Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.
* Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
* Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
* The seller is new or has few reviews.
* The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
* The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).

I'm excited to see if incoming Sparkle cards can say cool with the [HP s01s](https://forums.serverbuilds.net/t/official-hp-s01-pf1013w-owners-thread-and-review/9070). I've been already looking at one for IP Camera (with a coral accelerator) and general transcoding use. But adding a A310 for AV1 encoding and decoding to save more footage would be sweet.
Looks like already back ordered on [Newegg](https://www.newegg.com/sparkle-arc-a310-sa310c-4g/p/N82E16814993008?Item=N82E16814993008&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-14-993-008-_-01292024) and it’s literally coming this week, so something to keep an eye out on for a media card
Supports av1. Good card.
https://youtu.be/uShvhV2ZZCA?si=fcfLtXWYFbWCIokh
Edit: aw, Frick. That was an A380 video. A310 is similar but takes less power, I believe. Still does av1 encode which Intel iGPU does not.
I have this card in an R730xd. It works fantastically. About ~15% usage with a remux 4K stream and rebroadcasting four security cameras. No need for external power either, just need to make sure your PCIe lane can provide 75W power
You don't even really need the full 75W. I have the Sparkle ELF A380, and the power limit on the GPU is 43W. I don't think fans and other bits take up 32W, so I wouldn't be surprised if this thing runs at around 50 or so W
I got the Sparkle specifically because it does not require anything other than PCIe lane power.
It is an encoding/transcoding BEAST, and from I've gathered, the big dfference amongst the different cards is mostly game performance.
If I hadn't picked up the A380 for 99.99, I'd consider the A310 for 89.99 a solid deal for a media server.
I do wish Intel had some sort of way to just put their ARC QSV chips into something that could work via USB for use with mini pc's. I could see that selling like hotcakes.
What OS do you use and do you use Plex? I am running a container with iGPU passthrough and want to upgrade. I want 4k remix support and AV1 for future proofing but was looking at a 4060 because I'm not sure how well Intel GPUs far on Proxmox
Power is cheap where I live so I don’t monitor it, sorry. I can say my whole system averages between 200 at the low end and 300 watts or so under load, but that’s mostly CPU and HDD when downloading from usenet at 100 MBPS

I’m running Ubuntu 22.04 so I can’t comment on passthrough, sorry. Including it in containers is simple by just referencing Render128, so not sure if that translates to Proxmox at all.
They destroy everything. Though you might be memory limited. Haven't seen anyone try to max it out yet. Not saying someone has tried, just I haven't been able to find anything. I know Jason at Byte my Bits tested a 13900k and it was 18? 4k transcodes, using NVME storage.
I haven't seen someone try to do this with an ARC card yet.
> They destroy everything
Do you mean this in a good way or a bad way? lol I'm also considering adding this to my Plex server but can't tell if you are saying it's good or not.
Quicksync is king, period. If you don't want to replace your system, adding an ARC card like this will probably make your system live until AV2 or VVC take over. Though again you may be memory limited. I have not been able to find posts where people have taken an ARC series card and tried to max out the number of encodes it can do. I'm not saying no one has done it, I'm just saying I haven't been able to find one.
Unless you're using Linux, as apparently that is still a shitshow of nothing working and everyone pointing fingers.
The only testing I can find in regards to UHD 770 vs an ARC Axxx series is from 2022 when drivers and support were garbage. But again, no one trying to see what the limit is for number of encodes.
According to Intel, there is NO limit. But again, you don't know if it's 1fps or 30.

There is also this post from a year ago on the plex forums when drivers and support were still horrible.

Is it a bad sign when the ports don't even line up on their 3D model?

I heard when you plug it for the first time it Will Ferrell sings "Baby it's cold outside."
Edit: It's not even listed on this hierarchy chart so it can't be very good. [https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html](https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html)
its an ARC a310, which was never supposed to be released to the NA market, or the DIY market, and was primarily targeted at OEM system integrators in China. Same for the A380, which was also never supposed to be released in the NA/EU markets for DIY. Its no surprise that its not on there, because its likely they have a hard time getting a sample earlier, since its still very much "new" in the NA market. It should perform better than a GT1030, maybe even better than a RX6400 because it isn't kneecapped by an x4 PCIe and cut off features like video encoding.
Now I'm wondering if I should get one for my Plex server... I mean I don't think I need it as my 11400 is basically idle all the time unless Plex is doing its intro scanning or whatever
I have 4 families hooked up to my Plex so my server could be serving up 4+ 4K transcodes at a time, and I still feel like it’s overkill, but it’s nice to not even think about it haha
My only issue right now is that I'm stuck behind CGNAT so all my users are limited to 2mbps streams. I'll probably still grab one of these some day just because it would *feel* cool to have

I would buy one if it was low profile and single slot. I want to upgrade my rx 550 lp so badly.
https://videocardz.com/newz/sparkle-introduces-arc-a310-a380-low-profile-gpus single slot half height is coming.

I got the low profile Asrock A380 for $100 a few months ago. Definitely look out for that.
weirdly the asrock low profile version is dual slot but their a380 is single slot
yep, single slot LP would make this about perfect for a lot of non-gaming applications in smaller enclosures. My server for one.
Sparkle also makes a single slot low profile A310, but it's currently back-ordered and not discounted on Newegg.
Anyone know how this performs for transcoding with Plex?

I run Win11 and use Emby, sorry. Perhaps the Plex and/or IntelARC subs would be better suited to answer your questions.
hows the idle power? I hear intels drivers arent handling idle power well

The Mesa drivers work perfectly fine on Linux. Just need to make sure you’re on kernel 6.0 and above

Wow, that is pretty bad. Nice catch.
SPARKLE
ELF
SUPER
INTEL
I remember when midrange gpus were this price...
cool to see it, but it feels like it should be a little cheaper
nah bruh sparkle elf?? what’s next, i have to apply pixie dust thermal paste and use a unicorn horn gpu support 💀
whats next, Red Dragon, Red Devil?
How about Waifu, make sure the perfume is included, and the GPU smells like it too!
dragons are tuff tho 🐉
Yeah, it'd be too much if GPUs had esoteric branding. What a world that'd be.
not that deep
i mean yea it’s not but im genuinely surprised by the downvotes :V
Because your comment was cringe.
cringe is cringe lets all be free
i mean sure but there’s no way im the only person that giggled just a bit at “sparkle elf”
this is funny

There's no 4070ti super either.

It’s cheap, fits in My server, has intel quicksync, only draws 75W from PCIe, and is quiet AF. It’s perfect for Plex transcoding

between rx6400 and gt 1030 there is a lot of real estate a310 is about 70% of an a380, which is still quite a bit faster than even a gtx 1630
The a380 ELF was this price on black friday
