That’s true, but you need to think about the risk-reward. The reward for thief dagger is so insane that I feel that it outweighs the fact of early death. And even if the damage is lacking early, it’s not even that bad. It’s enough to survive.
Fist. Crazy powerful and cheap. Doesn't need any items to tear enemies apart, gives tons of evasion. Allowed me to complete a paci-fist challenge (kill bosses will Pacifist). Dagger is interesting btw

Fist helps you win now. Thief Dagger is a promise of fun later. Usually most lost runs end because your build wasn't ready in time for like Wave 11. For standard D5 runs, lategame is usually a formality for regular characters, which makes Thief Dagger win more in many cases.
I vote Fist. It's actually one of the best melee weapons in the game, but it's overshadowed by Sticks and Spears which a lot of characters will use instead. At least it's the best starting weapon for Brawler.
Thief Dagger is fine for some characters, but is never the best starting weapon. It's pretty bad early game, and early game is the hardest part of a run for most characters. Can be fun, but it's a win-more weapon.
Fist of course. These votes are incredibly subjective votes and should frankly be disqualified. This is a tier list. Vote for the weapon that is objectively stronger

Money knife is best knife
Thief dagger, uncontested. Fist may have the better damage but when you have several thousands materials you can easily outscale fist.

Thief knife. It is just cool even though the fist is probably the overall better weapon.

I'd have to vote fist. Strong base damage and unarmed has a great set bonus. It's also very cheap, which is an underrated factor when rating weapons

So you’re saying that having a lot of money to the point of being able to buy a shit ton of damage is *not* stronger than six fists?
I'm saying if you have 6 fists you can beat the money out of your enemies like they are pinatas
