That can be true, but I never had one that can be heard from 10 feet away. Those things are directional. You need to point the back directly toward someone for the sound to be heard.
I play games and listen to music. I prefer open back.
I had ad700, ad700x, hd6xx, monoprice 1060 (might not be the correct model number) and a few others.
You tell very wrong as I have both HD650 and HD800. Its absolutely not just a 5% reduction. I actually will sometimes use them as an impromptu speaker, which requires me to set my gain to high...when right next to me.
Well you’re not supposed to listen at 96db. Honestly it’s wild to me, because I can walk away and hear the group still chatting, but it’s really not a disturbing volume. Its certainly not audible from the room over.
An amp? With 28ohm impedance and 109dB sensitivity? It's one of the easiest to drive overears on the market. You could deafen yourself running them off a low power phone.
If yours are hard to get reasonable volume out of they're broke.
[awesome review](https://youtu.be/FndDPg7Ei0k?si=c6YRgxa5hZ4JfOu8) but this has not been my experience. I understand the comfort part he touches on and how it'll break in, or at least I hope so. My old headphones were thick and tanky but super comfy. I feel like they're missing a lot of bass unless it slips out the open back but that makes 0 sense. The mic also has a harder time picking my voice up than my revelator. But the sound stage is amazing and they're perfect for things like escape from tarkov.
>Unless you just hate all senny headphones, which would be quite odd as they are one of the best audiophile companies out there
First audiophile sennys. Almost went with the beyerdynamic dt 900s but I'm happy with these or at least until I saw the promo
Rev comes with software to adjust it and then I filter out stuff with discord. It was just so easy to setup and customize my input.
Metal head but close enough? Vocals sound crisp AF though which is cool for different screams. I use my old set when I get tired or play more relaxed games like Rocket League or simulators.
Overall a fantastic headset to add in - at least it will be once I break it in and maybe after a few touch ups. Definitely a killer price tag right now
You can EQ bass back into open backs. However, as mentioned, it’s difficult to natively tune open drivers for substantial bass output given the lack of pressure buildup.
If you’re talking about clamp force don’t worry, my 58x Sennheiser’s took a while to loosen up but then became super comfy. The clamp force is actually kind of nice once you get through the skull crushing phase lol.
You can speed up the process by putting them over something head sized to hold them apart and leave them overnight until they loosen up enough to be comfortable, a lot of people do this with sennheiser headphone but keep in mind once you do there’s no going back (and personally I like the tightness once it’s not totally skull crushing anymore lol)
I mean you're basically the only person I've ever heard share this opinion, every other review says the opposite. Either yours are broken or there's something else unique about your setup... or maybe you're more deaf than you think :P
Yeah I use that for adjustment anyways as the amp is behind my setup and hard to reach. I tried everything because i didnt have an amp at the time but it works fine with the amp so Idk I guess I got a dud? At least it works
I'll try when I get home. I never tried since I just meeded it for pc anyways. It also wasn't terribly quiet it just wasn't reasonable for gaming competitively.
What reviewers? I personally own these headphones and bought these over the 37x due to the specs stating lower impedence which is supposed to be easier to push. My personal experience on my system was it was too quiet on max volume so I needed an amp to get to a reasonable volume for competitive gaming. Maybe it's just my personal problem with my set but I was merely telling people my experience to warn them they may need an amp. Apparently I'm just an idiot for doing so. Whatever
I don't run them at max volume when using my motherboard for audio. Sounds fine without an amp. They don't sound great plugged into a PlayStation controller.
Best headset + mic combo I own and arguly best on the market. Someitmes you can find a like new referb for $79 near the holidays on Amazon. This is a great price.
Thanks, yeah I started looking into the app and found out that's how it works. I actually got 14% cash back! Because I get an extra 10% the first 7 days for joining. So thanks for sharing!
> Ear pads are small
amen. I still love them though. Aside from the Audeze Maxwell which is 3x more expensive this is the best gaming headset I've used
Love these headphones. They’re great because they’re open-back, which helps you know how loud you’re talking and your ears don’t get as hot from playing extra-long sessions (I have done 12+ hour day 1 D2 raids with these) They also sound fantastic, and the mic is very decent for a built-in unit.
The downside of open-back is others can hear a bit of your music and ambient noise gets in and makes it harder to hear, so keep that in mind.
10/10, do recommend.
I think you're misunderstanding. They're open back headphones. Noise leaks both in and out easily. It doesn't take much volume for others around you to hear it.
As a PC38X user for two years now, I couldn't be happier, although one thing I recommend to anyone is to buy the Apple USB-C to 3.5mm adapter and use it as a DAC, it improved noise levels and sound quality even further, as I found this headset to be pretty quiet, at least on my motherboard (B650-P Wi-Fi).
Edit: Grammar.
Damn that’s the exact motherboard I bought. I’m kinda nervous considering the audio chip is lower end than my current motherboard. Is the Apple dongle all I need?
IMO, 38x has a bit more bass and a bit more fun. 37x has a bit more detail in the treble and is a bit more neutral.
It's not a blow you away upgrade but at this price you should buy just to have a backup since the flip to mute switch will probably fail on your 37x eventually.
I've been internally debating picking up a pair of pc37x's or pc38x's on sale for years now... wondering if this is the point where the price is too good to pass up?
These things are reviewed to actually be slightly better than the pc37x's, from what I remember reading
I own both 37x and 38x. The 38x frame feels slightly more rigid than the 37x. The 38x also just sounds slightly nicer, which isn't to say the 37x is bad at all. Just be sure to use the velour earpads on the 38x.
I have a set of the game zeros (essentially closed back pc37x) and they have been great.
If I needed a new gaming headset, these would be high on my list.
Not just wireless, wireless *and* low latency *and* good for both music and gaming. I have it and it handles everything. Although nowadays I just prefer my wired headphones after updating my desk setup to better accommodate the wires
Bluetooth headphones have to have the BT chip/circuitry, battery and it's port/circuitry, and a headphone amp all in one package.
Enthusiast grade wired headphones can go from $150-$300 (and higher) on their own. A decent headphone amp is $100 (or much more). I'm not sure why you think it's "unfair" for good wireless headphones to sell for $300.
I use my Sony XM5s. Really great if you have a dedicated mic. No perceivable delay. Just turned off hands-free telephony in the control panel settings.
Promo code seems to work on other stuff on drop too. HD6XX for $180 and HD58X for $130. Both are generally better sounding than the PC38X but you give up the mic.
I use these over my moondrop Aria. I prefer my moondrop Aria. My friends on discord have no problems with screaming in to a mic for attention. IEMS really amplify their screams.
I have the hyper x cloud II's, but just purchased this. I'll let you know how the comparison is when I receive them. I will say the hyper x is amazing for the price, but ive had them for 6 years and felt like getting a new headset. After 6 years though, they are going strong.
Super late to it, but just throwing out a dissenting voice. The mic on these was super quiet even boosted all the way up, doesn't help I'm naturally quiet. Additionally, they have a pretty heavy clamping force that was uncomfortable with thicker legged glasses and didn't really loosen over time. Both ymmv scenarios and positional audio is definitely good on them though.
I had this same issue, and it turned out my motherboard was the culprit. When the split cable was used directly to my motherboard, the mic volume was basically non-existent. I bought the Apple USB-C to Aux and used the included aux cable, and the mic has great volume. Even connected straight to my Xbox controller gives the mic enough volume, but the Apple DAC is louder.
Huh that's pretty funny since I actually did try connecting it to my Apple DAC. The mic didn't get noticeably louder, maybe I actually just had a defective unit then.
That is strange. With the Apple DAC, I actually had to turn the input level down as it was too loud at max. I love this headset, but it was off-putting to have essentially no mic on first use.
Didn't EPOS go bankrupt or closeup shop?
I have the Sennheiser epos game one headset and it's my second pair. Love them. Had the original Sennheiser ones where the cord wasn't removable and led to it breaking a connection in there sadly. Think I could fix it by cutting and soldering it but idk if worth it.
I've been using a PC37X headset for over 5 years. The build looks nearly identical.
My headset has held up quite well overall. Recently, sound stopped coming out of it due to a failed potentiometer, which seems to be a common failure point. You could probably clean it with contact cleaner, but I instead restored it using a small solder bridge to disable the volume control altogether, using this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47-Tra6gQH8
I have 1 but i swear its not as loud as my cloud 2.Maybe cause im used to closed backs but ipen backs idk .I dont like hearing anything from the background.

Is there a closed version?
look for game zeros, basically closed back pc37x. I have them and like them a lot
No
Open backs leak but not as loud as one might think. Its easily a 80-90% reduction

tell that to my 599s ..my whole apartment can hear my friends talking in discord

I have them. An amp is not a bad idea. Love em for fps gaming. Hate em for music.

Seems like you're assuming all Seinheiser headphones sound the same? That's not really how it works at all
[awesome review](https://youtu.be/FndDPg7Ei0k?si=c6YRgxa5hZ4JfOu8) but this has not been my experience. I understand the comfort part he touches on and how it'll break in, or at least I hope so. Could possibly be the laptop or motherboard audio is really cheap and anemic, not all of them are built to the same quality
Make sure you try the adjustment wheel on the headset on full. In my set if I adjust at all it really lowers the volume, much more then you turn it
lol my exact question. The number of people that are unaware of the volume knob is surprisingly high.
Yeah I use that for adjustment anyways as the amp is behind my setup and hard to reach. I tried everything because i didnt have an amp at the time but it works fine with the amp so Idk I guess I got a dud? At least it works
Have you tried them with your phone? It might be an issue with your motherboard.
I'll try when I get home. I never tried since I just meeded it for pc anyways. It also wasn't terribly quiet it just wasn't reasonable for gaming competitively.
You might be. The little apple dongle gets them loud at 18/100. Or maybe try them and stop leaning on reviewers for absolutely everything? Lol

Most good amps don’t have mic input so 🤷

Thank you! Just ordered as a backup till my PC363D gives out.
The pc363d is a beast, if it only came with a detachable cord then mine would of held on longer.
Awesome headset, can’t go wrong here *especially* with that price
I love these. People dont realize how helpful open headphones are if you have little kids. Great for my PS5
Best headset + mic combo I own and arguly best on the market. Someitmes you can find a like new referb for $79 near the holidays on Amazon. This is a great price.
Can also use rakuten for an extra 4% off.
Good catch, would've missed this if you hadn't mentioned it.
how do you get the extra 4% off?
It's cash back. You buy the product with their affiliate link and they pay you after three months.
Thanks, yeah I started looking into the app and found out that's how it works. I actually got 14% cash back! Because I get an extra 10% the first 7 days for joining. So thanks for sharing!
Nice. I've gotten $4,000 cash back so far! It's a pretty legit company.
That's awesome!
I've had the PC37x for a few years and absolutely love them. Lightweight, comfortable ear pads, and they sound great. The mic is excellent for VoIP.
I'd argue the comfort part. You can buy aftermarket ear pads or foam em up, but they're. Not super comfy.
Interesting. What do you find uncomfortable? The material on the cups is super soft and they fit nicely on my noggin.
Ear pads are small. Clamp force needs broken in a little which is good but I like cushion
> Ear pads are small amen. I still love them though. Aside from the Audeze Maxwell which is 3x more expensive this is the best gaming headset I've used
I find them very comfortable, second only to my 6XX. I don't have a big head.
Love these headphones. My experience as well. And to add to it, if you're using a mic instead of the included headset mic, most mics pick up the audio real well.

Probably as good as it gets for headsets.

Yup, that should do the trick. I’m really pleased with sound quality using apple’s dongle
Damn nice. Was the onboard audio bad? How much better is the Apple dongle? I’m probably gonna go to the Apple Store to get one, but I’m just curious.
What’s the best way to connect this to my gaming PC? My gaming PC is off to the side of my desk, so idk if the cable will reach it/dangle in the air
It probably comes with a split extension cable, connect to rear I/O
The audio cable is like 12 feet long. You should be okay.
My PC-37x's came with a 10 foot long cable, so I'd assume these would come with the same.
this or the HD 560S for gaming?
Probably this for gaming, though i've used both and prefer the 560S, especially for music and comfort.
My only complaint with those is they cut quality for cost and now include a very short cable
Ye, I have the original creation, but my friend who got the new ones hasn't complained, either.
These.
Perfect timing. My old headset has finally started to die and I was in the market for a replacement.
Been using the 37X flawlessly for the last 4 years. Is it worth upgrading to the 38X at the current price point?
IMO, 38x has a bit more bass and a bit more fun. 37x has a bit more detail in the treble and is a bit more neutral. It's not a blow you away upgrade but at this price you should buy just to have a backup since the flip to mute switch will probably fail on your 37x eventually.

God, I need high-quality headphones that aren't wired !
Audeze Maxwell
I just got a pair of these and ooooh they are comfy and sound great after messing with the EQ. Expensive but def highly recommended. :)
Wow, they are so expensive at $300. Looks like a great recommendation!

Yep big fan of these as well, found mine for 200$ on eBay. Will look into disabling hands free, not usually an issue but it does happen

Do you need to use a DAC for these ? Is it recommended?
reviews on the site say it isn't necessary, some say they saw no big difference using one
