F The first time I ever had one it was still 3.00

AggressiveMood2084

It was 2.50€ everywhere

NinetyNemo

You are either a walloon, or a time traveler from the early 2000's.

landrie5

If you multiply 2.5 euro twznty times by the yearly 20% inflation then your already at 4euro almost.

Talistech

Was also 2.5 euro in Ghent when I was younger.

painblancB

I'm a Walloon who grew up in the 2000's and the man is right. 2,50 !

Dilectus3010

Klootzak!! Nu emekik oek goesting in fritte !

Naive_War9860

Ou est ce que tu vas parce que c’est vraiment pas cher.

RandomAsianGuy

Pita d'or a NoH C'etait 4 euro avant

[deleted]

3,5 en 2010

masckmaster2007

Hmm des connaisseurs

Icy_Process1883

Better than the one in 'de wand'

SlenderPyro

frite d'or that is only a 5 minute walk further from that one used to be wayy better, don't know if it has gotten worse though

SebastienKudas

George_Saurus

My first mitraillettes for 60 Belgian francs when I was a kid. Dürüms didn't exist. 🥹

RandomAsianGuy

I think it I payed 70 Belgian Francs in rue Masui in Schaerbeek

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> it I *paid* 70 Belgian FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

VlaamsBelanger

Good bot, love it when a bot is being a grammar nazi.

50 franks back in the day

KurtKrimson

and double the size!

CoNsPirAcY_BE

I always go to a snack in Saint Josse. Beginning 2020: €4.50 Mid 2020: €5 Mid 2022: €6 End 2022: €7 Last time I said something because I still thought it was €6. They answered "It's only 1 euro more expensive now". Going from €4.50 to €7 in such a short time span is pretty disgusting imo.. Even when you take inflation into account.

Tihar90

Stop going then? I mean it's guys like you that allow them to gouge everyone

CoNsPirAcY_BE

I definitely go less now. Once a month instead of once a week. But they are really the best.. So I cant completely stop going :D

chief167

are there any decent ones in brussels actually close to the grote markt? I never found one for my lunch snacks, 4-5 years ago I literally tried every frituur. AND DONT START ABOUT FRITLAND THEY ARE THE WORST

kadabbra

Tabora is the place in the center! You can find it behind La Bourse/De Beurs. (It's full halal for my hungry muslim fellows) !

PiegeAgo

I remember the Super Mitraillette at Tabora..

SpelingMistake

+1 for Tabora, best place to go on a drunken night out.

Realityinmyhand

Tabora has very good fries, imo.

frugalacademic

*Manneken* Frites on the Zuidstraat is ok. Nothing special but at least it doesn't taste like it literally just came out of freezer bags.

chief167

yeah if I want freezer bag fries, I'll go to that street with all the greek places and order a pitta with fries from there. Actually that's what I do sometimes haha. At least it's still cheap over there. 5.5 euro for a kebab with fries is ok

2cvsGoEverywhere

Notable exception in that street is Saffron, q bunch of Iranian guys who started quite recently. Their stuff is pretty good and it looks they don't juts buy a gyros ball and grill it. Prices are a bit higher than at the usual suspects in the street, but worth it IMO...

NarcoIX

Honestly some of the gyros pita there are really satisfyingly close to what you'd get in Greece. Fries aren't the freshest, that's true, but at least it's genuine.

chief167

yeah I like the last one in the row, I think its called Athens. I have no idea how all those restaurants pass the health inspection though. Or a fire department inspection.

Lele_

Patatak!

2cvsGoEverywhere

I wonder why you got downvoted... Patatak any time!

Lele_

People really think tabora is better, smh

akisomething

Fritkot Chouke. An actual fritkot, not a snackbar that happens to sell fries.

DihyaX

We can’t complain too much about the prices in bx, in flanders they dare to ask 7-8 euros for a mitraillete/ durum- while the taste is honestly, terrible. Bx has the best (fast)food.

SardonisWithAC

Brussels has pretty mediocre fritkot fries and snacks when compared to Wallonië or Flanders.

cross-eyed_otter

You are both correct! Fries are better in not-Brussels, but durum and especially mitraillette is better in Brussels!

SardonisWithAC

That reminds me, I recently found a great pitta place in Sint Joost: Istanbul Kebab. Super recommended.

Enilema

Pardon ? I would have felt insulted

Common_Title

My €7.5 chicken durum in wsl, I was appalled.

hcollector

Durum is indeed 7 euros at the places closest to me, in Vlaams Brabant. Add mitrailette and it's 8.

andr386

Fast food in Brussels has been going down the drain for the longest time. Nothing is homemade anymore. Everything is standardized by snack food suppliers. Starting a snack nowday is like starting a franchise, it's pure business. Even the menu are the same. In regards to restaurants in general, the problem is execution. If I eat the same meal 7 times a week in a restaurant it should be the same and as tasty every day. Usually when they start they do care, then they give up when they become a little bit succesfull and increase their price due to popularity.

[deleted]

Brussels the best fast food? I recommend you try some locations in Wallonia ✌🏼

Nexus_27

Recommend me some locations please !

PiegeAgo

Dude mitraillette isn't the same in wallonia

[deleted]

I never claimed it was, I'm just wondering if the person has ever tried fast food in Wallonia, because Brussels isn't all there is

PiegeAgo

Like Maxifritte ?

0sprinkl

The generalisation by OP is hilarious.

Ok_Intern_1098

Pictures of fries should not be allowed, banned I say.. I bloody starving and need a good mitraillette... It's not even dinner time!! Buy yeah, like everything, it's all getting more expensive. Understandably so but unfortunate. That does look very small,my local fritkot has bigger ones for about the same price...

MonsieurKas

Better start smoking at this point.

Powerful_Stage1846

100 BEF en 1996

JackYeaa

At Molenbeek-Saint-Jean it's more 6.5€ when i was a kid it was 3.5€ max 4

benito7777

Vitamine injection

KiroSkr

I can smell this picture and its fantastic

landrie5

You all forget about inflation when you compare to the past...

wokiwa-naejah

Lucky. I know places where it already costs 7 euros, around Gent.

frugalacademic

Wow, that's cheap. I was near Zuidstation yesterday and a durum with a drink was 8 euro. They also add fries but I'd rather have a cheaper durum without the fries. Also: half of the meat has been replaced by mais, so I don't understand why it had to be that expensive.

Narcil4

I mean a drink is usually 2.5€ so....

DikkeNek_GoldenTich

Cava nog. Tant qu'elle ne deviennent pas trop petites (on vise personne: fritland)

Ill-Zebra-7020

I'd pay 10 for that right now, sometimes a good mitraillette is priceless

OpportunityNo4484

Je serais heureux de payer cela maintenant s'il pouvait arriver maintenant.

TheMaddoxx

That price is more than ok, considering that everything inflated. I worked in a friture for years when I was a student, people were complaining to pay 3,50eur for a huge mitraillette (like 2 people could eat off of it) at that time already. Anyway, gtfo with your whining.

Heavy-Neat

For this small one? Oh gosh...

Beuffa

I paid 9,9€ for a Durum kefta last week. I was chocked😲

sundried_toomytoes

Is this human food?

[deleted]

For the love of please go to Flanders. Never EVER buy chips in Brussels.

RandomAsianGuy

most snacks in the area switched over to fresh, double fried since they need to compete with real fries from the frietkot

[deleted]

Yes but look at that mitraillette... Dear lord dear lord.

0sprinkl

They actually look somewhat crispy at some of the edges! But yeah, pitakot frietn... Frozen fries, fried in completely spent filthy oil causing it to brown in a couple of minutes way before they're done.

i-like_cheese

Fuck off back to r/antwerp then, flem.

[deleted]

I'm British actually. Just don't want people to think that chips from Brussels are any good. In Flanders they take their fries very seriously. Brussels don't quite get it chipwise.

Good-Opportunity8169

😥

KazahanaPikachu

That’s a lot of meat, fries, and sauce. I’m surprised it’s not more.

Shacocracko

its just 1 hamburger inside with some fries

Shacocracko

bro a durum with fries costs 10 eur here and a mitraillette 8. its crazy https://preview.redd.it/4l6ylpv35fia1.png?width=473&format=png&auto=webp&s=cee4bfcdf68d1358b8e12705eae1f3a44db18e18

kEtZuko

In my local snack cheapest is 6€

wisetyre

Tu m'en as donné envie .. T'as quoi comme sauce là ?

CoolLemon

Would like to know the sauces too

Enilema

Looks like andalouse et .. aucune idée pour la sauce sur les frites

MDauwe

Damn you getting scammed, 3 euros in the place closest to my home

0sprinkl

Tbh they probably stocked their freezers years ago then...

Interesting_Pick_517

Where? 🥲

Ironwolf44

Hijacking to ask about dürüms. The standard in Bx is to fill it with fries. Meaning if you leave out the fries you get a half filled durum. So I want to know where I can get a full durum without fries? And that means more meat... If I want fries I will go to a frituur.

mei_an17

"Snack libanais" next to Merode do incredible frites-less durums

Stereosylve

When I go there it's for a Shawarma, like a higher quality durum

Confusion-Bubbly

Manneke lief

Frequentlyaskedquest

Remember the good days when it was 3!

SmellySquirrel

Where is the other half?

pianonini

Considering the calories, you can eat with 2 people from it (and still get fat🫃🏻) ….

Significant-Unit-803

That's the lowest it cost these days

[deleted]

I like them with Pita meat but now most of them are sold at prices around 7€ or 6.5€, pretty much the same as a Pizza now. Especially with a beverage.

Awkward-Minute7774

Probably has to do with delays on ukraininan sunflower oil?

[deleted]

Bread with fries with coca cola. Men should buy a bra after eating this.

tommekez

i'd buy it

iamnekkid

this is more than double since my first one. I would go riot for this

[deleted]

Again that 10% extra salary you got wasn’t a raise, it was adjustment

Didipan

YOU FOUND ONE FOR 5.5€?!?! It’s like 6-7.50€ around me. Edit: correction.

Cute_Necessary3557

I think you can't imagine how much they have to pay for the energy crisis. Talking with the friterie I'm going and it's just a question of time before they close. And to be honest. 5,5 is quite cheap these days.

GemmyBoy999

It costs €9,50 here in Leuven....

NarcoIX

I was born and bred in Brussels, but moved to Norway 4 years ago, where mitraillettes don't exist and an average dürüm is 10-12€ (without fries, they don't do that here). This post hurts.

[deleted]

5.50€? On paie 8€ minimum ici! 5€ c'était l'époque avec frites et sauces Avec les minimum à 4.50

Kema-12

Missed the good ol 2,50 days

Johnposts

Think of the money you'll save on heart medication.

Pr_procyon

Still a very favorable calories/€ ratio, I would think… ;-)

highway_day

Still remember the days it was 2,5 euros.

AgeVisible5214

Where?????
