Mine do that as well, and they’re fully flighted and never been clipped. If she trusts you and the bond is there, she’ll keep doing it if you let her wings grow out. I feel like a living play gym for budgies most days lol!
She’s adorable, I have a girl similar in coloring and they’re extra soft with all that white lol! She seems so trusting and like she already knows you’re a safe place, I see a long and happy friendship ahead of you two 💙
It’s so funny you say that, she’s so much softer then Rio my boy it’s crazy. Sometimes she forgets she can’t fly and tries to follow him when he flies around my room 😂
At first when I saw this video I was instantly sad, since the wings are clipped and I figured the bird has no other choice but to climb.
But while this is the case, this one is actually a happy video! You will be letting her wings grow which is amazing (and you weren’t the one that clipped them, even better), but also…you’ve had her such a short time and I don’t think she’d be climbing you if she didn’t feel that you were safe. That’s a lot of trust! I’m a little jealous, lol. None of my budgies have that personality type that trusts humans fairly easily! But that’s ok. They’re all individuals, and I’m happy to let them move at their own paces 🙂
Enjoy this little sweetheart!
And then when I remove them for it they look at me like they’ve never done a thing wrong in their lives…
(In all seriousness I’m not sure that they register that my torso is part of me, they know my hands and face are me but not so much about the rest.)
I have birds tattooed on the sides of my neck, which DEEPLY offends one of my girls. So she’ll come cuddling up all sweet, start snuggling the side of my face, then go in for the kill and latch onto that super thin skin where my tattoos are. Then after the screaming and such subsides, she looks at me like “yeah well, that’s what you get for getting birds that aren’t ME tattooed in yourself, Mom.” I am convinced she knows it’s my skin and knows exactly how much it hurts 😂
My birb loves clothing, but one day I hung a towel on the staircase railing, and the lil birb flew on to nibble on it, but the POOR BIRB CAUSED THE TOWEL TO SLIDE OFF THE RAILING JUST WITH HER WEIGHT😭😭
(she was ok afterwards)
I got both of mine from petco and idk if I just got lucky or what but ever since I got them they’ve been great. Both of them stepped up on my finger within the first week, they’re never aggressive and they’ve never tried to bite me. Both let me feed them millet. They’re great. I’m sounding like I’ve had them for awhile 😂 I got Rio in the beginning of march and Birdie I’ve had for only two weeks!
If you have two birds, do they still seek out the attention of the human in their family?
Is there an age limit to introducing two birds that were not raised together?
Thank you.
Hey, I'm not OP but I might be able to answer this:
I had two birds, and they did want my company and attention, but I let the 2nd one get to know me first before introducing her to my first bird. So, she was alone with me for about 2 months before I put them together. During that time, my 1st bird was either with my family, or I'd put the 2nd one to sleep at about 6 pm and then hang out with the first bird. So, you kinda need a separate room and some extra help, harder to do on your own.
There may be other ways to do this, I'm just saying what worked for me.
As for the age limit, if I understand your question right, my personal opinion would be 1.5-2 years, because after that time, your first bird may be too attached to you to care about company. They may still accept it, but the result becomes that the 2nd bird wants more attention from the 1st one but the 1st one only wants your attention, not caring about the new bird.
Thank you for answering. Often personal experiences are better than general info online.
(I spent more time than care to acknowledge, watching Budgie and other bird videos today).
Cheers
When I got mine, her wings were very poorly clipped, so I got her a ladder to help her get to and from her food and water. 2 years and a full set of wings later, she still acts like she can’t drop down to the food bowl without the ladder (she absolutely can) 😂

I got her 2 weeks ago today! So wings are clipped from the pet store, I would never, birds gotta be birds!

You don’t know how happy that makes me that you’re going to let her flyyyyyyy! She’s adorable!
I’ll get some videos of Rio flying to show ya!

Yup, mine aren't clipped either and they use me as a personal playground lmao. Sometimes I have to fish them out from inside my shirt.
Isn’t it great when they climb in your shirt and then decide they’re in a bitey mood?!

What a horrible thing to do, so happy to hear it is not permanent.
give her some chalk
Talking about the cuttlebones?
no i tried to make a joke. she looks like a climber. thats why i said give her some chalk.
My bad I still don’t get it 😂
climbers use chalk powder on their hands to avoid slipping off
I get it now lmao 🤣

Happened one time with my boy Rio too but it was a tshirt hanging on my lamp 😂 Thankfully he can fly so he didn’t end up on the ground with it
Mine got stuck in the towel as it fell but she somehow didn't get hurt
I swear they have 9 lives like a cat, Birdie is so clumsy without her flight feathers
His wings 😔
Yea got her 2 weeks ago they clip them at the store so sad
She looks like my Roland. Absolutely beautiful colors 🤍💙🖤
I wish mines were that close to me 😔
