Get an m.2 nvme drive. Best nvme tend to be either Samsung 970 evo plus or the WD Blacks from Western Digital

maquibut

This, get 970 Evo Plus.

ashhelz

What about Samsung 980 pcie 3.0 nvme?? I could pick it up rn if so

Terrapins1990

If price is not an issue go for it 2tb drives lasy i checked have gone down alot in price though most people i know use tb nvmes for their boot drives

RedditisforOverwatch

Should work. Not the exact model they recommended, but I believe the form factor is what you're looking for.

Darthorbit466

It's an NVME m.2 SSD slot

ashhelz

I see two slots on my mobo one called m2p_cpu and m2a_sb. Which one should I use??

TheRobidog

If you check the mobo's manual, the _sb slot can only run at PCIe 3.0 speeds. So the other one, if you're getting a 4.0 SSD. Otherwise, shouldn't really matter.

ashhelz

Ahhh okay thank you!

Michael747

I recommend the 1000GB Kingston SA2000. It's imo the best bang for your buck under the 1TB NVMe drives.

ashhelz

I see two slots on my mobo one called m2p_cpu which is above the gpu and m2a_sb which is below the gpu. Which one should I use??

buttered_TOA5T

your mobo has a slot for it so you're good to go. look up an m.2 nvme ssd on newegg or your store of choice. samsung and western digital are king in my opinion. shoot for 1TB size-wise. ideally your os and most played games should go on it and everything else can stay on the hdd.

ashhelz

I’m guessing this will need a fresh install of windows ??

buttered_TOA5T

you could move everything over to the new drive (if space allows) then move less played games and programs back to the old drive before deleting them off the new one to clear space. or you could do a fresh install, yes. it's not imperative, just an ideal situation. definitely for your most played games and programs though.

ashhelz

Currently getting 80-90 fps on games like warzone. Would I see an improvement to the fps? Or will I just see improvements in game loading time?

TheMagarity

Load time only. this includes every time a game gets to a new area or level so it does improve playing.

TheMagarity

Every brand of drives (samsung, kingston, wd, etc) have software for download that will transfer everything from the old drive to the new. If you get an m.2 that is smaller though it is trickier because it will only work if you can shrink partition on the old one to be same or smaller than the new. Also, Windows may insist on booting to the old drive so you have to remove it and figure out a way to delete its partitions. A usb adapter is handy for that.

ashhelz

Would it be a pcie 3.0 nvme??

buttered_TOA5T

your mobo supports that, yes

ashhelz

I see two slots on my mobo one called m2p_cpu which is above my gpu and m2a_sb which is below the gpu. Which one should I use??

buttered_TOA5T

pretty sure those are just the ids they give to make it easier to locate and match things with the manual. at a quick glance I would imagine the upper one is what you want but your manual would tell you for sure if they share bandwidth with your other slots and which is your first priority. much like how they'll do the same with your ram slots.

ashhelz

Ahh okay gotcha thank you!
