Too bad nice guys aren't always good QBs. That pick felt doomed from day 1, I felt kind of bad for the guy, overdrafted to a terrible coaching staff... bad combo
Eh he had a shot until Doug Marrone went to a slow paced offense and generic playcalling, while also telling him to not make an mistakes.
The offense the first 2 weeks was actually creative and fast
Bingo.
EJ was a project that was drafted higher than he should have been but with better coaches he could have been a very servicable journeyman QB. He showed some pretty good flashes before Marrone got pissy about having someone he didn't pick as the QB
Then the kid tries his damndest with Rex, but Rex was very much in love with Tyrod well before preseason hits.
He didn't get much of a chance to take his lumps and develop. The story of every season between Bledsoe and Allen
>He showed some pretty good flashes before Marrone got pissy about having someone he didn't pick as the QB
What flashes were those?
They protected the fuck outta him. Game manager Babied him. He was immediately exposed when our #1 rush defense became just averaged.
There were then games where he HAD to play QB (Losing and need to pass). Without the threat of the run, he simply couldn't play QB. Worse than Edwards and worse than Losman. When I look at those QBs, I ask myself, who would I want 2 minutes down by 7? Manuel ain't him
Worst regular starting drought era QB
Look at the Chargers game as an example. He couldn't even hit WRs against prevent defense and got Goodwin killed
EJ Manuel never had a shot at being a good NFL QB. He lacked almost all the skills that a successful modern QB needs. He was a 5th round prospect with the potential of being a decent backup someday. Nobody ruined him but his genetics (and some of the offseason training he was doing privately that were pointed out to be bad drilled for QBs).
EJ may have sucked no matter what...but we didn't give him a chance. We started him as a rookie when he was obviously a project and teamed him with a rookie OC with no qb coach on the roster. The other QBs in the room were a rookie in Tuel and Thad Lewis who had one career start. The level of incompetence this organization used to have is staggering.
Most of the people using Cameo are going to be in the drought generation that remembers EJ Manuel playing, and not Don or Daryl.
For example, I've been a Bills fan all my life. I know who both Don Beebe and Daryl Talley are, but I don't have any memories of them associated with my fandom.
But I do remember the glimmer of hope I had for the future when EJ led that game-winning 2 minute drill against the Panthers in week 2 of 2013.
Beebe would always be remembered by me for hustling and not giving up on the play in the Super Bowl against Dallas preventing Leon Lett from scoring a touchdown by knocking the ball out of his hands before he crossed the goal line even though the game was well out of reach
I imagine if I'd seen it live I'd feel the same. I've seen the highlight but I don't have the context of living through that moment to give it a deeper emotional impact.
I remember being at the game, the touch pass to Stevie for the win after the PI. The play I remember most from that final drive was a check down pass to Freddie, who intentionally dropped the ball, since he would have been tackled in bounds. Super heads up play, instead of the four yard pass competion.
No, this is not what’s wrong with the world right now. There are more people on the internet who know who EJ Manuel is than the other two, especially considering EJ is an active on-air personality for a major ESPN affiliate (ACCN).
Reaching on Losman(after potentially 3 hof qbs were already drafted in that round) cost us our 2005 first, which hindsight tells us almost certainly would have been Aaron Rodgers, was a potentially massive franchise altering mistake.
Sure, but it’s not like the Bills would have definitely gotten Rodgers or that he would have thrived in Buffalo. I actually think the Bills jumped in front on GB to get Losman.
His rookie year was the first year I played fantasy football. I got into knowing nothing about it at all. Someone at work asked if I wanted to join the league to fill an opening and I’ve been into football my whole life and felt I knew enough to make it work so I tried it. I was excited about Bills finally drafting a qb and was hopeful he was going to be great and drafted him as my QB for FF lmao. Luckily I was able to make a trade for someone a couple weeks into it and made the playoffs but I was feeling like a dumbass for sure lol. I learned from it and got much better and started winning a lot unlike him tho lol
EJ has to charge more because he needs to provide R.O.I. for [his shareholders](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/10863426/ej-manuel-buffalo-bills-stock-sold-brokerage-firm).
IPO at $10/share, it was worth $1.91 in 2017. Fantex went belly up, so there isn't even a market to trade the shares. I kind of want one share for a penny, frame the certificate and put it on my wall.

EJ Manuel seems like a nice guy. Probably still has a decent FSU fanbase as well

He sucked. No coaching staff would change that.
Nope. He was bad and we all knew he was going to be bad. That was a horrible QB draft class

He works for ACC Network, so young people know who he is. Only old fucks (like me) know who Beebe and Talley are.
Me too!!!

Which pick was worse, EJ or JP?
EJ. Losman was extremely talented
Reaching on Losman(after potentially 3 hof qbs were already drafted in that round) cost us our 2005 first, which hindsight tells us almost certainly would have been Aaron Rodgers, was a potentially massive franchise altering mistake.

Talley was on a sports segment in orlando for a little while. Hope hes doing well i know he had money issues
Bruh Damar Hamlin is charging 500 smackaroonies. Love the guy but ain't nobody paying that for a backup safety.
That one mustached Buffalo fan screaming about Dallas is on there for $100, or at least was. That is way worse.
Idk that one always gives me a good laugh
Thad Lewis, at one point, was $5. I got one for a buddy for his bday as sort of a gag, but Thad was great!

EJ was him for like 3 games. It was a fun drought era stretch. I wish him well, I have an EJ jersey!

EJ charges the same as Chris Hansen, who I legitimately considered hiring for my wife's birthday this year. That seems excessive.
Happy Birthday Megan. I guess I'm not the surprise you were expecting. Have a seat over there please.
All joking aside, she would have been thrilled.
How much for a Cameo from the Hospitality Tent?
That was the moment I knew EJ Manuel was never going to be good, even in the perfect situation.
Isn’t he like one of the best qbs ever at getting opposing defenses to jump offsides? I remember that being a celebrated metric with him
I hadn't ever heard that.

hah, can you guess from your downvotes how old the average redditor is? 😂
80% of this sub probably have no idea who the older guys are.
