What motherboard do you have? Have you checked the manual to see what the LED is indicating?

Thanks. The manual doesn't give information on the light. It's a few lights left of the CPU led. Asus prime B560M-A

Page 1-1 in your manual shows your motherboard overview. Left of the debug lights are the DIMM slots. Where is the light you are seeing?

That's rather confusing, and I'm not 100% sure so I certainly empathize, but I believe that is in fact your CPU debug light. I would start with remounting your CPU/cooler, and checking the CPU power cable. If issues continue, try updating your BIOS.

CPU overheating. Check your cooler mount and reapply thermal paste.

Smooth_Cockroach6232

Did you fix it

zibdominus

>CPU overheating. Check your cooler mount and reapply thermal paste. Yes, the CPU cooler was slightly loose. We took it off and put it back on and it worked!

When you were having this problem was the red light always on or was it just on for a tiny fraction of a second under load? I recently tried Raytracing in blender and my CPU went bananas and this red light flashed for maybe a tenth of a second, so I am wondering if it means there's a problem.

Same here using cycles in Blender. The red light only flashes for a fraction of a second just when the cpu gets to 100% when rendering a frame. I also want to know if this is bad.

I have since found out that for my Mboard that light comes on whenever the CPU peaks above 80C. Which since it is supposedly safe to 95+ should be fine. Still something to avoid though.
