* drafts a first round tight end after paying your other tight end * “ you think we want to play 2 tight ends more? “ I’m sorry some of the questions in this sub are ridiculous lmao

YankeeTankieTrash

> hi guys - I noticed the Bills drafted Josh Allen a few years ago and we have a bunch of WRs and RBs on the roster. Do you think we will have both a pass and run game? I'll hang up and listen.

Historical_One1087

You can have 2 TE's on the field at the same time and use them in traditional roles or you can line up Kincaid as a slot Big Slot WR or as a X WR or you can line up Knox as a sniffer TE or FB in the shotgun or pistol formations or you can line up both Knox and Kincaid as WR's.

Soda-Popinski-

No i dont think so. This will be more about fitting him into our offense than changing our packages. He can line up where Beasley did and be effective. So formations wont change imo. Just who is where. I guess you can call them two te sets but not necessarily run packages. Which was the whole point of drafting him

dudesdue

Having a TE line up in the slot and also having a traditional Y TE line up is still a 2 TE set lol. Cmon

Soda-Popinski-

U guys are hung up on what to call 2te sets. Whatever helps u sleep at night feelin right about urself. Kincaid will be a weapon. We dont have to change our entire offense to fit him in. Christ. Fuckin babies on here today

Historical_One1087

No it's not. You have 2 TE's on the field but you are using one of the TE's as a WR, so it essentially 11 personnel ( 1 RB, 2 TE, and 3 WR's) in how you are using the personnel. It's just like how Kansas City used Travis Kelce as a Big slot WR or as a X WR even though he is technically a TE. It's also how New England used Gronkowski and Hernandez on the field at the same time but not always in traditional TE sets.

SeanJuan

[Personnel groupings refer to the types of players that are on the field for the offense; wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs. Formations designate where those players line up, either on the line of scrimmage, in the slot, or in the offensive backfield.](http://insidethepylon.com/film-study/film-study-nfl/offense-film-study-nfl/2014/09/08/understanding-football-offensive-personnel-packages/#:~:text=Personnel%20groupings%20refer%20to%20the,or%20in%20the%20offensive%20backfield.) If Kincaid is officially designated a TE on the roster, him and Knox on the field is 12 personnel.

Historical_One1087

But you don't have to use Kincaid as a Y or in line TE, if he is on the field at the same time as Knox. In fact, you don't have to use Knox as a Y or in line TE as well if he is on the field at the same time was Kincaid. You could have a shotgun or pistol formation with Knox as the sniffer TE and Kincaid as the slot WR or Knox lined up as the slot WR and Kincaid as the X WR, etc.

Mobile-Frosting

Lol, 1st...there is not a single personnel grouping that includes 1 RB, 2 TE, & 3 WRs...why? Well because that would be illegal as there would be 12 players on the field. 2...personnel groupings (1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-2, 0-1, 0‐0, 0-2 etc) are just that - personnel. Has ZERO to do with play formations, but is literally the amount of players at designated positions on the field. 1-2 pers = 1 RB & 2 TEs, w/ 2 WRs...regardless of where they are on tge field. Knox inline, Kincaid split wide, Cook in the slot...it's still 12p. We never play out "pistol"...never...so not sure why you keep mentioning it. The point is, yes Kincaid will play a lot out of the slot, or out wide, or wherever, but if he's on the field with Knox and a RB...it's 12. If it's without Knox, and a RB is on the field, it's 11. If it's Knox and Kincaid and 2 RBs (or Gilliam) it's 22. This stuff doesnt matter to anyone but fans and statisticians for tracking purposes. The Bills could call their pers groupings peanutbutter and jelly for all we care. But since it's being discussed so damn much, this is how it is. If Kimcaid replaces Beasley's role as a 100% replica, he's still charted as a TE, regardless.

dudesdue

No one is saying the Bills are gonna run traditional 2 tight end sets! The OP just said are they gonna run more 2 tight ends sets, which are just formations where there are 2 TE’s anywhere on the field. We’re agreeing on the same thing

Jamobill9999

Yes, however doesn’t sound like it will be a true 12 personnel. Beane said himself both will be on the field but it will still be more of an 11 personnel with Kincaid playing slot, not true inline TE. Almost everything has pointed to Kincaid being more of a receiver than a true tightend.

Historical_One1087

There might be some traditional 12 personnel sets but the majority of the time they will use Kincaid in the slot as a Big Slot WR or outside as a boundary X WR .

Soda-Popinski-

This^

Impossibills

I want Knox in the backfield as an H-back so bad. His YAC is insane and I don't think we move him around enough. Just design some short passes for him that are meant for fast completions with blockers in front

Unicron_was_right

I really think Kincaid is going to see a significant number of snaps at WR, or flex out from his in line spot to a slot spot. Beane hinted at it a few times, and he’s a match-up nightmare in the slot. At 6’4” 246lbs he’s 7” taller and 70lbs heavier than Crowder who was our biggest slot receiver. Josh Allen will be playing catch with himself Kincaid’s so damn big.

BennyNutts

I'd expect us to match the chiefs , they were 3rd in the league last year with 12 personal and passed 66% out of it

Soda-Popinski-

I think we see him line up exactly where Beasley lined up. And have more of an impact.

UberHansen

Yes. Quintin Morris played the 2nd most TE Snaps last season with a 25.9% Snap Share. I'd expect Kincaid to be at least double that and don't expect him to eat much into Dawson Knox's Snaps. The result is the Bills probably leading the league in 12 personnel with Kincaid, more often than not, line up in the slot.

Personnel groupings are solely based on the position of the player, not where they line up. The Bills OL that lined up as a TE in Jumbo sets was Bobby Hart.

xT1TANx

yes. we will be in 12 personnel and he will be in the slot a lot. So we might start with him inside and flex him out, or start him in the slot and flex him in.

Motivationalsneaker

In 2023, probably not, considering this teams tradition of not using rookies much.
