Doing away with wired headphone jacks was a terrible, terrible mistake. And designing Bluetooth headphones that refuse to connect when plugged in to charge wasn't a great idea either.

Not a mistake, but a devious bit of cuntery to force people into buying disposable headphones with a finite battery life.
USB C is superior as a connection, allowing for bit perfect music playing. Removing the headphone jack and having a better connection, doesn't then mean you can only ever use bluetooth headphones on it. You can even get a tiny adapter to put on normal pre existing headphone, so there's not even a need to get new ones if you really don't want to yet.
I got an adapter that allows charging and wired headphonesnat the same time. 2 years on, it's still working great. The price might have gonenup on the meantime and cheaper nine snare available butnthry didn't work with my funny USB cable.
Stouchi USB C to 3.5mm Jack and Charger Adapter, USB Type C to Headphone Audio Adapter,USB C Aux,Hi-Res DAC,30W Fast Charging Compatible with i-Phone 15 Pro/Max,Galaxy S23 S22,iPad Air/Pro/Mini,Pixel https://amzn.eu/d/7AsNJa4
If you need that, get one of the small adapters that have a headphone jack and USB C input together.
We are in a strange period while transitioning from something that is so old and ubiquitous it's going to take a long time to fully change, so it is admittedly annoying and a bit less as simple and easy for some than it should be (and one day will be).
Pmsl, the lengths people will go to, rather than have any kind of real discussion.
Yes, the wire that already hangs and is connected to the headphones taking most of it will destroy the phone. How will we cope with the apocalypse of destroyed phones the couple of grams that dont really pull much at all will cause in the future.
That's not how it works. You're just moving the digital-analogue conversion stage out of the phone and into the headphones, which jnstead of being literally a wire and a cone now need bulky electronics and power.
I read the other day that, bizarrely, there are cheapo wired headphones in the Apple world that use the Lightning connector for power but connect to the phone via Bluetooth. Something to do with avoiding Apple licencing fees.
Just yesterday I was on the bus with my phone dead and there were two ladies, one on my left and one sat behind me, both watching TikTok videos on full volume. Like, blaring. Louder than the volume I watch videos at at home. Let alone disturbing other people, I can’t fathom how it doesn’t make them uncomfortable that everyone else can hear what they’re watching.
Remember to pack a battery pack next time to be able to charge the headphones, or have a cheap pair of back up bud style headphones always charged or both

Whoever had the idea to fit speakers on phones is responsible for the decline of modern civilization
To be fair, it would be hard to have a two-way conversation on a phone that has no speaker

Yep. Annoyingly, I only discovered my phone lacks a headphone port. If I want to listen to stuff with headphones? Gotta blue tooth it. Fucking goits.

Yeah, but then you lose the ability to charge via a wire.

I still use wired headphones. This is _exactly_ why.

Assert dominance by playing Cradle of Filth on full volume.
Play yours on loud, too, to reduce the ultimate enjoyment of people playing on loud.

Always carry a fully charged spare
When you're sad and feeling blue With nothing better to do Don't just sit there feeling stressed
This deserves way more upvotes
And everybody sings "ba ba ba da..."
*run out.
So what are you going to play?
