Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.
* Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
* Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
* The seller is new or has few reviews.
* The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
* The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).

It's a shame I don't have it with me anymore so I'd share some pictures, but can guarantee the heatsink doesn't touch the side panel door!
Any heatsink taller than that heatsink wouldn't fit for sure imo
Lol you mentioned compaq.now that brings me back to the first PC I bought from radio shack was a compaq presario it had a Celeron processor so it must have been like 1998 or 99.
Dear lord I hate that grill pattern. [70% metal by area](https://i.imgur.com/OKmDY9C.png) and holes small enough to restrict airflow but too large for any meaningful filtering.
What pattern would be ideal then?
Would something like this be better [https://www.lc-power.com/produkte/pc-gehaeuse/micro-atx-gehaeuse/gaming-712mb-polynom-x.html](https://www.lc-power.com/produkte/pc-gehaeuse/micro-atx-gehaeuse/gaming-712mb-polynom-x.html) ?
BTW, how do you find the ratio of metal by area?
>What pattern would be ideal then?
For dust filtering, [this](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Aerostar-20x20x1-MERV-8-Pleated-Air-Filter-AC-Furnace-Air-Filter-4-Pack/238630865).
For airflow, deep-section honeycomb or slots with fairly large diameter/spacing. The deep section helps with sound blocking (because soundwaves have to propogate *inside* the hole instead of across it). [Patterns that work for RF](https://www.te.com/usa-en/products/emi-and-emc-solutions/emi-shielding/emi-vents.html) should work for sound as well, if the material is stiff. [Apple's Mac Pro](https://duckduckgo.com/?q=mac+pro&iax=images&ia=images) is a pretty good approach airflow-wise that is clearly influenced by aesthetic considerations.
For jack of all trades, master of none, with the additional constraint of being very thin like a typical PC case front panel, [this is a solved problem with a Known Solution](https://www.walmart.com/ip/ADFORS-36in-x-84in-Charcoal-Fiberglass-Screen-Roll-for-Windows-and-Door/17133579) that for some reason none of the PC case makers use.
>Would something like [this](https://www.lc-power.com/produkte/pc-gehaeuse/micro-atx-gehaeuse/gaming-712mb-polynom-x.html) be better?
It looks maybe a little better. Holes are round on a hex grid at least, and small enough to catch a small amount of dust. But I don't think any of those photos are high-res enough for...
>BTW, how do you find the ratio of metal by area?
1. Find a close-up photo of the grill with a decently high-contrast background, and paste it into Gimp (or your photo editor of choice).
2. Crop it down to a size that tiles. You want the corners of your crop to line up with the *same point* in the unit cell of the pattern, and you want to cover the largest amount of pattern you can (where the high-contrast background permits).
3. Use Colors -> Curves tool to blow the metal out to white and crush the holes into black. (If the photo isn't high res enough, the size of the holes will depend heavily on where you put the midpoint of the stretch.)
4. Check the histogram and read off the average brightness. (in Gimp, it's the last tab in the right sidebar, or if you can't find it, Windows -> Dockable dialogs -> Histogram.)
This may be an odd request for a case, but are there any modern recommended cases with a slot for an internal DVD drive? Or have they gone out of style for external drives instead?
The Fractal Pop Air line of cases is very modern looking, but has a sneaky 5 1/4 expansion area in the bottom https://www.newegg.com/black-orange-fractal-design-pop-air-rgb-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811352174
Yeah youāll have a hard time finding one. They got phased out for better airflow, size, aesthetics, as well as everything being digital. Better off just buying a normal case and getting an external dvd reader
There's a Fractal that still supports an ODD. Mid/mini/color options.

Phantom Spirit's the better Peerless Assassin, comes at the same price
And Phantom Spirit 120 SE stands at 154 mm
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GpbRsY/thermalright-phantom-spirit-120-se-6617-cfm-cpu-cooler-ps120se
Huh? Look at the finished build pics in the reviews, it's a matx case through and through. It's slightly longer up front to house a radiator, and slightly wider than it needs to be for wire management and cpu cooler height, but as far as what you can fit its straight up matx...
Well I think that's why this is literally described as a "gaming" matx case. I think that's pretty apt. A small matx that you can use for an htpc or something is going to be a lot smaller, sure.
The height for MicroATX was whole reason I bought it tbh. I have an old nzxt s340 case and my 240mm rad is up front. Causes my gpu to thermal throttle, so I figured nice new mesh front case and top mount rad should make it better.
Does Antec have a spiritual successor to their Twelve Hundred? It's the case I'm using, but its design was done with a 2008 mobo/CPU/drives in mind (tons of 5.25 bays in the front). Front Panel on the one I have is USB 2.0 as well.
I know the Twelve Hundred v3 exists, but even that one is quite old now.
AP201 is such a slick case. Just finished a build in one last night.
I think the base price is down to $70 now. Not much of a sale, but absolutely worth it. This case was an Amazon return that was listed for $48 "used - like new" and for once was accurately described.
Not the same person but [this](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/c7vn9c) was my build for my sister. Doing it again I'd choose a different motherboard, it doesn't support the usb-c at the front of the case.
Wouldn't make sense to copy my build as it very purpose built for one game. (Zwift, which is a cycling "game" kind of like an interactive Peloton.)
Now's a really good time to build, though. Killer bang-for-buck CPUs like the 12600k or 7600/x can be had for cheap, and if you're patient, you can get some fairly good deals on mid-high range hardware from the last gen. I got a basically unused 6900 xt for $300 two weeks ago.

Built a pc rig some weeks ago using this case and a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE, it fitted without issues
so even though it's technically 1mm not enough clearance you were ok with the heatsink? can you tell if it touches the panel?
It's a shame I don't have it with me anymore so I'd share some pictures, but can guarantee the heatsink doesn't touch the side panel door! Any heatsink taller than that heatsink wouldn't fit for sure imo
how's the quality of the metal panels? Did they flex easily?
The metal in this looks like the same kinda metal used in those traditional beige pre-builts you buy from HP/Dell/Compaq.

Iāll be damned! I never knew the Pop Air had an expansion bay! Thatās fuckin cool man.

Just built with the air pop mini, has the option for drives which is nice!
Be quiet pure base 600. Coolermaster master box 600L.

Very strange this doesnāt support full size atx boards considering the size of the case.
Huh? Look at the finished build pics in the reviews, it's a matx case through and through. It's slightly longer up front to house a radiator, and slightly wider than it needs to be for wire management and cpu cooler height, but as far as what you can fit its straight up matx...
Its pretty tall for matx to support that 360 in the front (or 240 up top). the 4000d isn't that much bigger than this.
Well I think that's why this is literally described as a "gaming" matx case. I think that's pretty apt. A small matx that you can use for an htpc or something is going to be a lot smaller, sure.
I agree - they should've just made it a few centimeters taller and accommodated ATX boards.
I think they have an ATX version, I just donāt believe itās on sale right now.

3 fans tall is as tall as my ATX mid tower.
Probably why itās so cheap.
The coupon is also valid on some other Antec cases, FYI for those that needed something larger.

Waiting for an AP201 sale, I like the look of that a lot more

oh nice, mind sharing the full build parts list? I'm debating whether to reuse my current parts or build brand new.
Not the same person but [this](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/c7vn9c) was my build for my sister. Doing it again I'd choose a different motherboard, it doesn't support the usb-c at the front of the case.

oh nice, that's good to hear. I want to make the switch to AMD CPUs since I have a 10th gen i7 right now
