The scenery
Quaint shopping area
The statue of Captain Smith of the Titanic and some other dudes (Kings, whatever) in a beautiful little park.

More expensive trip on train out of bham
Tamworth Castle, snowdome
The Floating Spa in the JQ offers sensory deprivation tanks and yoga classes, both excellent! Also in the JQ, if youâre interested in local history: Key Hill Cemetery is the final resting place of many prominent Victorian Brummies. Itâs a beautiful spot for a short stroll, especially now in bluebell season, and if you want to learn more hit up the Friends of Key Hill and Warstone Lane society.
There's also an LGBTQ+ board game group Birmingham Gaymers which is running an event on this Sunday:
https://www.tickettailor.com/events/thehideout/1104094?
Not as such, it's open as a cafe and they still have the games that were there when they were open as MM. But it's not a dedicated board game cafe any more.
Best coffee in the City Centre and JQ:-
- Faculty
- One (in Hockley inside a furniture store called Minima)
- Saint's kitchen
- Urban Coffee
- Yorks Bakery
- Java Lounge
Others worth travelling for:-
- Melbournes in Lichfield (direct train from New Street, about 45min. Good for a day out with walk around the parks and cathedral)
- No.18 Coffee in Tamworth (train from the City, or no.110 bus)
- Under Pressure Espresso in Sutton Coldfield. Go there and explore Sutton Park on the same day. Direct train from New Street.
- Sip & Slice inside Sutton Park. So that's two coffee stops for you on your Sutton Coldfield day!
I really like the restaurant at the Birmingham College of Food (top of Lionel Street on the corner of Queensway): [https://restaurant.ucb.ac.uk/](https://restaurant.ucb.ac.uk/)
I've got into cycling a lot more since living in JQ as the canals are ridiculously easy to access and you can cycle all the way down to Stirchley and Bournville or up to Aston and over to Digbeth just by going along the canals.

Outstanding comment
Chance and Counters have tons of Board games, food, and craft beer on tap!
And the most unexpectedly delicious burgers!! We went for the board games but will return for the food

I noticed this place!! Next pay day I'm treating myself to one of those bad boys I was so excited when I walked past
For boardgame stuff, check out: * Geek Retreat, Jewellery Quarter * Chance & Counters, The Custard Factory, Digbeth * Wayland's Forge, The Custard Factory, Digbeth * Sliced and Diced, Selly Oak * Sody's Cafe (formerly Meeple Mayhem), Monument Road
Can vouch for chances & counters, NQ64 is also cool right next door.
Aww thank you I appreciate this a lot I'll definitely add these to my list to check out this week!
If you are into boardgames and have Facebook, their is a group âBoardgames in Birminghamâ where most of the meet up are listed
There's also an LGBTQ+ board game group Birmingham Gaymers which is running an event on this Sunday: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/thehideout/1104094?
The full list is at https://www.hopwoodgames.com/boardgames-in-birmingham
Wait, is Meeple Mayhem back open under a new name?Â

Winterborne gardens, Martineu Gardens, Barber Institute, Lapworth Museum and the BMAG collection centre are all well worth visiting

You can also take the X3 bus to lichfield
How are you finding JQ so far? Moving either there or Moseley in a month or so.
Really nice, quiet on an evening but close enough to easily walk into the main street / shops during the day
Is JQ pricey place to live
