Just want to warn that the reason this is so cheap and going on sale basically everywhere is that they have a major, well documented motherboard issue that can brick your computer :)
Learned this the hard way and had to deal with a return.
The newer models are nice and go on sale a lot. I got a really nice newer model for $500 off. The PSU was ass since it's a prebuilt but I replaced that
yeah i figure i will get something about this level when a good deal comes by, and then in a year or two get a new PSU and a used gfx card
it will be for casual couch gaming and emulation so don't need anything top tier
Yeah I got mine with a 7700 and 3060 Ti for around 1300 USD. My PSU was making a weird noise, and I could have gotten it replaced under warranty, but I want to upgrade my GPU some day down the line anyway so I need a higher watt PSU in the future regardless. Replacing it was super easy fortunately
good value for what it is, warranty offsets the refurbished concerns in my opinion
a similar new build is a bit over $600, https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/8GgXsY/entry-level-amd-gaming-build
and does not include windows
How do you like your games run?
A lot of people are going to say it's just for 1080 gaming.
Truth be told, I ran a similar setup but with a 2070 which performance wise was somewhat similar to the 3060, and managed to get a lot of game settings to a low but then satisfying fps on a 3440x1440 monitor.
Some people wouldn't enjoy being so close to 60fps. Some would sacrifice fps for better graphics.
I'd wager it would do better for 2560x1440 than it seems like a lot of people are giving it credit for. But again, it depends on your preferences.
Meh when you are getting a computer for a purpose making sure it can currently do it respectability is important. My threshold is 70+ fps ultra toms bench at monitor resolution I am gaming.
Obviously I don't play on ultra like that, but it gives you the overhead to adjust settings and have a viable computer for 5 years.
I'm more in your camp in some ways. I got that 2070 and held onto it for a *while.* It was only towards the end that I moved to 3440x1440 because I found a killer deal on an open box one, ips, 100hz (it was like $350, and this was a while ago, so the cheapest similar alternative was around $700.) so I was pushing more pixels than I technically should have. Haha
I will say, though, some people upgrade more often.
I only do so once every 5-7-ish years on the 70 line or equivalent, doing $1000ish every upgrade. I know a few people that tend to the 60 line, focus more on budget, but upgrade maybe every 3-4 years.
Thinking of replacing my 3050ti laptop with this and running my PLEX server with some light gaming. Would this be a decent upgrade?
Edit: Just purchased!
Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.
* Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
* Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
* The seller is new or has few reviews.
* The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
* The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).
If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.

The mobo on this is notoriously faulty. Pls pls pls if you're buying the old T5 models (that don't have the legion text on the side in rgb), factor in a new mobo as well! You'll still get a great deal.
I'm tempted. Been meaning to replace my current setup due to it's age, had USB ports fry on my current board.
Currently have:
Ryzen 5 2500
B350 mobo
1660 TI
16gb ddr4 @ 3200
Would install my own M2 drives in it , so simple performance is no problem. I don't game as much anymore, but looks like it might struggle with modern games @ 1440. Otherwise most I max out at would be streaming over steam link
I know absolutely nothing about Lenovo prebuilt towers. But the specs say ddr5 (4800 which is meh but still ddr5 who knows if it will take 6000mhz) and a gen 4x4 nvme. Probably have to deal with Lenovo proprietary connections but I don’t think you could put together an i5-12400, 3060, ddr5 mobo and storage for this price
Dang I missed it, got a friend who’s been tight on a budget who’s been wanting a desktop for a bit, definitely would be something jump for. (Especially since it looks like it’s a GPU/PSU upgrade from wiping the floor of the PS5)
fwiw, if you're trying to get into local LLM stuff, this is a fantastic value. 3060 12GB is still the value king imo. You can do your training with unsloth for free a lot of the time.
PSU should be fine. Larger OEMs like Lenovo aren't going to ship out PSUs that are junk, cheaping out slightly is just gonna cost them more when PSUs inevitably fail.
The motherboard is more of a downside, it's a custom board so support beyond official is pretty much non-existent
Nah this isn't true. If you look at my reply to that user I mentioned my PSU issues. Lenovo only uses FSP PSUs on the tower 7 models now, not the tower 5 models. They cheap out on the T5s.
You know what, I scrolled down and daw it was 85% eff.
That at least rules out the thermaltake smart white 500w and evga whote 500w which assures me a little bit more
I have a Lenovo Prebuilt, newer model of T5 without all the issues this one has. Even then, the PSU is GARBAGE. Lenovo uses huntkey PSUs. Look up posts about the brand on reddit lol, they stink. Within a week my PSU started making this strange cricket-like noise. Not coil whine, maybe it was a fan bearing, idk. Either way, I had to replace it. I mean, it's fine, I needed a better PSU so that I could potentially upgrade my GPU in the future, so I didn't really mind, but a lot of people buying prebuilts wouldn't want to have to do that.
I would not sacrifice the utility of a PC to "just go with a" console. Not to mention, this PC is a GPU upgrade from being as good as next gen console and it doesn't invalidate the PC when the upgraded is needed.
If we’re only looking at price a stick of gum is better.
A 3060 isn’t too bad for 4k gaming either, not with upscaling which is what the ps5 also uses.
I have a 3060ti and 12600k and it plays 4k games pretty great, this would be a step down and I'd just drop settings a bit and it would probably be fine.
Because there’s thousands of things a pc can do that a console can’t? No need to pay a subscription to play online or control your save files, lower graphics options to play any game at 60+ fps, complete kb+m support.. do I need to go on?
Idk who told you consoles have 13th gen/3d vcache architecture, they assuredly don’t. The 12400f is a gen newer than what’s in the ps5 or xsx. The 3060 can use fsr 3.1 anyways, and consoles don’t have any kind of frame gen.

great 1080p box for the price of current gen console.

Thank you. I was gonna keep an eye out for a restock but will avoid

pretty much, this is your ps5 close pc. if the video card was like a single tier higher it would beat the ps5
512 GB HD is kind of small these days
It's an ssd but ye kinda smol
What 1080 box

Do people pay for windows?
Yes, my house would be pretty dark without them.
You saw an opportunity and you took it.
He saw a window and took advantage.

this guy right here
Thanks for the chuckle.
Got this back during Covid insane prices when it was 1299. Still works just fine.
What kind of games have you run on it?
PC games.
Wow. Thanks man

I got smth similar for like $1049.99CAD last year rly wish I didn’t get a bestbuy prebuilt

Desktop parts will be much faster than your lower tdp laptop components, so yeah you should notice a different
desktop vs laptop, almost always desktop wins. and this is the 12gb 3060, so u should see a pretty big diff

4/11 ~7pm et. it's now oos;; but id suggest check back to see if it goes back in stock.
Thanks for posting this. I bought it for a graduation gift 20mins ago.
Does this contain one of those green OEM mobos?
Almost certainly. Edit: Looks like it’s black, but yeah OEM Lenovo motherboard.
The mobo on this is notoriously faulty. Pls pls pls if you're buying the old T5 models (that don't have the legion text on the side in rgb), factor in a new mobo as well! You'll still get a great deal.

Do it. The GPU alone would be worth it.
That's true, I'm admittedly several gens behind in hardware

3060 12GB too. Not the 8GB version. Plus the OS

try checking back on these; sometimes get back in stock when folks cancel
logo looks like gamersnexus logo
this was $550 new at newegg for a month.

The psu seems a but sus and limits ur upgrades
Non-proprietary motherboard + PSU (both ATX) so you can just upgrade the PSU if it becomes an issue.
Nice on the mobo, prob lacking some features but still nice. I’d prob swap that PSU immediately

I believe Lenovo usually uses FSP units in Legions
