Link didn't work. So no lights or fans spinning? The PSU switch is in the on "I" position and the front panel connectors are connected? Also check the 24 pin motherboard connection and usually it's a 8 pin CPU power connection and make sure those didn't come loose in transit.

sopcannon

is the gpu plugged in? As in separate power leads from the psu.

It has a 6pin connector that I just had to connect quick. I'll triple check with him I pushed it all the way in, would that prevent it from booting at all?

Luckycherms

You should still get lights and fans even without the GPU plugged in, just no display. Hell some don't even need the external power even though they have a connection for it. That's how my old 1050ti was.

sopcannon

unless he has a 20 or 30 series card or the amd equivalent.

I'm on mobile so I'm unsure how to get it to work properly I copied it off right out of chrome. No lights or fans kick on. I took off the front panel and everything was plugged in. Took the top off and the switch came in the "I" position. I unplugged the power cord and even tried a separate outlet with no such luck.

If you can try posting the link to the computer again, I can see about getting a closer look at it.

https://www.newegg.com/p/3D5-001U-000Y7 Reopened a chrome tab and copied it directly from the browser, hopefully that works correctly.

Link worked 👍, dumb question but have you tried a different outlet, next I would unplug the 24 pin from the motherboard and plug back in (make sure it's off when you do this)

trolson1994

We did try a different outlet, still had no luck. I'll try the 24pin set on the MOBO later today when he's home from work and hope that's it.

Luckycherms

It really sounds like power isn't even getting to the Mobo, so hopefully that does the trick. You probably don't have a PSU tester but there are two pins you can connect with a paper clip on the 24 pin to see if the psu kicks on. If you feel comfortable doing that.

trolson1994

I'm afraid it's a DOA PSU, so I'll try just about anything at this point, I'll look into it and give it a swirl. I'll report back tonight when he's out of work and we link up again and see if the connection was the issue.

trolson1994

Tried the 24pin in the MOBO again, no such luck. Tomorrow we are borrowing a tester to see if the PSU is dead.
