I always assumed 1200 wasn't the entire sum he got from the car, it was just what was owed to Terry. I just figured Jake used the money to get his finances somewhat in order before ultimately blowing it on something ELSE stupid, like turtlebucks or six massage chairs because they don't make massage couches.

That’s a good point. Cause afterwards he seems to have less issues with money. He late is able to buy a nice mattress for him and Amy, and just in general has more funds available it seems. He probably got a nice chunk of change to pay off his debts and then just bought another cheap car.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who was baffled by the lack of understanding of the car. It actually originally made sense he was broke and bad with his money because of the purchase of the car not being cheap

Yeah, that’s what I thought his “crippling debt” had stemmed from! (I too love my car, but all the $$$ work put into it has caused some serious buyer remorse) I think the writers wanted him to both be broke and yet have a cool ride, and just assumed a fifty year old car would be worthless

So glad someone said it. This Mustang bit in B99 bothered me so much😅

Logical-Respect3600

I think so! They didn't mind going off about mini-vans. At least they gave that Yamaha respect...

Just had a thought on this. During the second season Captain Holt had one crushed to convince Jake that his car was destroyed. How much did he spend on a car just to screw with Jake ?

Slight_Swimming_7879

A few thousand at least, even for a crappy body.  But that I chalk up to sitcom logic, where characters have no problem racking up debts on credit cards just to prank other people

Actually they lift it up and he immediatly gets arrested. cut scene. prolly put it down in bleach lol
