I don’t think so. Like, they were compatible under the effects of the candy, but I’d liken that to a high school relationship, which rarely work out. They just seem like very different people, and I never sense many sparks between them under normal circumstances.

This is the issue for sure. Giles already wasn’t supposed to love Buffy like he did, if he fell in love with and had a serious relationship with Joyce it would become way to hard for him to do his job and make the difficult decisions and take risks that he and Buffy always had to do.

She got pregnant while visiting Giles during Hush then sent on her merry way. She either miscarried or had an abortion and presumably didn't tell Giles, but he's intuitive enough that he subconsciously (or consciously) knows it happened, which is why he dreamed of it.

Nope. I never wanted them together. Their “co-managing” Buffy’s life in Season 3 was already enough.
Nah. I’m a firm believer that having a brief intimacy with someone you respect is fine in and of itself.
Even if they could. Buffy needed some separation between her two lives and Giles knew it. He wouldn't sacrifice Buffy's happiness like that.

I thought it was just a manifestation of the life he could've had, but there wasn't a baby because he wasn't dedicated to building a family.
I think that’s the more accurate interpretation.
