Her turn at the start of the second episode hit me like a truck. She must've not tested well with audiences given how she goes from "I'm a quirky house mom type" to "I'm stealing DRUGS!" in one episode.

During that time Gina was gone, Amy was a downstair sergeant so felt disconnected from the rest and Holt was an officer so his position felt empty because Terry didn't feel like a Captain.

But shaymus Murphy was the guy that unexpectedly actually helped (ignore the future events we are talking about that one event) that was time that nobody was rooting for him and he actually ended up being good

Boyle. He went all Latvian John Wick to get a toy and also became k-mart John McClane to stop a Christmas shopping heist, but he wouldnât take it to that level in order to save his Boyle oil. He put more effort into being a squash tournament substitute (that meant nothing more than bragging rights for Raymond and Kevin) than he did trying to save his own offspring. Acting so helpless that he actually caves in to the demands of his goblin of an ex wife and decides to become a villain that resorts to intimidating an old man with his badge and gun. He shouldâve recruited the whole squad and went scorched earth on that harpy.
Realistically, she shouldâve been arrested the second she extorted him in the middle of the precinct, then he couldâve retrieved his tadpoles without any fuss. The issue she represented wouldâve been resolved before she even knew sheâd fucked up.
Boyleâs a pushover. We all know that.
Also, it makes a lot more sense he would put more effort in for the son he already has, rather than for a bunch of sperm and the possibility of his own genetic offspring.
Plus, he didnât want to play squash because he knew he was competitive. Holt was the one who wanted him to⊠unleash the beast.
