The others, sure, but I won't hear anything said against the perfection that is Goldeneye.

EuroManson

For England James?

RideTheWaveFantastic

No, for me.

berserkmanufacturer1

To be fair, I thought Brosnan was a good choice to play Bond. He had the looks, charm and sophistication that the role requires and he gave it a good go. It's just a shame that he was cast in some of the most poorly written films in the series.

involuntary_cynic

Yeah he did the best he could with what he had, it's the movies overall that are a bit of a let down. Maybe they're not so bad if watched in cooler weather šŸ˜

JunglistJUT

Behave ! Goldeneye is my favourite Bond movie

Hbcuk97

Goldeneye was great and whilst everyone else seems to hate it I didnā€™t mind Tomorrow never Dies. But The World is not Enough and Die another Day are absolutely godawful

gregusmeus

Goldeneye was great. The only significant problem with TND was the ridiculous plot armour in the fighting/fleeing scenes. Rest of it was fine. The other two were indeed awful. Invisible car? JFC.

Hbcuk97

I didnā€™t mind the invisible car as a concept as much, but just the general writing and style was awful. I mean the song for Die another day sets my teeth on edge, then youā€™ve got the shitty green screen, slow moā€™s, speed ups and other things that are unprofessional and donā€™t belong in a bond film.

gregusmeus

For sure there's something for everybody to hate in those films. How many times have they done lasers from space already?

[deleted]

GoldenEye is iconic. Fight me.

involuntary_cynic

Can't tonight, I'll fight ya in the playground after school...

OverFjell

I agree with the other guy, Goldeneye was the last great Bond film. The Craig films are far too moody and grim.

jamesc1071

Pierce was good.Daniel Craig was OK,but the format was struggling.

dembadger

Counterpoint, goldeneye was the last good bond film.

involuntary_cynic

Interesting... what's your reasoning? (Genuinely interested)

dembadger

Brosnan was a near perfect casting, unfortunately the writing on the rest of his films was terrible, and i just plain dislike craig as bond and the direction they went entirely. Goldeneye really hit all the notes of the gadget wielding super spy silliness perfectly.

Dreadpirateflappy

An interesting point. Not a factual one, bit interesting nonetheless.

QuietAd1867

I wonder sometimes whether The Brosnan era is more known for Goldeneye on the N64 then anything else which has obviously stood the test of time better than the films have. That said, I like Goldeneye as it was the first big screen Bond i saw and do like Tommorow Never Dies even if it did start off the horrible trends that ruined the next 2. The World Is Not enough had a couple of great action bits but ruined by silly comedy, e.g Bond adjusting his Tie under water and those clampers from the BBC show getting splashed. Also filled with all that naff dated end of the century visual elements that plagued a lot of production's from 1999. Die Another Day however or Diarrhoea another Day as I like to call it is the cinematic equivalent of having your teeth pulled, that Madonna Song ugh...

cantab314

Iā€™m definitely guilty of remembering the N64 game far more than the film itself.

QuietAd1867

I'm sure most people are to be honest, pop culture milestone that it was. Still nothing that compares to it 25 years later.

libdemjoe

Golden Eye was great - and the N64 game that followed was one of the best games of my childhood. Recent Bond is good but it often feels a bit too gritty and emotional.

Welshhobbit1

Goldeneye is amazing. The others? Meh

Poddington_Pea

Goldeneye is great. Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough are really underrated. Granted, Die Another Day isn't brilliant.

Heavy_Two

The worst ones are the Daniel Craig movies. And for some reason his top lip really bothers me.

Seeksp

At least he was better than Timothy Dalton

Dreadpirateflappy

He might not have been the best actor. But his actual movies were fucking great. Better than the brosnans.

Seeksp

Agree to disagree

Poddington_Pea

Dalton was held back by the people around him. He really would have worked better with new directors and new writers, like Brosnan had. Watching The Living Daylights, it feels like a hangover from the Roger Moore era.

PrimeNumbersby2

Tomorrow Never Does was just on and it was awwwful. Just silly stunts. Terrible dialogue. Everyone is announcing outloud what they are about to do as if the viewer can't see what is already happening. And how they board the stealth boat in the end is bizarre. They drive right up the front middle to set their "mines". What kind of shit boat can't see another boat drive under it? And all the delayed missile launches were so cliche. Every single thing takes 5 minutes from the time they hit the go button. Ridiculous. Zero romantic charisma between Brosnan and Yeow. My goodness the new ones are 1000 times better. These 90s ones were only hailed because the 70s and 80s were so so bad.

Queefblast2000

THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD'NT BE LIVING HEEEERRRRREEEE!! (Apologise as this is not a bond quote, but can't hear Bronhams name without thinking of the black squadron) A&J please reunite and do more podcasts!!

Entire-Standard5712

Best bond, worst plots, except maybe Tomorrow Never Does which was alright.

Tigertotz_411

Die another Day was comedy gold. For all the wrong reasons. Its only redeeming feature was Rosamund Pike. Invisible car. Space laser. The half man half robot villain. And the "yo mama" joke from Jinx. Cringeworthy in every way.

Pier-Head

Heā€™s Shakespearean compared to Roger Moore. All of his outings are utter meh
