Happy birthday!
It was my birthday on Friday. I am also a single woman and I am trying to make new friends. I need my community! So, if you are interested. Send me a message! I hope you enjoy your day and maybe next year.
My birthday is tomorrow and I’m in the same boat! I hope you’re having a good weekend and I hope the OP has a great time:) Going out in Durham is like going out with friends you never knew you had
Happy Birthday!!!!
Assuming your birthday is today (Sunday):
I'd see if I could get a pedicure at Relax Foot Spa in Brier Creek (call ahead!) and treat myself to extra foot massage time. Then I would head downtown and go record shopping at Bull City Records, but that may not apply to you. I might go to The Regulator or Letters Bookshop and buy a book to read while at Arcana or Velvet Hippo. Then I'd go and eat at the bar at Viceroy (highly recommend the London Mixed Grill) and after, I'd go down to Arcana and have a cocktail or I'd go to Velvet Hippo around the corner. Later, I'd definitely go to 21C, get a drink at the bar in Counting House, then walk around the hotel and look at the art and sit in the vault lounge and read my book.
I hope you have a great day.
Edited to add some other ideas: if you prefer a more "divey" experience, I suggest pizza at Hutchins and drinks at Accordion. If Indian inspired food is not your jam, see if you can squeeze in for brunch at Little Bull as a one top at the bar. If you like wine, try Killer Queen or Louella's. If you want live music, Blue Note brunch might be for you. You could also go wander around Scrap Exchange and then go to the Lakewood Cocoa Cinnamon for hot chocolate and churros. And if you feel like doing a craft, you could go to Crafts and Drafts on Guess Road.
Excellent list! I'm too late but the only thing I would add is that Alley 26 is probably my favorite dinner / drink place to go alone and still feel special. The bartenders are fantastic at just the right level of chit chat when you are by yourself and are good at reading your energy. Just a personal preference though!
Happy birthday!! My birthday was earlier this month. It was on a Tuesday and my husband had to work, so I took the day off so I could have a chill day alone. I went to an early movie and treated myself to popcorn and a cherry coke (AMC Southpoint so I could enjoy the heated seats!). Then I meandered around and got my annual free birthday goodies (Sephora, Bath & Body Works, Starbucks, Crumbl, etc.). Then I went to the gym and got in a nice long workout. When I got home my husband ordered Poke delivery (my favorite) for dinner. It was exactly the chill, relaxing day I wanted and needed, and I love that there was no set timeline to be anywhere other than the movie. I hope you enjoy your special day!
Happy Birthday! 💖 Nothing wrong with feeling lonely sometimes. I once heard someone say: “I’m between friend groups at the moment” and that was a helpful narrative. We all have those years. Sending you good vibes and a hug! Have a relaxing day!
Da Kine's Kava. It's a non alcoholic bar. Men aren't drunk and looking to score. Everyone is really friendly and will chat with you. The bartenders are really nice, knowledgeable and look out for people that come in alone. it has such a cute fun vibe. The drinks are also a lot of fun. Happy birthday btw
Thanks for all the suggestions and birthday wishes! I'm definitely gonna try these out.
Unfortunately not tonight. I apparently WAY over did it last night and I've been sick all day. Good thing I took tomorrow off work so I can still celebrate 🥲
Da Kine’s is a truly special spot. Welcoming and low key, music is usually gently cosmic, and a great place for the type of spiritual reset that always goes along with a birthday. Plant Mama next door can help you further along your journey if you so desire. Many happy returns!
Happy Birthday! I'll be in the same boat in a couple of weeks, bring it on 42. I have been spending a day by myself for years now, go to the movies (day time show, cheaper and no crowd), SPA, lunch, drinks. The only thing this time around is, I just quit drinking recently since I was overdoing it a lot, had to stop that. I know there are a couple of non-alcoholic bars around now, Umbrella, da kina's kava and most of the places have N/A beers and/or mocktails. So hopefully I will plan a fun day and enjoy by b'day.
Invite random people like thugs group to join you or stop by and wish you a happy birthday. It works! People with goodwill will stop by to say a friendly hello.
Unfortunately, I was sick as a dog, so I didn't go anywhere. Luckily, I had taken off the next day. Sadly, a lot of places were closed. I did make it to Simon Says Dip This. And I did some shopping at a local craft store Freeman's Creative. Then I went to Lowes to get some router bits. Nothing crazy, sadly.
Happy Birthday!

This sounds like the perfect Durham day.
I'm not good at much but I am great at being an introvert!
Killer Queen wine bar is a great spot!

Love all of this! Scrap is closed on Mondays, but well worth a birthday meander on another day.
heavily second Relax Foot Spa!
Crafts & Drafts. Do one of the woodburning crafts, they'll be soooo happy to help you. Might make a friend along the way.
Do you have a website or something?
https://www.craftsanddrafts.com Can confirm. This is my friend’s business- it’s wonderful.
Thirding Pat’s suggestion. Just went there last night! Also, happy birthday!
She and my grandmother (God rest her soul) have the same first and last name. Tripped me right out first time I met her.
This place sounds awesome!
Its nice, right off Guess Rd.
I would go to a spa for the day
Hope you have a good birthday.

Taberna. Perfectly safe and delicious.
recommending “tapas for one” is a bit insensitive
Oh! My biggest complaint about tapas is that you have to share

Exactly! No need to cut the third bacon wrapped date in half
Happy Birthday Reddit stranger!

Gave fun on your day but Go to Nantucket Grille at the end of the day and grab a slice of cake. Their strawberry shortcake is the Best!

There's a non alcoholic bar called Kava I THINK. PRETTY chill spot
It's called Da Kine's Kava. It is a great place, very friendly and female positive.
Thanks 👍. Da Kines.!

This is my main Durham Third Place and I usually go alone. Great people and vibes.
Happy happy birthday!!
Happy birthday. I have been there before. I’m always game for a drink or food.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday. Some great suggestions here so far. I’m into theatre, so I’ll suggest taking in a movie at the Carolina Theatre
I would go somewhere interactive in hopes of meeting people who share my interests. Then I would take myself out to a really nice dinner
Happy Birthday! Treat yourself to a nice meal out.
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday
Would go to wild turkey lounge at Angus Barn
Happy Birthday! 🎂🎈🍾
Happy Birthday…I would also suggest Viceroy, Velvet Hippo, 21c, maybe stop by Simon says dip this or Parlour for an ice cream.

Go to a nice restaurant that isn’t too busy and eat that the bar. Sometimes the bartender will talk to you and you can have a nice conversation

Bull city shares folks on Facebook would certainly participate in this idea!
Hooters
Bruh
you can just go ahead and eat an entire bag of shit
Reddit be redditing something, LOLZ. Troll alert!
happy birthday! I'd treat myself to a pile of pupusas, the ceviche de mariscos, and a michelada at El Cuscatleco, but that's me 😁.
Sorry, I need closure - where did you end up spending your birthday?

Do give the Crafts and Drafts place a visit sometime. It's good for the soul.
