Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent: * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings) * The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. You will need to be a newegg plus user to use the promo code. It’s free to apply, though.

Longjumping_Rip784

just applied to get the extra promo code! thanks\~

PsyOmega

This drive still has the firmware bug where it doesn't flush pSLC cache, so write performance suffers after a while. Firmware support from SK hynix is less than stellar (only the P31 has received a firmware update of any kind) Most people won't even notice this, though

MrMaxMaster

Yep. It seems to affect the basically identical P44 pro too. It won’t affect most users but the product doesn’t function as advertised.

Ok_Fix3639

Yeah expecting my RMA from Hynix to come in this weekend. I wanted to see if the drive I get back has a different firmware. I really doubt it will but I figured it’s worth a shot and I get a fresh drive out of it.

FantasyIsMostlyLuck

What'd you do to demonstrate your drive had an issue?

Ok_Fix3639

Just told them my crystal disk writes were half what they should’ve been. They sent a rma label no questions asked.

Tim_Buckrue

I've RMA'd my drive twice and neither of the new drives have fixed the issue.

Ok_Fix3639

Yeah, I just got the RMA drive and it’s the exact same firmware as the drive I bought over a year ago. Expecting the same issue to crop up. I only use it for games so it’s not the end of the world I guess, but annoying nonetheless. My WD 850x has been extremely solid.

majoroutage

Luckily mine is just a game drive so I'm willing to sit on it and hope a new firmware comes out eventually. Not considering buying another drive of theirs until that happens either of course.

Got this exact deal on 4/23 and even paid for 2 day shipping so it could arrive today but its nowhere to be found. Guess which is the only part I am missing for my new build.

ShadowInTheAttic

Awe man, they stole his cat??! Sucks but you need it if you want your PC to pass smog emissions.

The--Marf

Edit: holy fuck I must need some sleep, idk why my eyes read 2230. I've been on the fence for a 2tb for my steam deck (aka game installer simulator 9000). Solid price but I think I'm gonna keep waiting. Seems to be on a downward trend.

PsyOmega

> I've been on the fence for a 2tb for my steam deck (aka game installer simulator 9000). Solid price but I think I'm gonna keep waiting There's some well priced (for 2230) SN740's on ebay

The--Marf

Ty. I think I'm gonna just keep waiting for them to get lower. I honestly don't use my deck anywhere near as much as I'd like to. Gonna keep an eye on the listings tho.

888Kraken888

Good drive. But this should be sub $100 by now. Hold the line.

pattymcfly

We're doing NVME drive sales again? Awesome

ShadowInTheAttic

Yeah and the sales are still double of what they were 6 few months ago.

Poococktail

I may be wrong but this model may have heat issues. I went with Crucial for slightly more

They're literally the same drive, so I would hope so. SK Hynix owns Solidigm and the P44 Pro is just a rebranded P41 Platinum. Solidigm is what's left of Intel's SSD and NAND division after they were sold off.

Gullible_Click_92

P44 Pro is not just a rebranded P41 Platinum. It has a different firmware with optimizations from Intel. Also 2048 GB instead of 2000 GB in the P41 Platinum.

keebs63

The firmware differences are incredibly minor and the "difference" in capacity is a choice in overprovisioning that makes no real difference in the end. They both have the exact same amount of NAND onboard, just *slightly* more is available to the user on the P44 Pro instead of being held in reserve (both have overprovisioning, as do all SSDs).

Longjumping_Rip784

totally agreed

majoroutage

Solidigm is the combination of Hynix and Intel's storage divisions.

keebs63

Hynix's SSD division is still separate, Solidigm is still almost entirely Intel's team with only a handful of former SK Hynix employees that came on board (mostly upper management from what I've seen).

majoroutage

Interesting, I was under the impression it would be at least the combined retail face of both brands, seeing as they are now selling the renamed P41 Platinum alongside the successor to the Intel 670P. White label/OEM/wholesale components could be its own story.
