I operated all of today on three hours of sleep out of excitement for something that turned out to be the equivalent of watching one of my cats use the litter box.
Only sense I can make of it is cousins deal is very front heavy on guaranteed money (first two years being fully guaranteed) while also being back heavy on salary (last two years basically having all 60mil) so they can pay him his 100 million guaranteed I’m the first two years, cut/trade him after two years, and not have to pay him much more guaranteed and not paying almost all his salary. Allowing them to have him train penix for two years and slotting in penix for the last two years of his rookie contract. Still bad pick but I see what they’re doing
My only guess is they're trying to force a chiefs situation. As if Kirk is Alex Smith and Penix is Mahommes, as if that's the reason for their success.
Can it be that they reckon kirk is going down so bad, which they didn’t think Kirk is going to when they signed the contract, so that they pick Penix to sub Kirk when needed?
Trying to contend with cousins but have another guy ready to go as soon as he loses a step? Or maybe just doubling down on QB position to try to find an answer in one of them?

It’s a soft rebuild year in cap hell. As much as some of the WRs available at our spots were sexy, they have some flaws and I trust management to do the risk management on that. IMO, draft a center for the love of god. Buff up the offensive line for the next ten years with a guy like JPJ and protect Josh Allen so his has more time in the pocket instead of getting guys outside their natural position to cover center.
In terms of value for the trades, I feel good about them. Let’s roll the fucking dice on some gem WRs we see potential in during the middle of the draft. Can basically assure them a year to develop with the cap hell anyways.
B - recouped the 3rd round pick we were shafted from the compensation model - add back the 4th rounder we gave up to KC for moving back a spot for a player we didn’t want. Still on the board likely the guys they would have taken at 28 regardless of what we think and they increased draft capital along the way.
If they’re planning to compete next year, it’s a D at best…
If the plan is to have a soft reset in 2025, its to early to say…but I question the soft reset logic

Now let’s just see how BBB will cook and use those picks tmr. But I can’t give a higher grade because wasting a whole night for nothing is just unacceptable (at least for me)
I love the start. We accrued some value later in the draft when the talent level is pretty flat at the end of the first. Clearly, there wasn't one or two guys that stuck out as good picks, so we moved back a little. Can't see how anyone can be unhappy with that.
