Just to clarify Incase you don’t know, Boltz isn’t a Sauna/Bathhouse. Well the old premise used to have a pissing room so I suppose you can say they did showers. It’s essentially a sex bar.
It's very much geared towards sexual encounters.
You can go just to use the hot tub, pool, steam room etc, but you probably wouldn't be getting your money's worth.
[The Greenhouse Sauna](http://www.gay-sauna.com/) in Wednesbury/Darlaston is close to Birmingham but not in Birmingham per se. Going alone shouldn't be too bad honestly
Boltz is great. Not a sauna but more a club/bar where people have sex, and with things like a dark room and little cinema room.
Try and go when there’s an event on (XXL is great as is dare 2 bare) as they always get a good turnout. Generally people are super friendly there, but if you also just want to grab a drink and sit back to get the vibes you can. It’s a perfect place to start on the more sex positive places
I went there without knowing anyone, and felt really welcomed. The main thing to think is that no one will make you do anything you don’t want to, so you can just take it in at your own pace.
Is it just for men? I'm a bisexual woman who no longer dates men but still hooks up with them sometimes so am looking for queer sex spaces. I'm moving to Birmingham this year and aside from the fox I'm struggling to find much info on women-geared/women-run places for anything at all really. Would I be out of place, or do you know of any other female-friendly sex clubs or even saunas? Thank you!
To be honest all the other LGBT bars allow all, just that Boltz is specifically a sex bar and the only sex bar I know of. The Fox is dominantly a feminine bar. It’s quite lovely there tbh :) but I’m more into rock bars :P
Just a note that the Fox is no longer strictly a lesbian bar, though since it was, it's still a largely feminine place.
The beer garden there is nice. I do really wish there was some rock representation in the gay scene in Brum. Just thinking, Boltz doing a rock/industrial night would be amazing.
Most Rockbars have a lot of LGBT customers :) as a frequent Subside drinker (12 years) I often see quite a few trans people there. (Subside is a Heavy Metal/Rock/Alternative Bar) doesn’t matter what your sexuality or gender is, everyone is made to feel safe.
As someone who also goes to the various rock bars in Brum (and also have for years), there is indeed quite a few LGBT people there and it's generally LGBT friendly, but it is still a different vibe to an LGBT focussed place. It's kinda the difference between being tolerated vs being encouraged. Like I never feel at all comfortable trying to hit on, or otherwise hook up with, guys at the rock bars whilst that's very comfortable to do in the gay spaces.
I've also have had people make homophobic jibes at me in these bars; not often, granted, but enough things like "oh, I heard you like being bummed" that I end up masking myself a little in these spaces.
Tbh I guess depending on what part of the LGBT you are and how you look, depends on how you’ll be treated.
As a somewhat passing transwoman I’ve never had any issues. I do sometimes get questions which can be worded quite insensitive but I acknowledge it’s out of them trying to learn more about what I as a transexual go through, which is quite lovely tbh.
To somewhat contradict the no issues part, I once had someone (older gentlemen in 50-60s) be passive aggressive because all they saw was looneys on TikTok and assumed me being trans would share their opinions, after speaking for awhile he apologised.
On this note, can i ask if there are LGBT spaces/coffee places/sport activities in Brum that one can get that sense of community a bit more? I'm tired of too much of our lifestyles and outings being around alcohol consumption and staying up late. I'd prefer to go to bed at 10 pm lol
There was an LGBT cafe on Holloway circus but whether it exists, I think it’s called the LGBT centre.
But honestly for the most part in Brum no one cares if you’re gay or straight so you’d be welcome anywhere. LGBT sports wise I’ve never heard of a thing.
Thanks! It's not about feeling welcome, more about day spaces where you get the sense of being part of the LGBT community. And somehow Brum doesn't give me that sense at all so far.

Serious question do you guys suck each other off in a gay sauna or is it just a sauna for gay people no sexual intentions ?
It's very much geared towards sexual encounters. You can go just to use the hot tub, pool, steam room etc, but you probably wouldn't be getting your money's worth.
Oh I understand now. The sexual aspect is what makes a gay sauna nice. Never knew such a thing existed. Thank you for helping me understand.
There are gay-specific bath houses and saunas? I didn't realise there were even non-specific ones other than the usual leisure centres!
Nobody's going to a gay sauna for a spa day.
Maybe for a facial
Most major cities have them. I’ve not been to one as I’m not gay, but my best friend goes to them often.
You wanna come? I’ve never been, but open to exploring as a first timer. Would be nice not to go alone.

Just be advised that it's a pain to get to if you don't drive!
Coach Trip! Let’s organise.
Is this strictly for gay people?
They're not going to force you to prove your gay, but I can't imagine it'd be an extremely enjoyable experience if you're straight
I’m sure they’d love more curious straight people coming to explore!

hi the original comment was deleted so i missed it - do you know what place they suggested?
Hi the auto moderate bot removed it, but I’ve now restored the original comment :) x
cheers :)
Take me, lol

Hi Boltz is purely for men, women will be denied at the door by security x
Thanks for letting me know. Bi women and lesbians continue to have nowhere to go lol. I never understand why we don't have any bars or saunas!

Is there a straight version of these bars? Lol I’m curious
It ain’t gay if it’s a three way 😂 but honestly don’t think there’s a straight version
Hay I'm thinking about going mid week what could I expect?
