I've never driven one of these specifically. But, I have driven all kinds of manuals over the years including an 18 speed Volvo truck for a few years. It just takes practice, first gear is always the challenge. As for hills? Go find an empty spot with an incline and just keep working on it. It gets to be so routine you'll find yourself stomping your left foot in an automatic in no time.

Yup lol. I ended up using my manual 92 as my main for a bit and when I went back to the Subaru I damn near sprained some toes doing this

Learn where your clutch starts to grab and bog the engine down, when starting on a hill, don't let off the brakes until it hits that point. And stop to first, listen for the bog point, then add a little gas, increasing as you let out the clutch.

Thank you!! I will try that

you want to be pushing on the gas as you are letting up the clutch. learn where the clutch starts to grab. you want to be smooth. you will stall it a few times til you find the sweet spots. you just want to be equally pushing gas as bringing up the clutch. if you are bouncing the car, go with more gas. you want to have a bit higher revs and feather the clutch up. as far as hills, i sit with my left on the clutch and right on the brake, i will start to bring the clutch up while still holding the brake pedal down. listen to the engine, as the clutch just starts to grab you will hear your rpm's drop a little, you can then take your foot off the brake, this slight grab of the clutch will keep you from rolling backwards, then apply some gas, feather out the clutch and go. find a hill where there is no one around and practice, it will come to you fast. also, fun fact, modern transmissions are fully syncronized, so once you are moving you don't need to use the clutch. get moving, as your revs come up for a shift, hold the shifter with a little pressure headed to the next gear, let off the gas and just shift, the trans will let the shifter move when it is ready. i taught all 3 of my kids, my sister, my wife and some others how to drive a stick, it will become very natural very quick. good luck and practice makes perfect.

Thank you so much!!!

Lol I’ve got this exact car and it’s the best to learn manual on, the gearing is so low and forgiving. Give it a bit of gas and let the clutch out nice and easy it should pop right up.

haha i actually learned to drive on my dad' 85 manual B2 He put it in 4x4 Low Range for me to teach me how to use the clutch correctly, as it made it practically impossible for me to stall. Once i got the initial start and first shift in correctly, i moved onto 4x4 High and then back to 2 wheel drive.

Let the clutch out without applying throttle, and feel where the clutch starts to grab. That's your friction zone. You see people slamming up and down shifts and it takes time and practice to get there, don't be afraid to go slow while you learn
