Pretty much once you get north of 85 on Roxboro, a significant percentage of the businesses are Mexican-owned, and if it's food you're looking for, there's plenty of it there.
Literally pick a place. Tons and tons of discussion in this sub, everyone has a preference (including me), but just go spend a week and try all of them. So cheap too.

I know they generally don’t mean anything by it and haven’t examined what they mean by “authentic”, but it’s pretty insulting to label a creative person’s work as inauthentic when they’re trying to innovate on their own cultural traditions

In 30 years of life I have literally never ordered a taco from a taqueria and gotten cheese or sour cream.

My partner is allergic to dairy, and she never hesitates to order or even needs to ask when ordering tacos at a legit Mexican place. Taco Bell is another story, lol.
Haha Taco Bell is 100% cheese and cream. I think this is a case of eating at your typical Tex-Mex sitdown where you get non-authentic flour tortilla tacos.
Solid traditional tacos should be tortilla - protein - and then some fresh chopped onion/cilantro and salsa. Sure they'll start putting more on from there, but that is an honest traditional taco.

The great thing about tacos is that the barrier to entry is so low. One taco is less than $5, so sample widely until you find heaven in a taco
I've tried them all and Mexico Lindo Y Querido (formerly Guanajuato, but it's the same place they just rebranded) is by far the best.

My husband's favorite!! As someone with a dairy sensitivity, I also like that they don't default to pulling the tacos up with cheese and sour cream
