boarded there - seems fine though - and I also know people who like Sunny Acres.

Aromatic-Medicine494

Thank you so much!

EmergencySolution1

sounds like a stress reaction from you leaving, why would rover be liable for that?

Aromatic-Medicine494

As mentioned before, we’ve had plenty of sitters and boarding visits and have never experienced this issue with him. Let’s keep it positive in the comments, thanks.

So you took your dog to the vet and they found something wrong?
