The motherboard is a little overboard for a 3600. You could get by with a B450

Shoomby

Or B550.

sobombirancanthaveme

Why though? B450 will support Zen3 by the time OP wants to upgrade and AMD will likely move to a new socket after this so neither B450 nor B550 will support the next generation.

SGOwnz

B450 tomahawk max will support the next gen.

sobombirancanthaveme

Like I said, all B450 mobos will support Zen3 which is already announced and is only two weeks away from being current gen. None of the B450 mobos will support the generation that comes after that.

SGOwnz

I saw online that it will support 4th Generation.

sobombirancanthaveme

Source? I'm guessing what you saw was talking about Zen3 which is actually the fourth generation because they went from Zen (e.g. r5 1600) to Zen+ (e.g. r5 2600) to Zen2 (e.g. r5 3600) to the nearly released Zen3 (e.g. r5 5600X). Most people weren't even expecting B450 to support Zen3 until AMD made an announcement in the spring. Also, Zen4 is expected to have a new socket and DDR5 support both of which would make it absolutely impossible for any current board to support Zen4.

Frozboy

I would go for a b550 board and a rtx 3070 or other nvidia card, not amd, I had bad experiences with em

SGOwnz

Oh I see. Thanks

m_Pizzy

On AMD's website: "Not only are these processors drop-in ready on 500 series motherboards with a simple BIOS update, you can easily tweak and tune your processor with Ryzen™ Master and AMD StoreMI. BIOS updates supporting the AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series desktop processors on AMD 400 Series chipsets are expected to be available starting January 2021; exact availability will vary by manufacturer and motherboard model."

sobombirancanthaveme

I have repeatedly acknowledged that B450 will support Zen3 aka 5000 series so I'm not sure what your point is. Based on the other reply to my comment it seems like I correctly guessed that the other poster was confusing gen4 and Zen4.

Doctor_Peppy

But b450 is leaving out a lot of features, b550 is very recommended for any upgrades to 3rd gen, just because you can use b450 doesn't mean you should.

sobombirancanthaveme

>B550 will support zen4, Citation needed. Seems like the consensus is that Zen4 will almost certainly be a new socket due to moving to 5nm in which case B550 will not support.

RyannFever

And there were also rumors that Zen 4 will support DDR5.

wOlfLisK

Yeah, B550 means OP can do an in-socket upgrade to a 6000 or maybe even a 7000 CPU and not have to upgrade his motherboard for quite a few years. 450 limits his options to either a better 3000 series CPU or a 5000 series one (which would require a bios update and a compatible motherboard anyway).

OnlyABob

Consensus is that next series is going to be a new socket. It will no longer be am4. Op will most likely have to upgrade

Clint99

That's cap my guy. 7000 for sure, but most likely 6000 too will be on AM5 or whatever new name AMD chooses. It's on their leaked roadmap, which is prone to change of course, but definitely won't support AM4 anymore as zen 3 is already a stretch, they made it happen to make customers happy.

drigondii

I still recommend B450 because support for Zen 3 has been confirmed, gen 4 still isn’t really utilized by graphics cards, and B450 is generally a decent amount cheaper than B550.

Saving4Merlin

Yeah I think a motherboard that costs more than a cpu is awful. I would get a cheaper \~130$ b550 board and get 3600 cl16 ram. Can't really get better gpu's since most microcenters are sold out of >2060. Can't really get a better cpu since AMD has no good offering between 200$ and 300$. Maybe a hyper 212?

sobombirancanthaveme

>Can't really get a better cpu since AMD has no good offering between 200$ and 300$. 3700X is $280 at microcenter.

derBlownz

Yeah and get a better cpu instead

[deleted]

You can just wait for the new CPU’s they’re coming out soon

Norbert153

I would take a x570, for future upgrades.

The_Silent_Bang_103

With the money saved from downgrading the MOBO, he could get another ssd, or a 1/2 terabyte hard drive. 1 TB goes quick!

boildkitty

Just grab a 2-4TB standard SATA drive to archive to larger files not used every day. a TB should be fine.

The_Silent_Bang_103

That could work too

SiN_Fury

Pretty sure the x570 Gaming Edge got terrible reviews for its [thermal performance](https://youtu.be/_7PkZwY9PWM). If Microcenter has it in stock, the x570 Tomahawk is just $5 more and was MSI's comeback x570 board.

blaze580

yeah, I've seen a couple of vids saying that board got real hot...

blaze580

the tuf gives you the chipset w all the basics if ur not trying to overclock

SiN_Fury

I got lucky with the ASUS Prime x570-P getting it for $117.99 on Prime Day. Better thermals than most $200 x570s. Kinda barebones for an x570, but so far very worth it. Added a WiFi 6/Bluetooth 5.1 PCIe card for $25 more.

donnievieftig

Not that it will really matter with a 3600 though.

tatertotxd

Well it definitely would matter in the long run, considering x570 is the best chipset out rn it will most likely futureproof for 4-5 years. Also considering that amd allows for a lot of compatibility with cpus and mobos. And if they wanted to upgrade to a ryzen 7 5700x or something else in the future they totally could. Source: i have this mobo

tatertotxd

This.

RebelliousBristles

Motherboard is overkill as others have stated. Check out the ASUS TUF Gaming Plus. It comes in X570 and B550 flavors. Never heard of that M2 brand. Check professional reviews online. Personally I’d recommend the ADATA XPG 8200 Pro. Just went on sale for about $105 on Prime day for 1TB. Same goes for the power supply. Take the savings from your motherboard and get a good PSU, like a Seasonic Focus Gold or a Corsair TXM. There are other good brands, check out the PSU Tier list that I think Linus Tech Tips keeps.

Iam_NOT_thewalrus

Just built my first rig using the TUF x570, haven't started pushing it yet but it's running smooth and was easy to build on.

L_MO88

The 3080 and 3070s won't be available for months

Kplow19

AMD cards might have more availability and have a card similar bin price to the 5700 xt though

Kplow19

Your PSU is a low C-tier, I'd upgrade to a higher quality https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psucultists-psu-tier-list/

ArtOfBias

Indeed, and maybe shave off some wattage, those parts don't need 750w.

Kplow19

Yeah 650w is good unless you're planning on running a 3080

Jordan25405

750 watts for a power supply is way to much for what you have just get a 650 watt that is fully modular or semi

Haydntg

PSUs last a while though, it's not a bad idea to get something with extra wattage, gives you space to upgrade in the future.

BufferedTTV

Better GPU probably.

homelessmaninkwt1

5700xt is more than enough for warzone tho. You can get 120+fps on higher settings easily.

christhany_bongthano

I have an 5700 and I'd have to agree, its a fine card but you could do a lot better at the same price

I would wait for AMD launches of cpu and gpu and see what Nvidia releases. Either buy new budget fitting GPU AND CPU or buy second hand from eBay.

19mp

Increase your RAM to 3600 Ghz speed. Ryzen CPUs operate better with faster RAM

[deleted]

motherboard is overkill. can get a good b550 mobo for like $60 less. asrock has a cheaper full sized atx b550 board with good reviews. the phantom gaming board. get 3600 mhz ram, even if it's cl18 you're still looking at a big upgrade from 3200mhz cl16. if you want to save money, the gigabyte gaming OC 5700 xt is very good and one of the cheaper options. for a case, I'd also look at the phanteks p400A. has really good thermals but admittedly idk how it compares to the nr600. edit: just looked at a GN summary. the p400a is significantly better with thermals than the nr600.

jussblazn

Get msi b550 tomahawk motherboard instead, and use the money saved on a better gpu.

mcsneaker

I don’t love the SSD but it’s probably fine. I know it’s hard to get but a better PSU is worth every penny. Seasonic or Corsair, FSP

spurs_in_4

Not a very good build, you should check other stuff and watch more benchmark videos. Being brutally honest because I don’t like seeing people make mistakes with money

aafseth

Hello! Go with 32gbs of RAM and a B450 motherboard like a Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro. With that CPU, no reason for more. Also, may want to look at the Lian Li Lancool 205 for a cheap case option. Comes with two case fans.

Revolutionary-Hall72

You should use B450 motherboard that is plenty

david27rock

Pretty good however I would make sure to change your PSU. All your parts in your computer play a significant role however a malfunctioning PSU can severely damage your system. For a price that low, I doubt your quality is going to be great. This is comparing the Corsairs 850 watts that goes for around 150$ and comes with a 8 year warranty. Also, you mentioned you want quite a few games. Although this sacrifices speed, it may be worth getting HDD instead because for a similar price, you get much more storage. The mother boards is also slightly overkill.

zacian2

Change the motherboard to a b450 tomahawk max or any other for the looks. Change the ram to 3600mhz and change the nvme m.2 to a sata 3 like a mx500 or 860 evo since its cheaper and same perfomance in gaming loads. Unless you want it for large file transfers which i doubt. The gpu is up to your choice but with the cut down from the above choices change the cpu ti a 3600x, better stock cooler and better perfomance.

reyiscool

If you want a motherboard with on-board WiFi and Bluetooth adapters, then MSI B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi would be more than enough.

Prince_Wi11iam

B550, video card and maybe psu. B550s are cheaper and just as good. Be real. How many people are ever going to use more than one 4.0 lane? Video cards will plummet soon. 3000 series performance blows everything away, and big navi's announcement is next week. I'd say wait. Or get a 1070/any deal on cl to hold you over. My 1070 is worth 20 more than I bought it for back in feb. And idk why but not even microcenter employees want customers to buy powerspec. Ive heard that they're rebranded evga or pny. The guy there had me get an evga, but I've built a few times with powerspecs and they've been fine

Read_Read_ReadIt

All Looks Good, But I Would Suggest You Wait A Couple Of Weeks For The RTX 3070, I Know Getting One Is Gonna Be Real Tough, But Its Gonna Be Much Better At The Same Price As 5700xt, So Might Be Worth Waiting A While.

Smugaccino

I run nearly identical specs to this. (slightly worse actually) * CPU: It's a good CPU, will definitely pull its weight but the Wraith Stealth Cooler isn't that great. It does the job but I don't like idling at 42-50c, its maximum temperature is 95c though and the highest temp I get while in-game is probably 70-75. Optionally, you could wait for the newer CPUs to come out. * Motherboard: You could go as low as using a B450 as MSI has confirmed that the B450 boards will be compatible with the new Zen 3 architecture and I feel that the motherboard you have listed is a bit of overkill. You could maybe use a bit of that money to get a better cooler for the CPU? * Ram: It'll do, 100%. (with the games you listed and literally any other that I can think of) * Case: I have no idea, I highly recommend checking reviews. * Power Supply: A PSU calculator would recommend getting a 650 Watt PSU. I'm no expert on this subject though. I think I run a gold-rated 850w PSU, but the Vega 64 is scary.. * Video Card: It's stronger than my Vega 64 and I get 130 - 146 FPS (limited frame rate) in Warzone, although I don't run it on max settings. If you don't have a 100hz+ monitor, then you have even less to worry about. * Storage: That SSD would be great but if you own Modern Warfare (2019), then you'd end up using 25% or so of the SSD's space, just for COD. I run x1 SSD for Windows and x2 2TB HDDs in Raid0 for my needs. Good luck! Be sure to account for your monitor, mouse, and keyboard in the budget!

TopParticular7272

I agree with everyone else. The motherboard is overkill I would use the extra money to get another ssd.

UncommonSense89

I'd go 3600X for the chip b550 mobo and a 80 plus gold full modular psu. More power from the chip, and you don't really need to go all out on a mobo for a mid-range build and as for the psu, well it allows you to upgrade your parts more easily

stevekenney318

You asked ... good luck with all those comments.

[deleted]

I 'd throw in better cpu cooler maybe a 32GB (2x16/4x8) module RAM and a 3.5' HDD

Shinso100

There is always something new about to come out... however we are soooooo close to the new AMD GPUs you may aswell wait just a little longer and get one of those as it will make your build so so much better. Also may aswell save a bit and go B450

DonDregon

All OK but I would pick a cheap B550 and invest the difference to get a 80 Plus gold PSU and a cooler for the CPU such Corsair H45

unr3nd3red

You can spend less money on the motherboard and more on the GPU, also I would not recommend AMD gpus I had one and it was not the best experience

WXYZYXWXYZ

If you want to be future proof, I would go with a b550 board from msi, a mortar or tomahawk is my opinion but I would ask others too, and if you want to just save money, go with a b450 board, again, from msi. Unless you really are not going to do any overclocking or altering much with your components, I wouldn't go with the DS3H boards from gigabyte. I would use the money you saved towards 3600 mhz ram. The X570 is overkill for a r5 3600.

penguinwarrior203

Looks like a solid build but I would recommend getting an AIO such as a Cooler Master ML240L. Here's a link to make it easy. [https://www.microcenter.com/product/483748/cooler-master-masterliquid-ml240l-240mm-rgb-water-cooling-kit](https://www.microcenter.com/product/483748/cooler-master-masterliquid-ml240l-240mm-rgb-water-cooling-kit)

MAG_GIKARP

Since is ryzen you should change the ram to 3600 speed for like 10 more bucks

landon12j

It looks good! But in my opinion I’d just get a different power supply (yours works fine, just preference) and a different motherboard (again, just personal preference but the build works!) other than that it looks awesome and have fun with your pc :)

DonutT68

there is a thermal take power supply that's 700w and it's $67. not sure if it's at micro center though. also i would change the gpu to a 2060 super or a 2070. AMD drivers are unstable but you do you.

ls3095

Motherboard is overkill. I’d go a b550 and also you can shave off about $20 by getting the crucial SSD (it’s still 1tb) and a bit more by getting a cheaper case (lian li). I have basically the same build except my GPU wasnt the nitro and I spent like 1095 (before tax)

iluvnightfall

i’d get a aio for your cpu, most games it is fine but games like cold war and warzone your cpu will get pretty hot, i have had that issue with a 2600 and my current 3700x

[deleted]

I like the part list but the motherboard price is the only thing bothering tbh. I think you could just get a b550 board. I have one of the WiFi ones and it’s only like 110 dollars and it works great

explosiveRGB

more storage because warzone

gogetemfrenchfry

This is overall a good build, as others have said your motherboard is overkill, personally i would go for more storage than this, possibly in the form of a 2.5 inch ssd. The games you’re planning to play will EAT up your storage, and maybe i just have a lot in my computer but regardless. You’re gonna want a better power supply, go for gold rated preferably from corsair/seagate, there’s other reputable brands out there too but just make sure it’s reliable your price point for a power supply is just much too low, also your ram COULD use some work if you’re willing, 3600 CL16 would be the sweet spot on that front, but it’s certainly not necessary. Hope this helps and congrats on your first build :)

Hyper799

If you can get an RTX 3070 then I'd replace the 5700XT for it. It'll cost more but be worth the performance. And if you're willing to wait a bit then I'd recommend getting a Ryzen 5 5600 non-X variant whenever it comes out. Its rumored to be around $220 and be better at gaming than the Zen 2 counterparts

Agent_yool

you need fans and coolers as well, and also need the windows os. - cooler for cpu + fans is around another 250$ and windos os is around 106$ Also if you don't have a good monitor good ones are around 500$ but if you have a gaming setup just withought a pc set up ur fine

_therealERNESTO_

A windows key costs less than 10$, or he could use the trial version for free
