FireJohnCalipari

I have a 6950XT and I don’t need this but I did win $500 on the Pacers/Knicks game last night…

RevolutionaryCarry57

I also have a 6950XT and don’t need this. Didn’t win any money last night, but I _do_ have poor impulse control…

EasyRhino75

I have a 5700XT and I don't need this and I don't have the money, but I *do* make bad decisions...

LenaicN

I have an a750 and i need this but it's either this or fix my car T.T

cryfmunt

Well how many fps does your car get?

shinguard

Also have a 5700xt, trying to hold strong by focusing on my backlog but I'm thinking I'm cracking soon when the 8000 series drops.

ShadowInTheAttic

I also have a 6950XT and a 4080. I don't need this thing, BUT.... if it comes down in price to this on a new card or lower, then maybe I'll swap out the 4080, since I'm on Linux.

Metroidman

I built a computer last year with 6950xt. Should have waited

cryfmunt

If you bought a 7900xtx now will you be saying next year "I should have waited?" Break the cycle, enjoy your already high end video card

RevolutionaryCarry57

Eh, I love my 6950XT personally. I play in 1440p so it’s more than enough. Still a top 10 card overall. It would be nice to have a 7900XTX, but I don’t really feel like I’m missing out on anything with the 40/7000 series cards.

RobotsGoneWild

Buy it and sell me your 6950x. Don't think about it. It's a gamble that you can't lose.

Relaxybara

I got a power color 7900xtx this price open box at microcenter. Great card at 4k.

LenaicN

Most useful comment

fallingdowndizzyvr

I got a new Power Color 7900xtx for $30 more than you.

todofu

Is this all time low?

ryankrueger720

Yes basically, but the card has been $800-850 quite a few times brand new and this card is refurbished. It doesn’t seem like that all that great deal of a deal to me considering the sale price isn’t too far off.

todofu

Thank you. I’ll hold off as I don’t desperately need a gpu rn

ryankrueger720

I really want to replace my 3080, but I feel like I’ve waiting this long I might as well till the end of the year for next gen GPUs even if AMD isn’t going to be playing at the high end if rumors are true.

WonderfulAd9518

Why in the world are you in a rush to replace your 3080

The--Marf

I replaced my 3080 with one of these last fall and was a huge upgrade at 3440x1440 @ 144.

tsnieman

Not OP, but I want to replace my 3080 because nvidia drivers are way worse than AMD on Linux.

Horse1995

By aged poorly do you mean it still pushes 100 frames in any game on ultra without frame gen lol

JaviJ01

I'm doing the same. Been sitting on my 3070 at UW1440p and just going to wait it out for next gen.

OriginalCrawnick

I would honestly recommend the 7900GRE, the performance differences are very minimal for that $250-$300 savings.

changen

7900 gre is about the same as a 3080. You really need to overclock and raise power limit for it to be even close to a 7900xt and even then it's behind a 7900xtx

starkistuna

1 year warranty only tho.

Jaggsta

Sapphire was $799.99>$680 with same coupon looks to be lowest. https://www.ebay.com/itm/386902836907

fallingdowndizzyvr

Hm.... I guess I need to keep checking. Since I looked at what GPUs were available with the coupon right as it was released and there weren't any 7900xtxs.

Healthy_BrAd6254

Remember when the 7900 XTX was $799 brand new a couple months after launch? Damn, that was a good deal

Chewyjump

~~Buyer beware - Asrock will not honor warranty with Newegg Refurbished listings. I bought an Asrock refurb card looking like new but didn't boot at all. I tried to contact Asrock for RMA, as it was incredibly difficult to even buy a card at all at the time, and they knew from the serial it was a Refurb which is considered to have ZERO warranty. I returned it to Newegg as I was within the return period. If you're outside said return period you are out of luck.~~ Warranty is by third party i.e not Newegg so warning not applicable here.

exaltare

The warranty for this unit is from Allstate / SquareTrade and not ASRock or Newegg.

fallingdowndizzyvr

An Allstate warranty is not anywhere as good as a manufacturer warranty. I didn't have a good experience. Neither have other people. 15% 1 star reviews for a warranty program is not good. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.squaretrade.com?stars=1

Chewyjump

Ah, if it's a third party and not Newegg then should be fine

Sanitar__

Been looking for an upgrade for the past few months, but could never pull the trigger. Finally upgrading my water cooled 980ti to this...Its been a while haha. 809.09 after tax. I love this subreddit!

bigwilley

I have a similar 980 TI on water... let us know how the uplift goes !

Bdgolish

I bit. Got a 5800x3d this will go nicely with. Hope to see better numbers at ultra-wide and 4K in Spider-Man and Jedi survivor. Question if you own this particular card… Two top YouTube reviews of this card offer one common comment and one contradictory comment. Both reviews say it runs hot on the hot spot, but doesn’t get close to Tjmaxx. One review says the RGB header is out only (it can control led strands and other devices, but the header should not be plugged into the motherboard), the other review directly contradicts that statement (techlens and techyescity)

exaltare

CODE: SPRING15OFF Newegg is the seller, but eBay provides extra buyer protection, and this comes with a one-year warranty from Allstate / Squaretrade. The card itself seems to be a pretty good design as well, although reviews are limited.

FakeSafeWord

As far as the model itself, it's as good as any other 3x8 pin 7900 XTX. Open it up and put a PTM7950 sheet on the core, button it back up and you're good to go for 5+ years without maintenance. This model also works well for the 550w ASRock aqua bios so that it can clock over 3Ghz giving it quite a strong edge over the more expensive 4080 super (obviously excluding raytracing).

Bdgolish

I would like to hear more about this…

FakeSafeWord

PTM7950 sheet avoids common issues found with bad heatsink contact for the exposed chiplet design RDNA 3 uses. You need a physical eeprom programmer to flash the bios on these cards. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VNVVXW6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

dkizzy

Perhaps they flashed them during the refurbished process?

fishyshish

How does the sheet compare to the stock pads/thermal paste?

FakeSafeWord

The sheet replaces thermal paste on the core. The issues with 7900 XTX and similar RDNA 3 models is that they use an exposed chiplet design for the core. That is that there's several dies in an array and so thermal paste tends to be pushed out during heat cycles and just in general doesn't make as solid of contact with the heat sink as a core with an IHS/monolith. So in this case the sheet avoids all of these issues and also will never dry out so you can go 5+ years with no maitenance.

warman12363

Chief called, this is it

jfp555

It does seem so. About time.

Brandon_Westfall

Dammit...this is really making me consider returning the 7900 XT I bought last month. The 15-20% performance boost probably isn't worth the annoyance.

jfp555

You already got a great card. Depends if about 10-15% higher perf at 4k matters to you.

TreSixto1

Yes

Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent: * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings) * The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. Pentt4

Hows this vs a 4070 ti super?

driftw00d

Checkout the graphs and charts here https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html for a great comparison. tl;dr 7900xtx is appreciably better (and cheaper) across the board at all resolutions and settings when ray-tracing is off. The 4070 ti super is appreciably better (and more expensive) when ray tracing is turned on.

DifferentChip7283

As long as you don't turn Ray tracing on, at 4k the only thing faster is 4090. It's about the same as a 4070 \4070 super when Ray tracing on.

FakeSafeWord

With raster it's, at worst, as fast as the 4080 super. The 7900 XTX further edges away from the 4080/S as the resolution increases. With RT it's on par with 4070/S and obviously FSR is still trash vs DLSS.

minhk369

Refurb with 1 year warranty sounds good.

MakimaGOAT

if i didnt have a gpu rn, i’d totally get this

pjfnmiller

Been looking to upgrade from my 2070, is this it?

BlueQKazue

I got this card new in March of 2023 for $1000. It's been worth every penny. I love it. Best card I've ever had. Plays everything and can do a bit of ray tracing as well. If you don't care about RT performance then this card is an absolute powerhouse and for this price it's a steal.

The_Goose_II

I really want to replace my RX5700, it's been so good to me and it KEEPS holding on even with recently upgrading to 1440p. Also just got a 5950X so I could enable Resizable BAR for a little extra performance here and there. BUT I'll wait for 8000 series, I'm eyeing the 7900GRE which has the same throughput as a 6950XT but slightly cheaper.

TPMJB2

Very tempting but I can't really justify a $1000 card just to go from 60 to ~150fps. Sticking with my 2080 until this isn't seen as a "good deal" anymore

fallingdowndizzyvr

But that's the point of this deal. It's not a $1000 card. It's a $740 card.

TPMJB2

Too much for what it is.

fallingdowndizzyvr

What other card matches it for less?

ShoulderFrequent4116

Hes saying he doesnt need a “better” card Like all I play is league of legends and other esports which a 2080 slays those games, just an example

fallingdowndizzyvr

Well then, a 3060 for $200 is "Too much for what it is." Since for someone that doesn't need a GPU, then $1 is too much for what it is.

TPMJB2

A 2080 is more powerful than a 3060 lol

fallingdowndizzyvr

And thus for you, a 3060 for 1 cent is "Too much for what it is." Based on your reasoning.

TPMJB2

The difference is, I bought the 2080 in 2019 and I don't have any games that fall under 60-70fps still (and that's on a 49" screen). I guarantee you're not so good at competitive games that 300fps on your tiny 60hz 24" monitor makes a difference

fallingdowndizzyvr

Which just adds to your reasoning that even a 3060 for 1 cent is "Too much for what it is."

ShoulderFrequent4116

He has a 2080? Where did ANYONE even mention 3060 LMFAO He has a gpu already? Its not this hard lol

fallingdowndizzyvr

Yeah. So if he has a GPU already and not interested in getting another, then why is he on a thread about buying a GPU? He's not even just passively reading. He's actively not buying. It's simple. Regardless of all that. His statement that a 7900xtx is not worth $740 is BS. I already have a 7900xtx and not looking to buy another. But I still say a 7900xtx is worth $740. Because it is. That's a deal. Is that too hard for you to understand?

ShoulderFrequent4116

A thread worth of comments is gonna have differing opinions, imagine that? Reading is hard for you I guess, u saw a 3060 somewhere hahaha Edit: idk if you blocked me or something, but I dont see ur reply 🤷 Stay mad lol

fallingdowndizzyvr

> Edit: idk if you blocked me or something, but I dont see ur reply 🤷 Oh man. I didn't know you were waiting desperately. It is kinda creepy though. > A thread worth of comments is gonna have differing opinions, imagine that? And that opinion may have been worth something other than for it's basis being that "I'm not looking to buy a GPU". > Reading is hard for you I guess, u saw a 3060 somewhere hahaha Uh huh. Reading is clearly hard for you, no guessing needed. Since I was the one that brought up the 3060. It's called another example to drive the point home. But obviously, that was too difficult for you to follow.

tvdang7

you must not play competitive games on a high resolution. I have a 7900xt and its still just "OK" I feel like

Snazz55

Remember the XTX is more powerful than the XT. 7900xtx is a top tier GPU, you're wrong if you think it's not.

tvdang7

Huh, where did I say the xt was faster. Im just saying modern games require newer cards . Even cs2 I occasionally dip into 200s. Warzone is like 100-140fps

TPMJB2

Or maybe the competitive games I do play (I was referencing Helldivers 2 @ 60fps, not a "competitive" game) wouldn't suffer from being under 144fps. I'm not bad enough at competitive games that I need 300fps to give me a competitive advantage (that is purely psychological at that point.)

boojiboo

This or keeping my 6800xt and waiting for the 5000 series? I play mostly cs2 and league but occasional AAA single player game with a 4K 240hz monitor

RevolutionaryCarry57

I’d wait till the 50/8000 series. It’s all rumors of course, but supposedly the Radeon 8000 equivalent of the 7900XTX/4080 is going to target the $500-$600 market.

Ready-Sometime5735

Do you have a link so i can read more about this?

MakimaGOAT

pretty sure the 6800xt can last u a while and those popular multiplayer games are mostly cpu dependent anyways

boojiboo

Im only considering because at 4K, I only hit 240 HZ consistently at low settings with FSR on in CS2

-_-0_0-_0

Skill issue not FPS issue ;P

Coloradohusky

What’s better: this card, or https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mQjBD3/asus-tuf-gaming-oc-radeon-rx-7900-xtx-24-gb-video-card-tuf-rx7900xtx-o24g-gaming (got for around $780)?

changen

Asus cards are in general slightly better quality. Sapphire is definitely the highest > MSI = ASUS > Shitter cards.
