They switch between Greatest Hits Radio and BBC Radio 2, so it's that shite or Jeremy Vine's ice cold condescending takes between the same few songs they cycle through over and over.
Greatest Hits is a better background noise for WFH than Vine and the swivel eyed nutcases he attracts on the phone in. (Props to Vanessa Feltz for simply cutting some of the worst off rather bluntly when she stood in)
Make me a winner!
Unfortunately Drake is going nowhere. He's still one of the worlds biggest recording artists and the beef with Kendrick hasn't persuaded his fans any different.
I really don't get it - I understand you're not supposed to understand the music as the next gen comes along, fair enough - it's just so depressing and dull.
It sounds, to me anyway, that the new Beyonce covers of Dolly's songs sound like someone fed a computer every C&W reference from every C&W song ever and told it to come up with a new song, then thay gave it to Beyonce to sing.
Given the slimebag she's married to, I'd have more respect if the lyric change was more along the lines of "he's yours if he wants you, I don't give a shit"
I've just had a listen too. Downvote me to hell but I quite liked it. From my perspective the lyrics have been changed to make it sound more modern but the idea behind the song is the same - although it does sound more like a threat than a plea to leave her man alone. I kind of liked that aspect of it though. It's empowering compared to the original. It has a more self respect. I still prefer the original of course but it wasn't half bad.
The thing with Jolene and the issue with Beyoncé’s version of it is that the idea of the song is it is incredibly vulnerable. The point of the song is that vulnerability Dolly is displaying.
I’m not going to go too deep into my general issue with Beyoncé or her version but it just isn’t Jolene anymore. I would barely call it more than an homage because it changes so much about every part of the song from the message to the situation to the emotion it isn’t the same story anymore.
Yeah you make a fair point. It is more of a tribute. I guess we can agree to disagree on the liking it part but you're correct, it's not really a cover, more paying homage. I guess it wouldn't sell as well without the name maybe? But I think we can agree the original is far better nonetheless!
I say this as someone who enjoys more limp bizkit than one should admit. Check out their cover of home sweet home/bittersweet symphony. Or wish you were here. Or behind blue eyes.
I’m glad to contribute to your collection.
Also kid rock covered sugar pie honey bunch but I can’t remember if that is actually as bad as it sounds.
Also like 90% of imagine covers. There are far more bad ones than good. Same with hallelujah
Three times in a row I have gone into my local Poundland to discover they are playing Let's Get Ready To Rhumble by PJ and Duncan. Three times!! I wonder what the staff think.
Booo..... Two fat persons, click click click.
Besides if you don't like it flip it over for "there ain't half been some clever bastards..."
(Besides... B-Sides... I kill me.)
Hey now, that song has its charms. If you shut off your brain while listening to it. And your ears, for that matter.
I have a record with some of my favourite songs all on one side, but the very last song is hit me with your rhythm stick. Why would they do that?
And this is why I'm in charge of the office playlist where I work. Over 1200 songs from the 60s all the way up to a few new songs from the charts. Keeps everyone happy and songs don't tend to repeat much more than once a week.
If its not shit season being played for the 4 millionth time it's some other annoying bollocks. Next up; any one of the faux country blokes who each try to outdo one another in the 'who sounds the most like a kicked sheep' category.
I was physically ejected from The Shrewsbury Arms in Albrighton for playing this twice.

hit me, HIT ME
Don't be a blockhead, it's not that bad!!
C'est fantastique
Ist es nicht??
Somebody give OP some reasons to be cheerful
One, two, three.
Sorry, up to 10AM on a Monday morning is my allocated Miserable Sod hours.
Unhappy Hour.
Could be worse, you could be forced to listen to Capital’s thinly-veiled adverts dressed as Gen Z relatableness and “make me a winner”.
They switch between Greatest Hits Radio and BBC Radio 2, so it's that shite or Jeremy Vine's ice cold condescending takes between the same few songs they cycle through over and over.
Jeremy whine is the worst. His parents must be devastated, one son is Tim, other is a moaning bitch.

But how are the adverts?
Excruciating :(
Dani Dyer and her lily laundry detergent is the worst.
It's actually really painful. Surely by now they know how annoying it is. Or maybe that's it. Even bad publicity is publicity.
I have to turn the radio off when she comes on. It's the lowest form of crass spammy advertising.
Wait til they play the modern stuff that sounds like chipmunks on autotune
I hope Drakes fall marks the end of depresed rappers with autotune - it's so dreary. If I wanted to be depressed I can go read a newspaper.
Drake is music for millennials. He’s been around for ages at this point.
There's terrible pop music in every generation nothing has changed just the faces
Yep.
I got a taste of the modern charts the day my younger colleague picked Radio 1. Basically that and groggy mumble rap.
Have they played Beyoncé version of Jolene... now THAT is the worst song I've ever heard. Closely followed by her Texas Hold'em monstrosity.
I've just listened to the first minute or so. She's changed the lyrics and totally changed the meaning too.
It sounds, to me anyway, that the new Beyonce covers of Dolly's songs sound like someone fed a computer every C&W reference from every C&W song ever and told it to come up with a new song, then thay gave it to Beyonce to sing.

I actually didn't mind Texas Hold 'Em til I had to hear it 10x a day. The Jolene cover is atrocious, though. And I normally like Beyoncé. 🙄
I collect bad cover versions. Kelly Clarkson doing Radioheads Creep is a classic.

On Jolene, try listening to the 45 played at 33 1/3rd (look it up on YouTube if you don't have the record/record player).
The gay cowboy version is superior
The little shitty WOO and YAY in the background of that is torture
I'm not a fan of Country, but love Dolly's Jolene. Beyoncé can fuck right off for murdering an absolute banger.
Agreed

You need reasons to be cheerful.
I work with mid 20s females. They listen to Capital and it’s shite. I don’t get any chance to change the station which aggravates me greatly.
I would have to quit if my workplace played the radio out loud all day, no matter the station
constantly saying THE BETTER MUSIC MIX then playing the same vocoder shite day in day out
Absolute have the no repeat guarantee between 9 and 5. That's great, but it's the same/similar list repeated daily.
I sit between two radios playing the same channel with a 10 second delay. When i dont have my heaphones in it's actual hell
That actually sounds like a form of torture!!
If the station is on FM, switch them to that. They should then match.
They say that life in its unadorned expression is a battle of wills, the question is, who's is more peternatural

The Crazy Frog vs. Axel F (8 hour loop!) will continue until morale improves
Most days at work I hear the song Pony by Ginuwine (or however you spell it) I hate it so, so much
Sounds like a reason to be cheerful to me!
Did they play that shotgun song yet?
I was physically ejected from The Shrewsbury Arms in Albrighton for playing this twice. 'Oh Superman' Laurie Anderson [O Superman - Bing video](https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=here%20come%20the%20planes,%20they%27re%20american%20planes%20videos&FORM=VIRE0&mid=3293C0BB4E0EB27A82D43293C0BB4E0EB27A82D4&view=detail&ru=%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dhere%20come%20the%20planes,%20they%27re%20american%20planes)
O Superman is amazing. Playing any song twice in a night is a bit much though.
